 hey bros pulsar tyre size can change to roadwin like dat?? must change rim or just tyre can?? sproket also? pls help :help:

I changed the stock tyres immediately when I bought my Pulsar from Universal Motors. Bridgestone Battlax BT39 for $120. 110/80 rear, 90/80 front. I'm not sure but I dun think the stock rims can take bigger tyres than that.

When are you guys having a gathering? I am a Bajaj Avenger rider and my friend (who doesn't have ready access to internet) rides a black Pulsar. Btw, do you guys use a bike cover?

Yes, I do. In fact I have 2 of them! Since my bike doesn't have a box, I have 1 at home and 1 at my workplace. But I only cover my bike when it rains, or abt to rain, or when I won't be riding for 2 days or more.

The next gathering of Pulsar riders will be the DIY session for the hazard lights. When? Only when Bro Paiseh is free, so only he can answer that.

avenger already in singapore???

Yup. Saw it at Universal Motors' workshop at Bukit Merah when I went there for my bike's 1st servicing. Looks smaller than the Phantom.

Kckerk also mentioned in the previous post that he's riding one.

Hey Jeff, glad u weren't seriously injured, man! What abt the damage to ur bike?

Anyway, this is a reminder that junctions are 1 of the most dangerous zones for motorcyclists (for cyclists and pedestrians too). So do slow down and do safety check when approaching junctions. And always keep a look out for road hazards. We can be the safest rider in the world but all it takes is just 1 careless or inconsiderate road user to cause an accident.

I know it's warm and troublesome, but I always wear full protective gear like full-face helmet, jacket, gloves, long pants and boots (or at least proper shoes) when riding. Hope u guys do too!

Dress for the fall, not the ride!

Being a new rider, I am also concerned about the times when I would have to do emergency braking too. In SSDC, we only learn how to do E-brake at 3rd gear around 30km/h. What if I have to do E-brake at 5th gear at more than 50 or 60 km/h? Would I be able to apply the same technique and brake safely? I don't know, have not tried it out yet. Not sure I want to try on my new bike also, what if I fall over? :giddy:

Roadrunner, where did you get your helmet, jacket and boots? My helmet is the cheap type provided by the dealer, and I have only one.:help:

Roadwin's stock tyres: Front 110/70, Rear 140/60

Pulsar's stock tyres: Front 80/90, Rear 100/90

Both bikes come with stock 17" rims.

Wider tyres have more grip, which translate to better braking and turning, due to the larger surface area of the tyres that comes into contact with the road surface. But the downside is that this also mean that wider tyres have more rolling resistance. This leads to higher fuel consumption, which is also due to the heavier weight of wider tyres.

At the end of the day, the best person to ask whether the size of the rims and tyres that u intend to get is suitable for ur bike is the shop mechanic himself.

Paiseh,

I found only 1 motordiam at Bt. Merah (HKL) that sells AMSOIL. Is that the shop that u saw selling AMSOIL? But they only have the 10W-40 lah. No 20W-50. So I didn't bother asking the price. But then I didn't check out all the shops there because it started to drizzle.

By the way, if u guys are wondering what the hell I'm talking abt, it's the AMSOIL motorcycle oil which is reputedly the best there is.

AMSOIL SAE 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil

Currently, their online store only delivers to U.S. and Canada addresses. Pls keep a look out for this oil when u go to any bike shop. Thanks.

Why dun u just take ur bike back to the shop for the mechanic to check it? It's free anyway.

really higher fuel consumption.? well i dun know, what i read from India website about pulsar and say after chaning to a bigger tyre, thier fule consumption slightly better.. i dun know..

anyway Jaeson, if you're thinking of changing to a bigger wider tyre/rims, good job.. definitely better grib and also get thos rim that able to put a rear disc brake. thats one of my list in my 'Mod List' but kinda tight on my budget.. slowly slowly i change lah...

and the best place to do chaning of rim is definitely in JB, cheap and i feel they entertain u better unlike singapore motordiam, they follow thier mood, if they lazy or tired, they say cannot be done lah, this and that. jus my opinion. no offence to anyone.
