Hole under the Shadow Ace 400 exhaust

Hi guys,

Recently i notice there is a hole under the exhaust and air is leaking from that hole. After that when i send my bike for servicing, they told me that it is normal that there is a hole under the exhaust.

 

I did a search in the forum it seems that there is a similar hole for phantom bikes but i can't confirm if shadow bikes have hole under the exhaust as well. Any ACE 400 owner can confirm that?

 

I have some questions which i hope you guys can help me with since i can't find the answer after searching through the forum.

1) How much does a new or 2nd hand original exhaust cost for the ACE 400?

2) Anybody bought an exhaust from ebay before and how much does it cost (including shipping)?

3) Any difference if i fit a Shadow 750 exhaust onto a Shadow 400, in term of performance, noise, law....etc? Reason is ebay does not seems to sell exhaust for the 400.

Those holes are purposely made to have a function --- it is actually a drain-hole in case rain-water ingress into ur exhaust. So that the water will not accumulate in the pipes & cause internal corrosion on ur pipes.

 

Now, if u r adventurous enuff, try drilling those holes to make it bigger n u shall hear a much louder rumbling sound frm ur pipes. it depends how big u drill those holes.

 

there r no 400cc bikes in the US my fren. especially cruiser bikes.

the smallest cc cruiser bikes u can find in the us are mostly 600cc's

 

if u wanna get 400cc stuff for ur shadow try Japan. all metric 400cc bikes are produced from Japan only.

 

Go search for a japanese website.

A new exhaust for ACE400 last qouted from Ahboy he say need to order and will cost roughly close to $500+/-

 

As for ebay, shipping gonna cost a bomb....but if u planning to get stuff flown in, do tell us so if other ppl getting anything can share postage cost...

yup, L.A.B do hav stock for shadow 400 exhaust.. but u can check southern motor look for ah huat.. 2wks ago i help him in his store saw 2cs 2nd hand ACE pipe there.price arnd $110-$170. dnt buy more $200BUCK FOR 2ND HAND..COZ he gt it fr sm1 4 50buck... gd luck

Guys, thanks for the information. So far i have spent around a total of $80 for all the repairs that is done to the exhaust... If a 2nd hand pipe cost around 110-170, i might consider getting it the next time another hole appear again.

 

I also found out that the exhaust from a 750 can fit a 400 from this thread in another forum but in term of performance i have absolutely no idea....

There are a lot of useful technical information regarding the maintenance/servicing of Shadow bike on that website mention above and i would said it is quite useful to me.

Ebay does really have a lot of cool stuff for Shadow but as you said the shipping would cost a bomb.... There's a lot of chrome they are selling down there and i am very tempted.... haha
