Hi guys, couldn't join y'all. I still have a CD each for VTR1000SP and SMOKEYPIPE.

 

I found out last Saturday that I lack the stamina to ride this bike for more than one-and-a-half hours at a stretch without taking a half-hour rest - must be really getting old, man.

 

Also, I've detected the cause of the low clutch reservoir problem. It was a really-slow seepage at the o-ring seal where the clutch fluid reservoir connects to the clutch pump at the left handlebar. It's because of this minor problem that caused the reservoir to run low after about a month of riding. I was cocerned for a while that it was the clutch slave pump - I'd actually already bought a slave pump overhaul kit:slapforehead:. Never mind, keep as spares.

 

And also, ... won't be joining for Sepang. Ride Safe.

Guys it my turned needed helpeld...my head light not wking...everything have light, tail brake & meter but no headlight///..i jz change to a new bulb but still zero...... wre is the fuse box.?...

Think I saw once once I was fixing thew alarm , under the rear seat , may have to take out seat fairing , just 2 screws at the side, I am not sure -

 

Frank Y , not bad already 1.5hrs on the saddle, it is not oldness la, fitness could be an issue , I have resorted to sit-up , bench press etc.... running just to fit to ride this bike - I just wondering if I cud last to Sepang ha!! ha!! Any VTR Firestorm riders, pls post here

Fusebox inside left lower fairing above radiator reservoir. You're sure your lights connector wires didn't putus?

 

Also, disconnect batteries when checking fuses - as a safety precaution; better still, when doing anything electrical(sudden arcing causes a surge of current that can blow fuses, bulbs, sensors, etc).

 

And clean light bulbs with isopropyl alcohol/rubbing alcohol(around $3, can buy from Guardian pharmacy) before fixing, and try not to touch the glass part. It will blow if there's grease on the glass - different coefficient of expansion from the heat.

Hey, when I was struggling to reach Mersing, I was thinking to myself, 'Wah, how did SMOKEYPIPE make it during those rides I went with him?' Moreover, it was actually only one hr twenty mins and already tired.

 

I actually planned to turn around at Pekan or Rompin, but after a 30 min breakfast at Mersing, I chickened out and came home:lol:. ... Must try again.

 

Sepang might be easier - petrol runs out before one-and-a-half hrs on NSH, so non-stop only one hr.

Frank u can 1 la, is juz tat u not use to ur RC51 riding posture, even 4 my my age too long nv ride oso cant take it...juz ride more often can liao !

 

Max i encounter this problem b4 oso, all light work except head light, my problem was the head light switch...u check ur fuse 1st den see izzit ur fuse or head light switch.

Chris u might wanna plan a local ride after coffee session 1st den after tat we go to all the SG places tat can play conner 1 to play a little bit of conner , etc MS, 99 Bend, Mount Faber park den IBP International Business Park follow by last stop 2nd link clear carbon & pump full petrol & every1 can go home rest. coffee session mayb 2 to 3 hrs follow by those conner trip think will take abt another 3 hrs the most ba...

Ya lor, this is the way two OLD men talk. Moreover, I call SMOKEYPIPE kor kor by 1 year - he lagi old:lol:. If he can do it, how come I can't.

Riding 1.5 hrs non-stop at PG is something I definitely can't do - guaranteed, chop-chop:). I think I'll just go Mersing once every 3 weeks. Anyway, I'll be riding to a beach near Sepang tomorrow. Try see how.

The rear brake disc looks like a carbon disc - will only heat up enough to be effective after riding hard for 10 hrs on S'pore roads:lol:.

 

Ya, must ride more often and strengthen my lower back. Anyway, this is the first time I own a sportsbike(for only 3 mths), so must do more training.

For our bros, advised dont go Extreme Equipment for yr service...yesterday when there to fix fast trottle & handle clipon..infront of my eyes they dont know how to do bike as not true mechanic at all...they damage my HRC fast trottle & nearly snap of the trottle cable..

I prefer to go to a shop where the mechanic for the bike has been doing bikes for decades, not a mechanic hired from M'sia or a greenhorn(if they look young, they are unlikely to have enough experience). Afterall, I wouldn't want anything breaking down if I am going at speed. Simple things, I'll do myself.

 

Hey MM, I also have low-beam headlight blown like yours:). Only realised it after leaving a petrol station at 6pm coming back to S'pore. Probably bulb-life due. I haven't checked it yet but might also be fuse blown cos I redlined the engine in fifth gear. Don't know whether also in sixth cos I didn't dare to look.

 

I won't be going for this Sunday ride. Have a good and safe ride then, guys.

yesterday send my bike to wkshop...leave the bike there ... very senior mechanic...to he done the trottle set up...now need to change the radiator cap?...how much issit?...my bike the charging got problem...well at least he now wat to do....

Sprocket - cannot fix due rear 520 conversion & mine 525.....

The engine still didn't sound hurried... just a quick, relaxed throbbing compared to my in-line four - which also have around the same red-line rpm.

 

You're still exposed even when you've shifted all the way back? Maybe you can sit on my bike and see the difference. My windshield is lower compared to your double-bubble.

oh my is like yours, very original , no double bubble - could be a case of a "old screwed -up neck " I can't put my chin on the tank & look up & see the road ahead ha!!! stiff neck , not bike problem , rider's - maybe I need to try someone's else with double bubble & for this reason maybe I should do a quick Sunday morning run !! ha!!! thinking thinking !!!
