Hi,

I have lost both my CB400 Spec2 keys.

Asked around and the only solution I get is to replace the ECU.

Boon Siew code me about $700.(including tow fee, lock smith duplicate "teeth" of key from bike, program the new keys...)

Whereas my bike shop told me about $500 (including tow fee, lock smith duplicate "teeth" of key from bike, program the new keys...) is needed only.

My questions here :

Is it that replacing of ECU can be done easily, even by myself if I have the new ECU on hand?

Is there any other steps / settings / programming to be done after replacing the ECU? Because I heard that the VTEC is controlled by the ECU! (What else, other functions does the ECU control?)

Any special equipments needed?

Hence, is it better to let Boon Siew do it or just go ahead with the cheaper option? If there is no "secret" in replacing the ECU, I would just let my bike shop do it. But if it involves in some hidden steps / tunning of the of the engine which I am afraid my bike shop will not be skilled in it, or worst that they did not know about it at all, I would rather fork out another $200 to let Boon Siew do it. (as have already to pay $500, might as well spend another $200 for a peace of heart feel)

Or is there any method or solution beside replacing the ECU?

May I know if anyone of you out there had lost all your keys for HISS before?

Hope to hear some advices from you guys out there.

Many thanks.

Regards

Mmm.. There was 1 guy whos chip fr the key drop off. But didnt c him follow up the thread. Dunno hw he iz doing... If got chance, mayb can ask him...

I also lost 1 of my key. I'm quite 4getful, so i smtimes leave my key on my bike. I urge ppl nt 2 take away other ppl bike key when u c it left on the bike. Pls insert it under the seat or smwhere whereby he dun need 2 'find' so hard... Dun think that out of kindness u ar helping him protect his bike fr real thief, but.. instead.. itz a key that will b 4ever lost unless u go all out 2 contact him. Very much thxs...

go to boon siew.

they had done it so many times and they know what that are doing.

at least, anything wrong you can look for them again.

rather than later the bikeshop c0ck up, then waste more time n money. and make you more frustrated too.

the price difference ain't that great too. i believe boon siew will give you 2 or 3 more HISS keys. each keys is already worth around $70+.

even if you replaced yourself, in the end still need to go back boon siew to program the keys.

You should be able to get the second key from the bike shop if its still under reloan. If bike shop dun have, best check with boon siew direct and see if your bike is from them. If parallel import then too bad. But if bike shop has the key, then they might wanna ........... !

As if you have a spare key, the duplication can be done from the second key. Pls pm me your contact. Can explain more to you. I need to contact you regarding your case. Thanks.

Parallel imported s4 also can redo keys in boon siew, they are basiclly same bikes. But BS may charge u higher due to bla bla reason, cos you didn't buy their bike.......So to play safe, duplicate another key immediately once you have lost the first one, which i had done bf
