hi mate, my current wave nt yet....

Well as long u big bore engine will nt last tat long....

unless yr big bore kit is fr reputable brands...

i have lobang a set of big bore kit.... piston fr Jap & block fr taiwan...

will bore to 147+cc

 

after tat gt 2 change cams etc...

 

Well if on a budget +u wan 'longer' laster engine...

change the cam will suffice.... do a lot of diff....

 

My prev wave was kitted with a full sound system (front 2 speaker, rear box is sound proof with a 9 inch rockforque bass)

it darn heavy with my rack broken once....

all i did was to change the cam & the bike still can go anytime 110km/h (mind U i oso a heavy weight...lol)

so imagine minus all the weight i have on the bike then + the cam mod....

yr wave will be pretty good.... but alas u still can't outrun a spark tat for sure...

 

A fully mod wave can juz keep par with a pretty stock spark.... juz for yr info...

 

so end of the day depends on wat u wana mod for....

 

For me, I travel far to work (to & fro 80km)

thus the nid to do sum basic mods....

Interesting read, and i would love to gather more knowledge seeing as you are pretty well versed in the AOW (Art of Wave).

 

Ok, bad joke on my part.

 

But i do need to increase the bikes pulling power as it seems to run out of breath on simple gradient slopes like those on PIE/Stevens Road.

 

Any ideas to increase its torque? I would prefer to keep the engine as stock as possible (meaning no big bore kit, preferable stock exhaust).

 

I know its not much to work with but is there anything else i can do? Besides losing weight more.... haha.

Neh, i no guru in wave...

it juz tat this is my 2nd wave so abit more familiar with her...

 

Losing more weight is a gd way to go but take time lol...

 

A good way would be to change the cams....

during those days of riding wave, there was no legal approved pipes...

so it juz stock engine with stock pipe & cams...

it will provide the torque...

it norm for the bike to lose power when going up slope... (i kana everyday..lol)

 

I do carry my own voltage stabiliser cum power booster with dyno chart to prove...

before install it will take quite a while for me to hit 100km/h esp aft the 80km/h mark...

aft install i hit 100km/h much easier...lol

it up to individual but trust me... U will love it...lol

 

any way the cam mod is the way to go....

where do U service yr bike? Locally or JB...

tink ain't easy to find cam in SG....

if u have lobang do share the pricing so tat i can compare which is cheaper...lol

does it have any harmful long term effects to my engine?

recommended to do this mod in JB or in S'pore?

 

Btw does anyone use engine brake while riding your Wave?

Is it harmful to the clutch plates of your Wave?

I do engine braking but only on straight line, and never never downshift your wave during cornering!

 

Usually i will kick to downshift, using my backheel i release slowly, its sort of like playing with the clutch (although its clutchless shifting).

ok....

Wave is running on SOHC (single over head cam)

basicallly to put it simple,modding the cam allow greater turning radius of the cam thus increasing the performance aka torque but if over turn too much hit the piston will cause engine failure...

so need to have the correct degree....

 

stock pipe or LV pipe...

LV pipe lighten the bike & increase the bike pick up.

Stock pipe is heavy & so on & so fore...lol

 

Engine brake is impt but no worries on the clutch plates...

1 way to play will be once u drop gear, play with your throttle (blow) & release the pedal thus engine will nt b tat great....

 

As said then,

I bring in my own voltage stabiliser cum power booster aka UNLEASHED... with dyno chart to prove...

it will make the bike run smoother due to slight reduction in engine brake....

 

Maybe We can organise a meetup 1 day then we can compare each other bike & exchange pointers...

 

Regarding Cams, I did mine last time in JB...

now i oso dun noe still have a nt....lol

maybe we can ask ard & compare the pricing & we cna do a mini mo for cams...lol

the top range shock for wave would be Ohlins ($800+)

Next will be showa shock fr S4...

but i noe the pricing can be a bit far fetched & overkill for the bike at times...

 

So nxt will be YSS right???

 

Anyone hv any ideas abt the pricing for YSS shock for Wave??

think it should nt have a canister right??

 

Maybe have a cheaper lobang for YSS...lol

LAB for SG ... Pricing i ??? for last time my 125z was below $200 with install but tat was years years ago...

Ah Qua Lane in JB.... Pricing confirm cheaper than SG due to exchange rate... can go there & hunt....

Vietnam or Thailand... They are confirm the cheapest even U check in oso nt very heavy juz tat it bulky thus may have damage along the way... I freq these places often... I can keep a look out since I flying to Vietnam tis 27 Feb....

 

Hope U all dun find me too kpo or wat.... hahaha....
