Is there any shops that allows installments for old vespas, cause installments for the newer models are quite high so i guess i might as well just start out with the older and cheaper ones, but so far i've only been to tong aik and they only do cash and carry. is there any other places that i can find that does installment on 2nd hand scooters?

hi guys, recently got myself an old px,1983 made, since u guys talking about speedo meter, can i put the millenium meter (the one with fuel gauge) on it...? sounds wierd but fuel gauge is good.......it'll remind to lessen the thickness of ur wallet..

Your current speedo doesnt have a fuel gauge? i'm guessing yours is the pre acrobaleno model with the signal indicator and high beam ligh outside of the speedo. You will need a new headset cover and a gas tank that will work with a fuel gauge.

ah joo also does it. my friend bought a super there and pay by instalments. the shop is at eunos. near singapore post. cruise around that area till u find a shop with lots of vespa outside...

You are better off saving up 1k and buying outright... paying by installments is only going to cost you more... Given that your average scoot will cost between 1 and 1.5k why bother with installments??:

Hello brothers!

My beloved Vespa Sprint has been rather moody recently. For example, whenever i visit the petrol kiosk, scoot will get jealous and refuse to start after refuelling. There seems to be little compression and i need to kick for 20-30 minutes before it restarts.

I will be all hot and sweaty by then. I check the side mirror, but still not sexy.

When engine is cold in the morning, i can start it as per normal. By per normal in Sprint's case, i mean having to tilt the bike to its side and kick around 5 times.

I change engine oil and spark plug regularly(once a month).

Any bro here with prediction on what the problem could be before i send scoot to the "doctor"?!

If there's a compression problem, it could be your piston or coil. Get it checked.

This sounds familliar. Is there alot of smoke when the bike is able to start after 20 min? If so then your carb is flooding. try changing the carb floating pin. If there isnt then i guess its the coil problem. Hall sensor or ignition coil gg to give way. I bet its likely to happen when the engine is hot. So yeah have the coil checked and the flywheel too (deep scratches on the magneto). try the floating pin first if not work on the ignition. from the cdi to the coil. a weak coil will give an orange spark if not wrong? thats all that i know off.

also suggest carb float pin... cheap to buy and change yourself...

Probably time for some new piston rings also...

Firstly, how do you know you have a compression problem and how are you checking it? I hope you're not guessing merely on leg strength.

You are having difficulties starting the bike after refueling because your carb is flooded. It has happened to me numerous times before.

what you can do is to turn the fuel tap to off before you refuel, also dont depress the fuel gun trigger all the way. Let the fuel flow into your tank not gush in at full force.

If youve done all the above and it still happens, then you have to look at your fuel tap and your carb.

When carb floods, a quick way to fix it is to remove your spark plug and kick over 20-30 times. clean your plug and put it back. it should start. so you dont have to kick for 20-30 mins.

Secondly, what do you mean by "per normal in Sprint's case, i mean having to tilt the bike to its side and kick around 5 times." ? It is not normal. My bike starts one kick everytime, hot or cold.

It is not necessary to tilt your bike if your choke is working. The next time you start in the morning, pull your choke and kick. If you've been tilting and pulling the choke at the same time all this while when you start, you will have flooded your carb (again).

If the above works, then its just your carb that is flooded. (which IMHO think its the case)

To check your spark, remove your spark plug with the lead still attached to it, place near a metal object (carb box cover) and kick.. if you see that the spark is very weak, then its time to adjust or change your contact point breakers, OR it could be a very worn flywheel. or both.

If you're unsure, send it to a shop for checking

Its been highly debated. whether or not a px is considered classic depends on your definition and there isnt a fixed one for it.

campared to the modern vespas eg the GT, yes you can call it a classic.

Is the GT a classic? probably not, in 20 years time? when compared to the newer modern bikes? probably so.

As for your second question, all px are 2 stroke.

no one is going to answer you if i didnt. google is your friend. this aint yahoo answers .

hey barefoot... the PX can be called classic... classic can be said to include any manual shift vespa... Vintage can be said to be anything older than the PX series... Well that's how I like to think of it at least :)
