Are you talking about actually making the forks longer so that you have more of a chopper look?

If so, this is not a good idea. You seriously change the steering geometry of the bike. When you extend the forks, you change the rake angle (it becomes larger relative to the ground but not the bike) and you shorten trail. Additionally, the frame is no longer horizontal. All of these change steering characteristics, usually for the worse.

hmm i did that on my dragstar400 for 1 day actually. http://www.650ccnd.com

see how they insert a tube into the fork to press the suspension downwards so that the bike gets raised..

my friend got the tubes so i told him that i wanted to try it out for a day 1st. u-turning would take a wider radius and your sitting posture would be rather akward at 1st but certainly looks nicer when ppl see u in that position.. :cheeky: i didn't get used to the sitting posture and ridiing for abt 2 hrs of riding though. feels like the front end is gonna skid when you turn hard but feels very stable on the expressway :thumb:

also, it would seem harder to turn (as in your bike may seem stuck as u have to use alot of force to turn) but i got used to that after awhile..

wonder if u can do the same to a steed though.. try it out and let us know :thumb:

It's your damn bike, wash it yourself! You rinse your own mouth after you eat, don't you?

not so serious la...

2inch extend on the tube may affect e rake/trail angle a little more..

give n take lor..

heavier steering but i get less horizontal force on the fork bush/seal..n higher ground clearance..n maybe abit more stability going straight..

tks for e advice..hehe

so u noe where can i get them?

seen some steeds having them around..:cheeky:

broEd,

its DIY mod. Go to your local hardware shop, ask uncle for the 1 inch PVC tube and tell him ur required length oso.

After that go to ur carpark and start to get your hands dirty. Thats what mods are all about.

hi, anyone noes where can get a\pair of tube extenders for steed?

price?....tks.

That's not lengthening the fork, you are merely adding pre-load to fork spring.

To lengthen the fork, you need to remove the fork cap, and machine an additional length of tube (same dimension as your fork tube). That new length will screw onto the fork, and the fork cap (merely cosmestic now) goes on the top.

You need to decide how long you want to add. Make sure that there is enough slack for the brake, and speedo cable. By making the fork longer, when on side stand, it leans more, so the side stand may need to be lengthened proportionately too.

Lengthening the fork does not change the rack angle. The rack angle is determined by the triple-clamp tree. However, there is some effect, not drastic, on the handling, especially when doing tight turns.

:)
