for me, i'm 24 this year and i used to be with anda, but now i think ntuc is the cheapest, and anda will take damn long to refund your back your money if you decide to cancel the bike's insurance. NTUC seems to be the most efficient :)

yup agree with you. the efficiency.

is Anda a company?

thank for replying. I got their quotation alr. btw is there any ways to prove my passing date other than the license card? cos i lost my licence card and it need 1mth to send over to me. and right now i need it for the insurance. any ideas how?

go to your current ins company or motorshop and request from them to make a copy of your driving license copy. calling them up 1st as to where they keep your ins records will save u trouble of heading down to the wrong place. n rem to thank them!

hi guys..

NTUC , Mistu and AXA which is the cheapest insurance company? i know NTUC super expensive.

heard about AIG too..

rem that the quotation also depends on the make & model of your bike and the number of insurance claims on the company for the same make & model as yours. get me? no?

ok.. for EXAMPLE given same age, same road exp, no previous ins claims, same ncd, same policy (eg 3rd party), a honda sp(2B) ins might b cheaper than a kawa krr(2B) ins in ntuc but vice versa in axa.

likewise, honda s4(2A) ins CAN be cheaper than a yamaha tzm(2B) ins on the same ins company..

so for your case, ntuc may b ex for u but not for others.

the only solution is to call up every ins company and ask quotation for YOUR bike. =)

bro, i'd advise you not to lah. every single road block, or simply ad-hoc tp stopping you on the road on random basis, checking of your driving license and insurance is the most basic of all. even if you don't have your insurance paper, they will contact their higher hq to confirm one.

no point playing with such things bro. we didn't get our license easily.

Of course LTA will be notified of cancellations. In the same way as they are notified whenever a new insurance policy covers a vehicle. Simple way to check - buy the vehicle's insurer details from LTA and see.

Hi all,

I would like to clarify something. If say my dad, 30yrs++ exp, buys a bike and insurance is under him only (im not listed as sub-rider), is it 'illegal' for me to ride his bike? I wanna know cause if i ride his bike and involved in some accident(touch wood), is insurance still covered for third party/theft/fire?

If not covered then, lets say im listed as sub-rider, insurance cost will then be determined by my age+exp and not my dad's age+exp am i right? So might as well put bike ownership and insurance under my name or is it cheaper if hes main rider and im sub?

Thanks.

unfortunately, new motor insurance policies have to run for at least 1year.

the only exception is when u have different expiry dates for insurance and annual rd tax. in such case, u can do an extension of the existing policy u have. this extension can be

bike ownership is under yr dad. if u r not listed as sub-rider, it is illegal to ride the bike. if caught, u will get both yrself and yr dad into serious trouble.

i would think that the insurance company will charge you the same premium for both the below scenarios:

- you become owner & main rider for the bike

- yr dad remains as owner & u become sub-rider.

U cant buy insurance for 6 months as mentioned above.

But u can pay insurance by credit card instatment for 6 to 12 months

If u are seriously broke, why not layup ur bike?

Dont ride ur bike, dont hv to pay road tax & insurance.

Take MRT & Bus for sometime.

Then you will be double charged. Riding without insurance (which is already a really serious offence) & attempting to deceive a police officer. All just to save a couple of hundred dollars. Is that worth the risk?

I think that there are very few policies that have sub-rider and they are quite expensive.

If I'm not wrong, car and bike insurance is different, bike insurance need your name to be in the policy or else illegal. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm quite new to these things too o,o

Posted

yes it is illegal for you to ride the bike if you do not have your name in the insurance.

if you get into accident, not only u cannot claim, and your father will get into trouble unless he report the bike stolen by u to ride it.

insurance price will base on the more expensive party.

if put under your name, u will chalk up your NCD. so next time if you wan to buy a bike under your name, then got NCD lor.

yes you can.

bring along your IC & driver's license, owner's IC and current certificate of insurance to the ins co.

the cost incurred would probably be having your name as a sub rider and the admin fee.

calling the ntuc hotline will be the best option if you need more info.

The short answer is the for TPFT, you are also covered for loss or damage to your vehicle

(b) by fire external explosion self-ignition or lightning or burglary housebreaking or theft

For comprehensive, in addition to (b) your vehicle is also covered for loss or damage to your vehicle

(a) by accidental collision or overturning or collision or overturning consequent upon mechanical breakdown or consequent upon wear and

tear

For the long answer please speak to your insurer or agent.
