sounds like you just soft seized your newly rebored cylider...

Aiyoyo....

Keep speeds down for first 5-700km... shift early... don't rev high... etc...

Use 2% semisynth or fully synth 2 Stroke oil...

In my experience mechanics tend not to know better... but hey, that's just me...

you talk as if mechanics are no good.. so ego as if you been riding for long time since bike were invented.. if mechanics tend not to know better? than how they learn to repair bikes and modify them???

and know whats wrong with the bikes if its spoilt?

thanks itsonfire =)

last night Euro Finals going to start so never continue to talk about the oil to use when running in..haha shall continue a bit now.

Yeah, like what the folks said, go slower when running in, about 80% or less than what you would usually travel. In absolute terms, it should be about 70km/h or so. Don't be too eager to turn throttle, will have plenty of chance once it's run-in.

and err... to add on to what Sharpey said about the oil to use when running in. Actually it might be advisable to use mineral or semi-synthetic 2T during running in, or so i gather from Google-ing. The fact that the parts are new and will need some wearing out before they fit perfectly, so the mineral/semi 2t will actually help wear the parts and allow them to slide past each other easily once the run-in is over.

And do change the oil after run-in, 'cause there will be a lot of dirt/grinded metal/etc =)

anyways, been 3weeks since you bored the cylinder? For me, I'd have done running-in during that period of time..haha maybe i travel a lot or too excited to finish the run-in process (and take it out for plenty of joy rides) Haha!

Punkie... see the bit where I said "that's just me".... That means in my opinion...

Don't start making a demon out of me...

I've been riding since 2004... Not long really :D

The person who should know / should find out what is best for / wrong with a scooter should be its rider... But hey, that's just me.

hey all.... thanks for the information.

opinions are to each his own. please don't starting a flaming war. we are here to share our knowledge. Let's keep an open mind. Peace

apologies for the poor explanation, i've actually run in my scooter for 3 weeks. not sure if it's enough? milage meter is not working, so i'm not sure how far have i travelled. i travelled a lot, jalan kayu to bedok almost every day, sometimes at night i go rounding.

probably now the main problem is my choice of lubricant and the proportion to add. usually i add at 3%. due to run-in, i was advised to add more, so i guess i'm adding too much!! i was once told, more is better than less. haha.

Machine K,

when you say change oil after running in, do you mean the gear oil?

oh yeah, i was referring to gear oil, sorry to cause misunderstanding (if any) there. Too happily typing my long paragraphs that i forgot to add in that word =) Though it depends on what parts you overhaul in the engine and what you actually running-in for. But changing oil don't cost you more than $5.

Change to 2T and get it to 2-2.5%, and see how it goes, if it still doesn't run well, it might be some other problems. Keep us posted =)

Sadly not possible... (well not feasible)...

If you want ele-start get an ele-start PX...

That's a pain I know... just about everything else is a do-able... just not electric start!

Um your cdi isn't in that box (if you have one)... it will be a blue or black box attached to the back of your engine... Take a pic there instead... Also, if your flywheel has a hole in it (covered with rubber bung) then you have a non-cdi scooter.

yeobt, if u're thinking of re-wiring ur whole bike i would recommend thong aik. mr wee does gd wiring services. and they charge $165 for the rewiring. maybe it's too costly than the other shops that the wiki provides but i think thongaik has gd workmanship. bout ur speedometer, u might wanna check whether ur meter cable has snapped or not. cos that normally is the problem. cheers!

Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like it's modded to put extra battery for your lights. I also carry a battery pack around. But its for my ERP. Everytime go in need to take out and raise it. heee. My lights itself are damn pathetic. My mech was telling me can mod to add battery for lights hence the first sentence statement.

I go to Rosli if you wanna know :p He's before Hendra

No worries... everyone starts off as a newb :)

The bit I'm referring to is shown here...

http://vespamaintenance.com/elec/plugwire/Pic7.jpg

Basically the pic is taken with the engine side cover off... standing behind the scoot looking forwards... The spring on the left is the rear shock, the square box (either blue or black like this one) is the cdi... it's bolted to the back of the engine case...

Take a pic of that area when you get the chance... should be easy enough to tell...

Also, if your flywheel has this gap in it...(the hole that looks like a bean at the bottom there) chances are you've got points ignition
