The three rubber pipes are for:

1) Water drain hole at fuel cap area. The fuel cap itself ( about 1.5 inch diametre with rubber gasket) seals the tank itself so water cannot get in to foul up the fuel. However, there are gaps around the fuel cap assembly and key hole which allows rain water to seep through. If you open your fuel cap you will note that there is a hole for the water to drain off. One of the tubes connects to this.

2) Coolant reservoir overflow. This is self-explanatory.

3) Fuel breather pipe. This is connected to a valve under the fuel tank and it's purpose is to balance the air pressure in the fuel tank as petrol is sucked out by the fuel pump.

So, if you see some liquid flowing from the pipes it's easy to eliminate what is the source. Touch the liquid and smell it. What does it smell like? Next, check the coolant reservoir. Is the level too high?

If it smells like water and when you notice the liquid flowing was it raining earlier while your bike was parked?

Unless you have a PC5/Bazzaz or some other fuel map tuning add-on installed, I'm not sure how you would be able to "tune" the Revo. The only thing I can think off is for Boon Siew (or another bike shop which has the Honda ECU diagnostic test kit) to re-set the ECU to factory settings.

As for your backfiring, the O2 sensor may be faulty causing the ECU to run your bike at a rich fuel/air ratio. I don't think you would need to service the throttle body at all.

Don't mean to sabo your sale @Arlwynn but this post is in the interest of fairness to all, especially Revorians here. What do you mean by "NEW"? Is it brand new or used for a short while? FYI, brand new NGK Iridium IX plugs retail for $12 a piece at FJT.

To Ramsnake ...

It`s ok maybe i did`t state it clearly ... Haha ... It`s Brand "NEW" cos i bought it thinking to do my servicing together of changing my plug then now itcy backside thinking of changing bike ...

Anyway i bought it at my frequent bike shop at $50 ... Since you say that FJT is selling at $12 a piece then it would be at 4x$12= $48.

Then i could be letting it go at $48 also ...

Bro ... I guess u could check with Boon Siew about it ??? To my guess it might not be cheap cos that tool kit is unique to each bike because of the combination set of tools to make it compact to store under our seat ...

But don`t worry i can give u the set of the tools list of what it consists inside the toolbag ... Then u can get yourself your own combination at some reputable hardware shop or maybe even cheaper cost...

Hope my post will somehow help you ...

In case of emergency ...

Hi all,

Just a few questions,

Full tank how many liters ah?

I have heard the revo is kinda a problem-matic bike, is it true?

How much for machine price these days and best place to get it?

Warmest regards

Hey bro ramsnake. It usually happen after a heavy rain and while i am riding in the afternoon. I didnt check it because i was too stunned already. But i have a big feeling it is fuel because the smell of fuel was strong for the both times that i encounter. Should i be to worried about this? Never encounter this situation for the past 3 yrs riding my revo and it happen 2 times within 2 weeks.

If it has only happened after heavy rain it is most likely rain water being drained from the fuel cap area. The fuel smell could be because the rain water is clearing off some of the fuel that may have dripped on to the area when topping up fuel in the past. These would have dried and left some residue. When rain water gets accumulated under the cap during a downpour, the rain water dilutes the dried up petrol. When you move the bike from its side stand after the downpour, all these are drained off through the rubber hose.

I'm assuming here that you have not had your tank removed recently for some servicing because the only reason why petrol would leak is because the petrol hose from the fuel pump to the throttle body is not connected properly. In this case, the petrol would leak down the front of the battery box on to the back of your your engine. This would be a consistent leak and won't happen only after a heavy rain.

To test the theory, park your bike and splash water on to the fuel cap area. One mineral water bottle will do. Use a cloth to wipe off excess water from tank and under tank area. Don't open fuel cap to wipe. Then shift bike from side stand. Water should be coming out from the hose. If you haven't been over filling your fuel tank, the water should not smell much of petrol any more.

Hi guys, sorry I'm kinda new in the revo world... Been riding version S all this while and thought of changing to revo.... Jus a few questions

FC. Full tank how many kilometers

Is it a good bike

Maintanence wise

Thank u guys

The Revo has a 18L fuel tank (14 + 4 reserve). The max I have ridden the bike till "dry" is about 16.5-17 litres i.e with 1-1.5 litres in the tank. At this level when taking corners at a certain lean angle, the fuel pump would not be able to suck in petrol. Thus the bike would stall.

Petrol consumption depends on how you ride the bike. Basically, the higher the engine RPM, the less efficient it is. The consumption range for the Revo is 14-20km/L. I get about 13.7-14km/L when riding "flat out", typically at speeds of 165-185km/h. At speeds of 135-150km/h, the fuel consumption is approximately 17km/L. In Singapore only conditions, I get about 19km/L. This is because my rides in SG are typically short, start and stop journeys with only about 15% at highway speeds. If your typical journeys in SG include more highway journeys, I believe the consumption should be at least 20km/L.

Based on the above, 20km/L from 17 litres should get you about 340km before needing to re-fill. At high speeds, the range would be about 210-238km. Do note that these numbers are based on a mostly stock bike.

I bought a Dec 2009 Revo (non-ABS) late last year. In the 9 months I've had it, I've clocked about 20,000km. The only issue I had with the bike was in the first 2 weeks when I was "testing" the bike. This resulted in a burnt magnet coil which was replaced by the shop. Other than that, I've only had to replace wear and tear parts. These are replaced with better quality parts. My set up is as follows:

- New magnet coil at approx. 64,000km

- K&N Air Filter

- HEL brake lines

- EBC HH sintered brake pads in front + EBC pads for rear.

- NGK Iridium IX plugs (CR9EHIX) [Note: For long distance touring, this is the recommended plug rather than the CR8EHIX]

- Mobil 1 10W-40 Fully Synthetic engine oil for cars + X1-r oil additive

- 520 Chaim % Sprockets conversion (Front 15T Driven, Rear 44T AFAM gold anodised + DID VX2 gold chain)

- Scottoiler (just added)

- Bridgestone BT090 tyres (new & lasted for 11,000km). Just changed to BT-023 which are better than the 090s and should last longer.

- 7 point grounding (This is over-rated and any "improvements" as reported by people on the forum are probably because their bike's wiring are old and probably leaking electricity to begin with. Looking back, I wouldn't have done it.)

At 82,000km mileage, the bike is still in very good condition and have served me well. Do note that I regularly do 700km-1000+km tours up north, thus reliability is a major concern for me. Major servicing I would be doing in the next 1-2 months are:

- Brake calipers & master cylinder servicing

- Valve clearance

- Forks and rear shocks servicing

These are all preventive maintenance and should be done on any bike of this age. In fact the valve clearance at this late mileage is testament to Honda's build quality. Some other bikes would have died already if valve clearance hasn't been done by it's 80,000km mark.

To sum up, the S4 Revo is a superb bike so long as you the rider takes care of it.

I would suggest that you don't buy from Boom Siew as they will charge you an arm and a leg for the set! See the list as per the manual. You can all these from Mustaffa except for the "Pin spanner" which is a "C spanner" used to adjust the rear shocks preload. Go back to your bike shop and pester them to give you one. You can also try to buy the C Spanner from FJT at Rowell Road or Ah Boy.

The Revo comes with a big box under the seat and will fit all your tools. Just get a bag (from bicycle shops) to put the in. I got some bags at $2 from Mustaffa. As I go touring quite often, my tools set is more than the standard tools listed. Some of it go under the seat and some go in my top-box.

Says who?? The only problem, I believe, comes from riders who try to save money and/or don't know how to maintain their bikes...

Check the Revo FAQ thread for info on the double swing. It's the battery. If it's still new (less than 1.5 years) just live with it. Might want to consider using lithium batteries when it's time for you change battery. Look in Cypher's post in the Mass Order section.

Very good afternoon guys. Hows everyone been? Long time no post and never meet up...

I've recently encountered a problem in my REVO. This happened after I washed my bike. Not in JB but at my MSCP. Stone cold engine then only I started washing it.

The problem is, the fuel meter is showing only 5 bars when I full tank it. As and when It will go back to 6(which is full). But it also continues to fluctuate constantly. So I need to figure out what is the problem. What might need to be changed. Just FYI, When I first encountered the problem, I used it for about 100km. Then go pump full tank again. Problem persist.

What might be the issue? Cheap or expensive fix?

Bros sori I'm new. Wanna ask wad is valve clearance?

I don't know how to explain what is valve clearance but it is something you do to your bike when you hit really high mileage like 100KM or 150KM.
