Hi guys,

i am back in SG safe and sound yesterday.

The top of the drive shaft bearings worn off, have to change the drive shaft as the bearings are not replaceable.

As told by the mechanic, this is part of wear and tear. :(

Tough luck on me to encounter a mechanical problem on the way there.

All is good on me, but the towing costs me a bomb.

Bike is at PML now. :)

Thanks guys for the concern.

Slow down abit, smell the air and enjoy the scenery.

Caught the touring bug once again!

Be wary of the source of information for your bike's maintenance. Some FAQs are compiled by people who lack the technical know how.

Overall it was quite an experience.

the highway plus+ patrol stopped along and tried to assist me. And i asked them for a nice mechanic's contact. They gave me a number "Keat" whose shop was in Kedah, Sg Petani.

Called up the guy, he gave me a BMW shop number but the shop doesn't have spare parts or the support too.

Got in contact with my SG friend and Kris from PML, and see what was the best arrangement.

Decided not to wait by the roadside anymore, called Keat to tow me back to his shop.

He came in less than an hour with his pickup.

I shall skip all the parts of him checking on my bike. He was very helpful and i can see he was very honest.

Soon i became good friend with the mechanic as i realised he himself is a biker as well. And many of the customers and his riding group dropby his shop to chat with me.

Very quickly, i knew like 6-8 of his riding kakis.

One of the guy even offered me his bike to ride to Hatyai/Phuket !!!!

But as i was very shagged and tired, worried about my bike too, i didn't take up his offer.

On a different hindsight, i should have !!!!

Ah keat also wanted to help me arranged a van to Hatyai/Phuket so i won't miss the holiday.

An Uncle who rides a Suzuki offered to take me around Hatyai on Sat as he knows thailand very very well.

Cut the story short, i became one of their riding brothers too.

they brought me to a nice thai place to have dinner. (say since i no chance to eat thai foods, they bring me to eat)

After that we went to a "starlight" pub to have some drinks, they really can drink man!!!

Was almost drunk, and headed back to the motel (rented in the evening time) to sleep while waiting for the tow truck to come.

"Kelly Chew", a guy riding Z1000 orange offered me his place to stay but i have already booked the motel and parked my bike there. Too troublesome to shift.

At almost 5am, the truck came but couldn't find my location. I called "Yu", a guy who plays scramblers to see if he can help me speak to the driver.

"Yu" offered to drive me in his car to look for the driver and then lead him back to my bike.

He stayed around to help push the bike up and straped it down to the truck.

In Feb, Keat is having his new house warming. He invited me.

In July, Kelly is getting married in Penang. He invited me too.

The group invited me to pattaya/phuket bike week etc. They have group rides into thailand often.

They went hua hin recently and the malacca 3NCR too !

April, they will be going phuket too.

Will be heading to MHS this year. Choo riding a Z1000 and another guy riding a GTR1400.

Told me to bring some of my SG riding kakis along on their trips too.

Slow down abit, smell the air and enjoy the scenery.

The shop. He is very good with superbikes and big bikes. Chief mechanic of his riding group.

Near to Gurun, the final stretch before reaching thai border.
