[Q&A] Thailand Train Transport

Hi All,

 

Any experienced tourers can advise if the train do transport ur bike from Bangkok to North and Northeastern Thailand.

Have read other threads when they took from Hatyai to BKK. But have not found any from BKK north bound.

If possible, it would save much time getting out of BKK traffic, when one can just transfer for a North bound train towards Laos or Chiangmai.

I have the schedule of north / northeast train schedule. (taken in may07)

Think its available online (google it).

 

Also can send via their post office. (not kidding)

Every town have a main post office which accept big item. bike/furniture

My experience at Hua Hin yesterday trying to get the south bound train was that the staff could not comfirm if there would be space for a big bike until at least an hour before the train arrival. And I was only riding a super4.

 

It would be easy to get tickets for yourself. But the bike? Hard to say. If just one bike try your luck. More than 2 better not...

Did not make the trip that needed a train ride...was thinking Laos at first....

But tried Krabi instead, also didnt make it....crashed on R406 and had to cut the trip and return SIN. Maybe next time....
