-number of transfer

-bike color tally with the color stated in logcard(optional, some ppl think same original color = more value)

personal experience

-tires condition

-check any leakage

most imptly, get someone who had experience in the bike to do a test ride, checking the gears and handling.

quoted from my fren jhawk and comments by fleaz:

1. Year of bike and total mileage. usually per year should be 20k km, but as low as possible.

- that's probably average mileage. but i guess most have much lower mileage.

2. best is to meet up and visit seller in the morning, especially if the bike have not warm up after overnight. check if the bike is difficult to start.

- do ask the seller not to warm up the bike

3. ask the seller what oil and 2T he using, however, he might bluff the way through.

- no point lah. anyone can lie about it.

4. check the engine condition, best to ask from motor shop to check for you.

- if possible, bring it to a motordiam to check out the bike

5. check when the road tax ending. will help to save some money

- if it's ending soon, get the seller to renew it

6. check if the bike transfer is bear by the buyer or 50-50. usaully by buyer

- yes, the above

7. check the external condition bike. ask the seller if he meet any accidental or drop the bike b4. Personally check the bike, seller might bluff.

- check out for dents on tank and watch out if handlebar is bent or exhaust is scratched etc

8. take note of the tyres condition. if wheel going to turn botak, request seller to change to a good tyres or request to reduce price.

- get the seller to chop maybe $100+ off the selling price if tyres are botak

9. ram the throttle to abt 7¬8K, see if the rpm respone fast and goes down fast after you close the throttle.

- yes, the above

10. test the bike personally. test at your own risk..

- caution! license may be at risk

11. bring some1 who are more experience on bike.

- yes, the above

save u all these headaches, just go out n buy a new bike tat u luv.....

just take good care of it....save u all problems n keeps u happy riding it. :cheeky:

u never know wat the previous owner did, tat's why he sell off in the first place.

so prepare additional $1k for repair, even though the bike looks new.

Look at your fork, if u see oil coming down from it, then ur fork needs to be serviced.. Even though only 1 part is leaking, it's really advisable to service BOTH of it at e same time.. It's either u prevent "history", or u make "history" repeat itself for e other fork..:D

for alignment test, i guess e old theory of "hands off e handles" still stands.. but do do try it on a very very very very smooth road. With no road hazards or even the slightest bumps.. Gd Luck!:thumb:
