well nothing more you can for since you are getting fuel consumption that is twice or even thrice as good as other pple's bike

but wave s or r fuel consumption is almost the same as wave i wat... now my mech at jb is asking whether i want to change wave i to a normal carb so tt easier to do setting. if the cost of setting or fi carb is high i mite as well change it to normal carb capabilities.

btw my mech quote ard 200plus rm to do the conversion.

got almost the same meh? the feedback im getting for waveR/S is like 160-180km then must pump liao, for my waveI i can confidently hold until 250km than go pump. dividing it by 4 effectively gives an extra 10-15km per litre which is quite alot, but rather insignificant cos the wave only has 4 litres in the tank. (imagine extra 15km on the bajaj pulsar tank, extra 250km one tank, wow)

and why would you want to change to a normal carb? you have to remove the ECU, change the CDI, remove the injectors and the entire FI system and then reinstall a carb (and im not sure if the block of the wave-i is designed to accept regular wave carbs anot). surely it won't cost just RM200.

settings for the injectors will never run (or go haywire), unless you have faulty sensors within the system. the settings have to be re-programmed into the ECU. there is no way you can do re-setting of an injector, unlike normal carbs. wave-i does not have carbs. there is no actual need to do settings at all.

personally i have been told by my JB mech-cum-friend that they do not have the capability to repair or carry out such mods to the FI system. not that he doesn't know how to do, it's more of that they do not have the relevant equipment to do it. as per wat they say and i fully concur, it's better to "leave it alone if its running smoothly and not giving you problem".

The fuel consumption almost the same? Im getting more than 200+km per tank then i go pump, its confirm alot more compared to my friends whom are getting only 150-160km and they still got a carb to service lol.

About the conversion thing, it is possible to do it in msia for around 200+rm cos my friend has also heard about it b4. But since u are riding a wave-i, what is the point? I have ride my wave-i for 2years+ already and it has been one of the most cost saving kind of transport for me compared to my previous 2 bikes.

The only thing you are able to set is the idling of it on the left panel.

IMO u should have research more about the wave-i b4 buying it and complaining about this and that. I have done my research and calculations and still insisted to buy a wave-i althought its about $800 more. But this $800 is well worth it in my opinion.

hi silversurfer, long time no hear from you. care to share which is the thing that controls the idling at which left panel?

upz your post :bounce:

although i didnt get a 1st hand wave, i must agree fully with you on that it is "one of the most cost saving kind of transport". i can't even feel my monthly expenses for riding at all. it's sooooooo cost savings.

Sure...

On  the left hand side of the fairings there is a 'grills', look throught it (look very hard).. you will see a very flat screw head with a +, take a long + or - screwdriver and tune it.

If i remember correctly, closewise is for increasing the idling and vice-versa. But its better you try, too long never tune forget liao haha.. and thats the only thing you can tune on a efi.

But seriously after almost 15000km, my wave is still doing 55km/l on 90km/h average.

Hi flykite: i read your earlier post on the wave-s pipe on wave-i, if u look at signature, my bike's pipe was a wave-s tong pipe and it doesn't fit well! There is 2 screws that holds the who weight of the pipe excluding the manifold, but on my bike its only 1 screw holding it. I have since change it back to the original.

Hi Razgriz, i think u should really try plugging out the batt for about 5 to 10 mins. This helps reset the ECU. No harm trying at all la. As for your fuel consumption, check your bike, sprocket and chain makes a difference if the size is not stock, sports rims too will increase the weight as well as your box size.

arsonist: for the settings, i have talk to my thai friend whom is riding a wave-i, he says in thailand, those that do settings for wave-i will bring it to car shops that tunes PGM-FI honda cars. But he also advises me not to as this will send the bike faster to the graveyard.

yeah man. upgrading to super4 liao. i am very reluctant to have to sell my wave to raise the cash for the s4. no choice, but two bikes is a waste. maybe after a few months of superfouring i might decide to go back to wave-i. i so want to keep my hello kitty wave-i.

which other bike can be as problem free and cheap? imagine this: i covered 27,000km in 10months, and the biggest problem i ever encountered was a flat rear tyre due to a goddamned screw (somemore that time just change new bt39ss tyre, basket). RM7 for a full tank that runs more than 250km, RM22 for engine oil, RM10 for spark plug, RM65 for chain + front and rear spocket, insurance less than $300 a yr, cheapest road tax, etc. seriously what else can i ask for???

i think fuel consumption has got very much to do with riding style, your weight and other accessories on the bike. for me, i accelerate very gently, change gears at 20, 35, 50km/h, cruise at 70-80km/h and seldom exceed 80km/h on my meter, im 70+kg, sometimes with pillon, with GIVI E33 box, racing boy sport rims. so my wave is not exactly "lightwweight" so as to speak. but it never fails to give me 200km before last bar starts flashing and i usu hold until 250km before going to pump (around 3.8-3.9L). yes to add on, my wave is fully stock too.

a good fren of mine (yes, you know who you are) also bought a stock wave-i, and the only complain he makes is "IT IS TOO SLOW"... well, lacer mah... he does hard acceleration and cruises around 100km/h most of the time but he is still fetching a good 55km per litre. so well, that should give a rough gauge more or less lah hor?

silversurfer: thanks for sharing! :thumb: i thought interchangeable cos there are some scratches beneath my exhaust pipe (due to a very stupid fall in my own carpark) so i wanted to change it then. but it still runs very fine until this day that i think its not really necessary for cosmetic change.

really sad to sell my bike leh!!!!

anyone can buy from me first, then end of the year i buy back from him???

Hehe i too plan to upgrade soon. But may be keeping this wave-i since its fully paid. my insurance only 200+ so can just consider keeping it for my dad to go market. or when my other bike is down. Im currently running on 45L box, daichii alloy rims, 70kg rider + 45kg pillion.. still can get 55km/h running @ 100km/h.

I too dunno if i should get a s4 or a scrambler... miss those army days and im craving for abit of action.

ahh... keep the wave man. i so want to keep the wave, if only i have the cash to do so now. quite a number of friends actually advise me to just keep it...

btw, 45L box wont make the wave more unsteady??
