i need ur opinions here....

wat u mean by full service?

do u need 2 clean/polish ur piston n block?

if yes,how often?

cuz spark is 4 stroke n nt much carbon residue on it compare to 2 strokes which is using 2t

 

or juz service carb n air filter will juz do?

anyone noes???

hi bro,

 

to wat i noe from my mech, full service means bringing down your engine. dismantle every thing which include carb, block, piston, con rod and some other things. your mech will wash the parts with petrol and a brush. if there's still some stubborn carbon residue, he will use a power tool with a metal brush . once done he will install the parts up, use a new set of gasket, tune the carb and test it out. if your piston has "burnt" marks, maybe yr mech will advice to change.

 

dun be surprised, i once saw a 6 year old cbr 6 engine which has not gone for a single service before. all four carb are filled which hard carbon. it is as hard as rock, same as his valves. from my perception, i will send my bike for full service every once a year. by doing this, i know that i will have a feel of a "new" engine.

i bought a 4 year old wave last january. my mech gave a test ride and he said that the engine can be better so i asked him to make full service. it cost me about $400 including a new piston and rod. in the end, i'm very satisfied coz it felt like a new ride. i also change my eo every 1500km to maintain that good feeling. BUT, full service prices will depend on the mechanic himself. hope you'll find a good mechanic and at an affordable price.

If u wanna full service u can go JB what i do usually. The price will be less 2time. Bt juz tell u sumting u need 2 noe them well coz if nt they will KETOK ur money. Or best sumtime their service any how 1 coz lot of customer.

 

I gt a bad experince from 1 shop there so juz becareful. Sum ppl said what u pay is what u get.

hi bro,

 

for me, i dun really believe jb workmanship unless i've been to the same mechanic often. what you may want to try is, you can try to find piston, rod and gasket in jb and bring it back to s'pore. then you find a reliable mechanic and ask him to service and change the items.

i want change air filter, oil filter , wash the carb and change ice water. something liddat.

your carb bo tai ji don't need to wash lah. Somemore you got air filter, won't so fast dirty to the state that it will run very badly. That's what I feel.

 

air filter can change yourself. Engine ice is overkill IMO.

oh, didnt know , since i brought this second hand bike. not sure what the prev person do, but if a pillion some one must high rev then can go gear4.

if rev to little, go gear 4 with pillion. engine will like jerk heavily.

I also just bought a 2nd hand sparks.. Maintaining it regularly with engine oil and pumping good petrol to me now to take care of the engine is like useless.... Thought of overhauling the engine than maintain it well. What do you people think? Is this a good way or stupid way? Cause i really don't know how the previous rider rode.
