Here's a new contribution by me for those techies who have lots of time to spend.

I've been looking at alternative suspension replacements for the rear shock. And I'm not talking about aftermarket.

A replacement Penske is $1500, I've asked.

Instead, I have word from Europe that certain models of OEM bike shocks is a straight fit into ours. For a while, I was looking at Z1000 shocks.

Now, after approaching a suspension specialist for advice, I can happily disseminate to all of you that, if you can lay your hands on a 1996-1999GSXR-750 shock, it can be fitted onto the GSR with very little or no modifications at all.

Why is this significant?

If you spent some time reading the manual that was distributed out, you'll come to a slightly shock news: our rear shocks are NOT serviceable. Nope, not even the suspension specialist at Serangoon will do it. I've asked.

Its one of those funny Kayaba things that Suzuki slap on our bikes (much similar to the ship anchor I had on my previous TL1000R) that has to be replaced in 3-4 years time, shorter if you ride harder. A replacement is very ex, I can assure you.

A GSXR-750 shock, on the other hand, is servicable (by certain people). A much cheaper option.

Plus, it can be upgraded with certain mods (replacement springs, valving, etc) that will make your riding much easier. Weight-challenged people like me who pillion my wife regularly also appreciates a better shock that can hold up our combined weight.

Suspensions are the one component often ignore when it comes to performance, before brakes.

Many may not realize it but a better suspension that is properly tuned does give the rider much more confidence & when that happens, the rider will tend to ride faster, take a corner deeper & faster.

Where to find GSXR750 96-99 shocks?

http://www.ebay.com is your best friend. Me, I have a 96 shock lined up for me from an old colleague....

Just wanna share with all of you on how i calculate my fuel consumption without having to wait for the fuel to be finished...

1st -set ur Trip 2, to 0.00, and perform full pump

2nd - ride until the fuel bar left 1 or 2 at ur personal convenience

3rd - Refill fuel, Pls take note the no. of liters that u pump in

4th - Minus the no. of litres located at the pumping machine by 16.5 L (Full tank capacity)

5th- No. of trip 2 devide by no. of litres used ... Complicated & Confused???

dude, sorry to say this but your method is wrong.

step number 4 is irrelevant.

the number of litres of petrol that you use is actually the amount of litres of

petrol that you pumped in.

therefore:

Yesterday, you pumped 8.904 Litre in

Fuel used = 16.5 L - 8.904 L

= 7.596 L (NO NEED)

My Trip 2 = 115.2KM

Therefore your fuel consumption

= 115.2KM devide by 8.904L

= 12.94KM/L

mods done:

powerplant device, fuel injector venturis,

underseat cylindrical air filter, bassy stock cans,

super-sensitive in-built gyroscope, inertia-based accelerometer,

streamlined panniers (zero drag),

taped up wires, exposed grounding wires,

TBC mounted, custom tire pressures.

litre bikes watch out! :gun:

Also, wrong leh.

You should not gauge halfway a tank liddat.

Coz the 3 bars not evenly divided for the tank.

Best is use until reserve as the reserve is really set to 2 litres remaning.

Easier and more accurate to gauge.

i know.

my point is, his step 4 is the point that is screwing up the calculations.

supersonic... ur posts getting more n more liao leh... n how come i'm compulsory to go for the meet up?? nevertheless, will meet u all there for dinner... do u need other previous MCA issues for reference?

as for selecting the chairman, i feel that being who n wat we r now, its just free n easy. no strings attached. when there's a club, there must b a committee to maintain n uphold the club. n everyone got their own commitment. n we have no restriction to who organise outing. anyone interested can organise. just my suggestions...
