Hey bikers,

Heard that GMAX has shifted from Jalan besar to Paya Lebar. Any info on its exact new location? 2nd question, how long do I have to get my exhaust approve after changing it? I got caught by LTA few days after I installed my pipe. Answers very much appreciated. ;)

caught for? if you have a street legal pipe, LTA have no case against you.

usually you have a grace period of 7 working days to clear the inspection upon installation. but don't quote me on this.

good luck!

Hi there, if lets say i buy and exhaust for overseas and they come with JMCA or european transport ministry, i can actually go and bring all this documents and proof of purchase for inspection?? Do i need anything from sg dealer since i have all the cert?

Posted

if the brand is distributed in SG by a dealer, LTA will require a registration card from the dealer prior to inspection of your bike.

you will also need a letter certifying that proper installation has been carried out for the exhaust.

without the card, LTA will not inspect your pipe.

this is all part of the paperworks. no 2 way around it. ;)

Looks like one will need to have the booklet with him all the time. Sent for routine bike inspection, and the chap there insisted on the booklet with the pipe inspection stamp rather than a copy of the LTA notification/approval letter.

Anyone had same encounter? What are the items we need with us all the time while riding actually?

I can only think of the pipe inspection doc. What else?

You need the actual doc which have the dimensions all when u bought the pipe. Together with approval letter. That's what I thought.

However when I went for annual inspection in the past, I give the inspector the lta official approval paper. He say don't need. Just need to bring along the docs that came with the pipe. He say when riding also same. No need official lta letter.

I'm confused though. If we kena stop by road side, how does the pipe documents actually tell if its approved? Since I was told no need bring lta approval letter.

V inconsistent policies. Not on lta website too.

At end of day, if street legal and approved, they can always check records electronically.

hais..also the same..some was able to get a email to prove that lta allows sticker plate..i've got my feedback from them saying no..that's also one of the reason why i didn't change to aftermarket..because of the hassle and afraid some ass stuff a banana in it due to the large exhaust port like what happen to one of the forumer here..or worse still throw ciggy buttss or pee into it..my opinion is..want aftermarket street legal, sound is already loud enough some are nice don't temper with it and just bring a photocopy cert..at least when inspected by tp/rov/lta or nea..got cert and no need to waste time..or they find fault ask you go back inspection centre..

they will have a inspection center chop stamped on the exhaust documents to certified it as APPROVED and INSPECTED.

Oh ya now that I remember.. maybe that's why we don't need the official letter.

Hope they accept copies of the booket... cos to put the original on the bike risks the incidence of petty theft. I have seen what thieves did to a perfectly nice HB boc with an additional padlock.

do you mean you bought over the whole bike together with the exhaust?

if that's the case, just a transfer of ownership will be sufficient. no need for re-inspection.

didnt the distributor ask u to get the endorsement from the inspection centre after effecting the transfer of ownership?

they stressed the process is not complete until u get the stamp on the pipe's booklet together with your own name on it, not the previous owner's.

the cert or booklet, depending on brands, will not reflect owner's particulars. it will only have the registered vehicle number, inspection date and done by which center.

there will be another card/letter stating the owner's name, NRIC, DOB and Plate number.

yah they took photo of my bike and exhaust :(

most likely can't siam, unless you can think of a way to get a receipt for lost/stolen silencer.

If I bought a bike fitted with Akra pipe, inspection already done by previous owner, how do i transfer ownership of the pipe to me?

Any idea how much would it cost?
