Anyway, my bike is stock set-up, except for the following that I've done:

- change stock tyres to Bridgestone Battlax BT39, 90/80 front & 110/80 rear.

- change stock front no. plate to sticker type.

- change stock pilot lights to white LED lights (1st DIY session)

Need help regd my Pulsar guys.

I am reading everywhere that Pulsar (180 cc) is giving a mileage of 45-50.

Mine gives only 37-40.

I checked with Universal Motors, but they don't give a positive reply. They just shrug off the query.

Any clues anyone how can I get the mileage improved?

Thanks...

Bro, dun panic. Ur fuel consumption, although on the high side, is not that far off from other Pulsar riders'. My own current fuel consumption is 40-43km/ltr.

Current price of Pulsar: Sorry, no idea. U gotta check with the shops or those who've just bought their Pulsars.

Insurance: Can try Mitsui. Their price is 1 of the lowest (if not the lowest), but not sure whether it's the best.

Interest: 5% of loan amout per annum.

So, as u can see, to get 50km/ltr, ur top speed cannot exceed 60km/h at 5000rpm in 5th gear. Practical for neighbourhood roads, but definitely not on expressways. U can refer to Pg.14 of ur manual for fuel-saving tips.

maybe can try reducing rear sprocket size so tht at 5k rpm u can go faster than 60...?

mine does 39km per 1litre... its normal due to our style of riding on our highways...

but i read in xbhp.com which is a bike forum in india.. some complain of piston rings being worn off.. which i can clarify since iam not bike incline.. mayb some braders can clarify this.

when topping up engine oil do check oil yr dipsticks when the engine is cold and after a long ride....

normally a bottle of engine oil is enuff but some are not enuff... poor level off engine oil will cause faster wearing off of our engine.

BAJAJ Pulsar 180(apr06)-(nov07)

HONDA NSR 150 sp(nov07)-(mar09)

HONDA specIII(mar09)-(dec10)

HONDA wave125(dec10)-(nov12)

YAMAHA rxz135(nov12)-

top speed: TBC

mileage: miles away

Hi folks,

Haven't posted here for a while. Been two months since I got my Pulsar and thought I'd share my comments on the bike.

Overall it's a good ride but I guess you can't take my word for it since the only other bike I've actually handled were the ones at the driving centre. I find the braking isn't very effective so will be changing the front brake cord (sorry if I don't know the technical term for it) sometime soon. If that doesn't work I might install new set of front brakes. The rear (drum) brakes appear to be sufficent for now. Plus, I'm told to change them I'll have to get a new set of rims.

Here are details of my bikes fule consumption:

1st month:

Pumped 17l and travelled 788km. Didn't dare to go into reserve as I'm a newbie. I'm sure the bike could've crossed 800km (on reserve). Anyways its not a fair assesment as I was going at strictly 60km/hr.

2nd month:

Pumped slightly below 17l. Managed to go 756km. Haven't really stuck to the "70km after 2nd servicing" suggestion. From time to time I went up to 90-100km/hr. Again not a fair comparison but lets you gauge the average fuel consumption of the bike.

Roughly the bikes consumption has been about 45km/l which isn't as high as the supposed 50km/l mark but its way above most other bikes performances.

I have no real complaints about the bike other than the braking issue I mentioned earlier.

I hope this information helps potential Pulsar riders. Enjoy!

Hey dude,

I've been long waiting to meet up with fellow Pulsar riders but sadly this Saturday I can't make it as I have prior commitments. Please do let me know if you guys organise another outing. I'll try my very best to join you folks.
