I'm also up for the ride north for chill and chat...

been trying to look for extended mirrors for gsr400, the stock can't really see anything...

today at planet i was the 1st gsr there, shortly after, another gsr 400 came.. then ah chong (the boss) commented, how come recently so many gsrs, yesterday got 2 today another.. then told him you famous ma... he laughed... is it any of you guys?

btw, any knows if the light on our console - the orange lighting, can be changed?

Just brought a GSR400 2 days ago and I was at planet yesterday too to do my servicing.

The orange lighting can definitely be changed, the previous owner of my bike changed it to white backlight and I must say it looks great! You can try the CMO thread below, the first picture example shows the GSR console.

I was there to look for ah chong, main purpose was to see if he got mirror to change to... i wanted those different flexible extended type, so can see behind me. Cause my forearms block the rear, only can see left and right... He only had the large "phantom" chrome type, tested it same effect.. so he said nvm...

Then also changed EO and Oil filter since already there.... Did wanted to air gun my brake pads as they are screeching a bit but forgot about it...

@iewnuj: Thanks! Exactly what i had in mind, have already pm-ed him to get a quote.. the stealth lighting looks sweet.

What brake pads you guys use? I am currently using Goldfren ceramic carbon sintered metal pads for my front brake. But it seems like 'gently' eating the rotors. I ever used Braking and currently using WP brand for my rear brake and they are worse than Goldfren. IMO, stock pads are most friendly to the rotors. Any of u guys getting stock pads as replacement?

Just to survey...what setting did u all have for the rear suspension? Standard is 4 right? Just realised mine is at 6 now. I got pillion pp, but is it too stiff? Pls advise...tks!

Only you will know how stiff and soft you want it to be. I guess most will not be able to advice. Reason, your body, your bike, your pillion. A plump guy will have the settings different from a slim guy. Test it out, if you dun like how it feels like, adjust. There are no standard in this. Its how you like it and not how others feels. The bike must "fit" the rider, not the other way around.

Ohh to add, do small adjustments. Doing it too drastically might "damage" the bike.

How can we adjust it ourselves?

I recently changed my brake pads to EBC at Unique. They were pricey, at $65 per pair. i changed all 3 pairs so u can imagine how expensive it was. But since the pads on the bike (WP) was worn out and my mid-year bonus pay just came in :), might as well give these pads a try.

I must say they are very grippy. HECK, i dare say it probably saved my life yesterday.

I was riding back home after night shift and was feeling sleepy. I think i didnt notice i was riding tailgating a car too close behind it.

When the car slowed down to a stop, i 'panicked' and jammed on my front brakes. My bike felt like it was performing a stoppie and felt the front fork absorbing all the weight and stopped within inches of the car. I must thank my lucky stars cos i'm sure if i had'nt changed my pads, i'm sure as hell i would have rear ended that car.

I concur with bro ivikarazi, its your bike, your body and how u ride it. Only u yourself know if its too stiff or soft for you.

But just for reference sake, the standard position is 4 and myself weighing ~70kg and occasionally riding with pillion am using the standard position.

Thanks ivikarazi for yr pointers and also mmkbad for yr reference. I weigh less than u and my setting is at 6! Dunno why the previous owner set so hard.

Btw, anyone of u adjusted the rear damping force, the one where u need to use a flathead screwdriver at the bottom of the rear suspension? If turn clockwise fully is stiffest right? Standard setting is it turn 1 round (360 degrees) anti-clockwise from stiffest position? Dun dare to try leh...

Seems like can only turn it clockwise? If i want to change setting from 6 to 5, can i turn anti-clockwise?

Yes you can turn counter-clockwise. Maybe for a start, get the damping to 4. Adjust more or less after your ride. Tis one no choice need to use butt dyno.

yes you heard right, its higher compared to S4. im 174cm and my both feet touches the ground nicely on the honda, but GSR i got to tip a little bit. no big issues though, just that if youre moving the bike in reverse super four will be easier haha. :thumb:

Yea. To me, braking system and tyres always come first when safety is concerned. That's why looking for better pads now. So any sign of EBC pads damaging the rotors?
