HAHAHAHA...... 1 out of 1000, that use to be my line.... LET ME HELP U Saved some money...

1) Wat type of EO are u using ? Ideas will be 20/50w. less than that u might face oil leak.

2) Fuel gauge- UM have fixed the problem. U can go back now without any charge even if warranty is over.

3) Dig Meter - if your bracket is the caused, than u HAVE to diy something to fix the problem. which i did.

Anyway, U can call me, we have a R & D team here. Dun give up.

Hi,

1) me use to change the $25 per bottle at UM, bt ever since the oil leak problem, i had change to the $10 oer bottle, cause waste $$

2) even fix liao also got problem, can't give correct reading everytime.

3) problem with the Dig Meter is the Meter will invite water to go in and cause vapour / water mark after that.

Hi to all Pulsar rider,

This mth 16th, my bike will be 1 yr old. Here is my point of view for this bike. When i jus got this bike, i gave him 3.5*/5. But after 11+mths of riding, it drop to 0.5*/5.Reason being this bike got too many problems already.

I agree that this bike is a low FC bike, but the money i save on petrol goes to the repair of my bike. It's parts spoilt too easily and it won't last long too. So far, i had changed almost half of my entire bike spare parts. Including left switch, digital speedometer changed 2x, fuel gauge changed 3x, oil seal ring 5x, switch cable 2x, clutch cable, switch clutch, diaphragm(rubber that suck ur petrol), and many more. Moreover my warranty is due, i had to pay for all the maintainance fee and the parts is not cheap either.

The reason for posting this is to let those ppl who is going to purchase this bike to think thrice. Cause for long term, it is not a GD bike to invest on and for transport. I really regretted buying this bike.

Maybe not all rider face the same problem as me and maybe i'm 1 out of the 1000 pulsar that face this problem, but i still hope that u all will think 4 times before buying this bike.

Thanks for the info...that will really let those who decide to buy the Pulsar think 2 times before committing...at least those who subsequently decide to get a Pulsar, at least they know what the issues are, irregardless whether the problems that you faced may only be sporadic rather than across the board....but generally, guess that Honda still rules in terms of reliability.

screw the 200dtsi. changed to battlax. gimme 2 days of mac-dbl-d, and running in of new tires will be done.

sure feels more sluggish. probably need to get used to the higher grip.

driftbaker: its knowing the limits of the bike, and travelling under it. that, and making bloody well sure that its ready for touring.

thanks.. wad abt for pulsar? is it apt for tat?

wad r some of the 2b bikes tat can travel long distances?

hi Nemesis_5K!! i'm someone who is interested in getting pulsar too.. but still deciding.. anyway, does that mean pulsar really has many problems? or did he get the unlucky bike that did not pass QC?

Hi driftbaker,

Dun really know that is my bike the one that din pass the QC, bt i hv come across some of the rider who got the same problem as me. Most of them brought first hand, so bo pian had to carry on riding even thor there is so many problem on this bike.

the fuel $$ i save is spent on to the repair / maintainance + my TIME going dw to UM workshop.

downloaded the product list for Motorex too. Is 10w60 the thickest engine oil for bike? Am using the 20w50 castrol ($5.50 at LAB Regina), this is mineral, not synthetic. I wonder what are the repercussions if using mineral in the long run, and likewise for synthetic. Some say using synthetic too long may cause your gaskets and oil seals to give way (as it's too fine) and cause oil leaks, whereas minerals tend to wear your pistons faster because they're too coarse.

Okay pertaining to vanselle's problems - UM did say that Bajaj sent their first batches of UG3 with serious problems, especially Digital Speedos, and they promise to replace them for free if you're experiencing those problems for bikes during that batch. Meanwhile, as a Pulsar rider, the only few problems that i've experienced are,

1. Electric Starter fuse blown. Bike can't start with electric start button.

Solution: Kick start, tahan for 1 day, brought to a bike shop (Mah

Motorparts) where the skillful mechanic just switched fuses -

our pulsar has 2 interchangeable fuses which is a good

inclusion

2. Signal Lamp blown, around 7k mileage.

Solution: Had it changed for $2.50

3. Occasional clutch slippages: differ from EO to EO. Wet clutch what, what

to do.

4. False Neutrals, rarely.

12k in mileage and raring to go. Honestly, i think this bike is solid enough to see through my 10 year COE.

har.... depend on ur definition.

I'm 1001 ( nick given by Michael of UM)

When i first got the bike, it already given me problem. But Problem doen't mean I give up on the bike, even if when the mech say, "IT like that ones"

I went down every monday to troubleshoot the problem. Till i found out what the cause. From there I "mod" the problem and try to solve it permantly with the help of LindaVw. That why we form a R&D Team. To be Honest, I'm a "P" plate holder. I owe my knowledge from my puslar.

Just share with you wat i change b4 warranty ended. (not included other MOD)

1) Digital Meter casing - 4 time

2) Digital Meter - 1 time

3) Fuel gauge's float - 4 time

Seem like nothing.... but the progress is "phew" now my warranty over, my bike also stop giving me problem, except the Fule gauge which is recently fixed FOC.

It helps me to know my bike better.

Regarding the PROS

LEt compare Gilera Petrol coms. and Puslar petrol Coms.

Gilera is about 8L (SDG$ 2 x 8L = SDG16 )which can travel 200km

Pulsar (for me) is 19L (SDG$2 x 19L = SDG53)which can travel 600km

My petrol comsuption is high becose i always going at Full Throttle.

Plus i staying at East, i can afford to go JB to pump every 2 weeks.

At JB, I pump 19L @ about Rm35 (Vpower), than coming back to singapore to my home is about 26km.

In my view, Some bike dun give problem, but once they give problem.... it going to cost a bomb. Pulsar got alot of problem but they can be solved.

i also think so, i think UG3 is still not that stable..

Bt i met an uncle at IKEA few mths back, he complaint to me that he jus repair his bike which cost him $300 - $400. I think he repair his gear box or wat. He's riding UG2, and he say that this is the most lousy bike he ever rife.

I was still laughing and thinking, got so Jia Liat Meh

Every bike has got its problems and needs. But i often hear people complaning about its problems, seldom discuss about the bike's needs.

All machinery needs varying amount of care.

Take for example our pulsars. UM recommends changing eo at 2000km interval, but i often hear people stretching to 3000km some even 5000km.

I always change my eo below 2000km mark. engine has not given me any problem.

Pulsar's engine may not be comparable to honda's engine, but if you take good care of it, it will last.

The older generation generally skimps on servicing. Stretching eo change interval, using unsuitable eo, stretching everything to the max before they are willing to spend money to repair when its broken.

At my place there is an old bike. the owner really terrible. the bike is leaking eo everyday. the carpark floor is slippery from the leaked eo. half a year has pass and that uncle (owner) still don't bother to repair.

Pulsar main weakness has got to be "trying to be technologically advance" but it has failed them terribly. Their main problem is in the electrical design. Most of the stuff are controlled electronically. anything shorted you will have weird behaviour from the bike.

Go compare the wiring harness of the pulsar and a honda's bike, and you can tell a big difference. Think of a bunch of wires wrapped in electrical tape vs a bunch of wires held by proper electrical insulators.

Those using UG3, if you see water condensations in your meter, try to solve that problem, if not one fine day you might find corroding components on your meter's PCB.

My next project will be changing out the whole electrical harness.:)

hi vassele,i decided to share stuffs regarding my pulsar as people r wondering if its a problematic bike. been using it for 10 months plus and the problems r NEVERENDING! 1st- its the cone bearing that shakes and cause the front to wobble just after 1 month plus of use.

2ndly- its the meter. changed it twice but results still same. everytime shows reserve whereas tank is full.

3rdly- its front headlamp there has lots of noise and vibration. its as though the bracket holding the lamp not strong enough. even when riding at high speed, bikes vibrates and wobble alot.

4thly- gear slips very often and for no reason it will go to false neutral. its very irritating since it happens often. um mechanic to be honest dont really know exact problem.

5thly-the tendency for clutch plate to wear out is very fast. the clutch rod also wears out fast and after replacing it, bike feels funny.

6th and lastly- spare parts COSTS A BOMB! ITS ACTUALLY VERY CHEAP IN INDIA BUT SHREWD PEOPLE WHO IS MONOPOLIZING THE PULSAR MARKET PRICE IT ACCORDING TO THEIR FREE WILL. money that is saved on petrol actually goes to servicing, spare parts. My conclusion is that its a bike that CANNOT last long
