technically yes... lol.. but i think i still lack proper tools for taking out the wheel.. so if i can figure out a way to spray on the bike, i'll take that option.. if not, bring to motortiam for assisstance lor..

and yah about yur whitewalls.. i heard alot of negative comments too.. i was thinking of doing it as well.. but asked ard for suitable paints but none could offer in hte hardware shops..was thinking about stickers.. but the 3m shop in ubi told me theyy peel when in contact with oil... haiszz. see how man..

hahaha..ok.. will be trying to paint my wheels these days provided the weather doesnt suck this much.. anybody interested??

eh bro.. i actually bought the paint to paint my rims like 6 mths ago! but always no time to do it or no intrest. i have totally no idea how to remove the tyres so i figured out i could actually cover the fenders and shocks with masking tape. btw, i got matt black for metal, 2 cans. no idea if it's enough though.

but i don't know if i have to sandpaper the rims or not because they are already corroded.. so they are rough! :help:

hi guys.. updates for my bike.. could only borrow a cam after the aft the sbf event.. those that went to the event would find this old news already.. :cheeky:

i changed my paintjob from satin black to a rough textured coating called an "undercoat" its a type of paint ppl use to spray on car beds.. scratch resistant and very easy to apply.. best thing is, it covers up any f#$k ups u have in yur filler job.. the brand is 3m "rubberised undercoat". nuff said.. look go to the villain album.. the new photos have a different background. can tell easily la..

eh i didn't know u asked me this qun..

hmm according to my uncle, he said he just sanded the rims until they are blur, sprayed once.. a light coat.. sanded the rims again slightly with water... spray slightly again... wait until it's dry, preferably 4 to 5 hrs and then spray lightly again. this should cover the whole rim and the colour should be solid.. if it's not, wait another 5 hrs and spray lightly again.

he said he sprayed once before this... all at 1 shot.. and major cracks started to appear..

thats some seriously good tip man.. ok i'll take note of it.. i presume the first coating will not cover the rim totally rite? the rim will look like its full of black spots witht the silver underneath still visible. then the subsequent coats will cover up the whole rim in the end eh?.. wat about lacquering?? yur uncle applied lacquer to it?? same process as well??

Posted

hey man... asked him earlier bout lacquer... he said he didn't bother doing it and he dosen't know what would happen if u apply 1 shot or bit by bit so he said best not to try.. only try if u have the time to repair it if it cracks.. :cheeky:

yea basically it's a light coat that would not cover up the whole rim la.. just spots over it... and he said remember to sand after every coat of paint..

hmmm btw, i popped by planet earlier... to change my tires and sheesh seems like the dragstar classic front is damn hard to find! he actually called all the dealers including pirelli, michelin, yokohama, bridgestone... bla bla bla and all didn't have a 130 16" tire! only metzeler has one BUT a full set costs $340 or something like that... BUT (again) he went up to the 2nd floor to get an old pirelli stock front tire that could fit mine... had to dig for it! and since it was rather old(but new) i was given abit of an offer la.. :p

hmmm and was talking to one of the mechs and he suggested extending the forks... install longer ones... cut the frame... weld back and spray... very technical stuff... hmm cut the frame? guess we better talk in PM! lolz...

i see.. so how is his paint now?? lasted for how long already??

haha.. about planet.. he's tokking about raking the neck for the chopper look... this is something even i dun dare to think of man.. i even know any welder that is this qualified to rake a neck to the proper angle and squared... u jus need to be off 1 degree sideways and yur bike will handle like sh*t man...too risky.. and a raked neck is a dead giveaway to modification to the frame... however,,... tokking about raked front ends... we can always get raked triple trees.. not the best option but seems like the only option in sg to keep u "safe" from the law.. BUT!!! raked trees aint cheap... it aint expensive.. its damn bloody freakin f@#kin expensive!! lol...

Hi Shiraz ..

Just my bicents worth on the tires you got ... if the tires are old, the compound may not be as good as a new one. Having in front is another point to take note as its always the front skids that never makes it. So be careful on wet days ...

Shiny side up .. always!

have bike will travel . . . . .
