Hi Everyone,

Riding a 98 Honda VSE here. Anyone have original exhaust pipes in good condition to sell? please let me know. Thanks!

God, I wish I knew where I can buy them. I would pay for a clean shiny stock exhaust!! Unfortunately marts only sell aftermarket trumpets useless for stock carbs, not even mention a headache with LTE.

I guess the only option is to ride over suburbs checking sudden scrapeyards and other city dumps... If you will find - ask another for me :) :)

Try chong aik. They may have leftovers. Else scrapyards. Hahaha

I have just made Chong Aik a call: they don't have STEED mufflers in stock. Has anyone expected a different result? :nono:

Let's share best scrapyards for STEED owners!:bounce:

Sprint74, thanks! Will try to check it out -- not easy though from the east coast, with the common "9-6, weekdays only" schedule of most businesses here, haha

By the way, you say you have a lowering kit.

Does it look like this?

Cool! I have been thinking about getting one.. Just not sure what tools will be required to fit it and whether I alone can do it :)

Have you ever tried to install it with the stock rear shock, do you really get those 1.5 -- 2.5 inches drop?

Is it easy to fit? Say, would a rear bike stand be enough equipment to install it alone at a parking lot? :)

If u have experience opening up your bike oklah. But better to bring to shop in case ur shock bolts have rusted and jammed. And i can lend you the tools u need to compress the spring to remove the bottom part of the shock.

Thanks for the hint! Great, then I think I will go for getting this piece of metal soon.

I have the softest shock setting and with mine 74 Kg never hit the frame with wheel. Even with a pillion rider :)

Sprint74, I guees you are not selling your one? ;)

Okay, $100 plus your assistance with fitting this beast, haha.

I went to Unique Motorsports shop at Kaki Bukit two weeks ago to replace oil/filter/coolant. So those dorks filled all 3 cans I bought -- 3 liters of oil into the engine

Found this out the next day when suspected something wrong with the bike. Had to use a straw to drain it:

Hi buddy, I owned a steed years ago and sold it on 2007 due to under utilised. I'm new to this forum and don't know how to start a new thread. Anyone can enlighten me how to start a new thread, I want to post WTB Shadow 750.

Thanks

New here too. Are there any steed meet ups here?

Welcome!

I guess just quite a few Steed owners left here in SG and just a fraction of them really love their Steeds.

The controversy COE practice has washed out most of them last couple of years.

De-facto banned customization kills a chance for anyone who could do something with their hands and keeps the rest either dumb consumers who can't replace a blown bulb or dumb shop-owners who has no reason to use brain -- it's not really required to replace a bulb. Sad.

Anyways, fortunately some maniacs are still around :lol:

Thanks..you still riding one?

Posted

ah..of course you are as you just serviced your bike.

Are there any active steed riders still meeting up at all or is this a dino scene liao...?

Posted

Haha, yes, "serviced".

Indeed, I ride solo my stock 2000's VLS-400.

Will try to lower it a bit by shortening the rear shock head with the piece of metal Sprint74 sells here. I am riding with the softest ("1") tail setting and has not bottomed it yet. Will see if a 2.5 inch drop will require a stiffer setting.

Almost a half year ago I ordered new tires from Unique Motorsports, their most recent promise was to bring them early July :gun:

So I do hope those guys would be able to do impossible and get the rear shock out, replace the head and bolt it on back

I also plan to install 4" forward control extensions I have just got -- will keep the community posted on results :bounce:

What bothers me is the exhaust that had ugly dents left by original owner. To my understanding it is nearly impossible to buy a stock exhaust in a mint condition here in SG. Sure there is always an option to buy a used stock one from VLX600 on eBay but I am worrying if it would be legal from the LTA perspective.... Hell knows.:?:?

Posted

sounds like you getting your ride all spanked up..

Would love to see your ride when ready..what special tyres you ordered? Just curious..

Sprint74 - You sold your steed already? Springer with Harley modded tail fender?

Posted

I would not say "spanked up" -- I'm afraid I'm a bit scared to gamble with authorities, haha.

You know, I ride solo -- have the pillion seat removed -- so on the last LTA check in January the guy said "the next time put the back seat on". No comments... So if they say "you cannot change any part of the equipment you bought" I tend to believe. Crap.

No, there is nothing fancy about wheels -- just black Metzelers. To my understanding the troublemaker here is the VLS' 21" front wheel that is not common on bikes here. No one has it here in stock.
