Guys normal riding seeing 104 degrees on thermo , normal or not , it was my first time to use in town , stop & go traffic cos ST went for servicing , fan was already on - was wondering if bikes are like the Mercedes Benz whereby we can change the thermostat for the fan to start at 80 or 90 degrees rather than at 100 degrees -

 

another Q !! do any of you fel a shudder when you accelerate from 2nd gear from around 2.500rpm , like the chain too tight kinda of sound then becoming alright after passed 3,500rpm ???? Dr Frank Y , care to help ?? Maybe you love bikes so much , should'nt you open a bike repair shop , will be great for us !!!! ha!! jsut joking

yes i have the same thing happening, cant remeber its at gear 1 or 2 then got the shudder feel... but its normal right?

 

and if you want to alter the fan activation on diffrent temp, why not connect a switch so that you can on it when you want? whats what i did for my CBR also,

 

i easily kenna 98 to 103 if i am in jam. the honda user manual got talk about best operation tempreture.

M Max, Frank , & others , do you have the same shudder at 1st or 2nd gear taking off ??? sounds or feels like chain too tight or too loose- how was th eride guys , any report hwo hit 260kmh ??? yep forgot might as well fit a switch & on the fan way before it climbs up

smokeypipe, no la din hit 260.. i was bout 220+ at most, but turning at 200 was sure a diffrent feeling for me. tried to get one butt out of seat and knee out , but only to realize that my knee swinged hard to when i did that!

 

and can our side radiator be modified in order to bring to the front? like this one in the pic? any disadvantage and cost?

I'm not too sure what shuddering you're referring to. Our SP1 1st gear is tall and I will usually pull till 4,000rpm in 1st before changing to 2nd. I'm seldom in 2nd gear in HDB carparks. No shuddering. Your clutch is ok right?

 

You might consider bleeding your coolant system first - there are usually air pockets still left in the system cos not many people bleed more than once just after adding/changing coolant. Also, the bleeding done might not be thorough. I usually bleed 3 times within 2 weeks of riding just after changing coolant. I will also bleed at the radiator cap and the top-most points of hoses. Also, check for leaks.

 

Note: The boiling-point of the pressurised coolant is higher than 100 degC.

 

The fan kicks in when the temp is 102 degC. Shutoff engine and don't ride when the coolant temperature reaches 122 degC(overheating redlight comes on). I will shutoff if I ever hit 110/115 degC and push at 1st link jams. 104 is ok(though an operating temp of 75 - 95 degC is better), just have to ensure that it doesn't keep rising because the cooling system might leak or hoses burst due to the build-up of pressure at high coolant temperatures.

 

You've seen cars overheating with a big, dramatic cloud of steam at 1st link jams, right? Same thing. Hmm... could have been my car you saw - happened to me 4 times before.

 

A thermostat with a lower-temp activation setting is recommended, though it will unlikely make a difference to high temperatures in a traffic jam - it's the fan which cools the engine from high temp, not the thermostat.

 

A more powerful fan might be effective, though I've yet to source for any of these components cos my bike only reached 102 degC when I was caught for 30 mins in a jam. I think the SP1(only 1 fan) might be able to put 2 fans like the SP2 - I've not researched on it yet.

 

Another thing, don't internally break or remove the thermostat for free-flow cos you will also want the engine/oil to warm up quickly from cold(oil and air/fuel mixture also have an optimum operating range).

A few test reports state 270 kph radar gun top speed, standard setup - not speedometer reading(which changes according to changes in sprocket size, tyre circumference, etc). Speedometers usually overread 5 - 10 percent.

 

There's also the fan motor switch at the left radiator. It is an automatic temperature-activated switch which activates the fan at a preset temperature. It is the bi-metallic strip inside which bends to form an electric closed circuit. It's already automatic, don't have to fit a manual switch. You might want to consider getting a lower-temp fan motor switch.

Dat normal ...i think we nd to change sprocket Front 15 & rear 41 ...dat wat the the RC51 forum said so...i might b changin to 15f/42r..same as Haresh & musli...

 

Last sunday was a blast...I, Andy & Haja...blast 2nd link...238km/h...eat at Malaysia MC D...I top up petrol Shell V power RM 37....wat huge tank...

Track day ??? we should go genting , do the twisties , then hit Karak highway etc... ha!!!!anyway I am thnking of making my bike liek a KTM Super Duke ie chage the riding position street fight -look , anyone especially Musli , know where I can get a Front cowl that covers the headlights , I need to do race faring but just the front cowl so I can cut & instal Rental handle bars etc....

Track riding n Mountain riding is 2 different kind of style.... For me Track is a good place to improve ur skill and understand ur bike more.. Its the place where u can max out ur lean angle with out fear n can have people taking ur max lean angle pics... Mountain riding is more challenging !!! Its unpredictable n its tight no room for error.. Especially downhill .. Another gd point is nice scenery while riding...

Both is challenging yet fun....

Dropped your bike so fairing broke hah? Why don't buy another bike and do it up like a streetfighter? Or straightaway buy one? Also can get a 1200cc or CB1300 and do it up - not only a streetfighter, but also a expresswayfighter:angel:.

 

Sell me your fairings/cowlings if you don't want them:P. I like keeping spares cos I want to keep my bike for a looonnng time - that is, if I'm still alive n kicking.

mass Order for our bike products/accessories.. thats a good team work idea. if i order i will sure inform the fourm bout it.

 

 

this week,i realized that my clutch resovior was empty! visibly i can see a hole in the soft rubber covering. so went to get it checked at race werk at bukitmerah, the cluctch kit(piston , spring and sealant was in the packet) cost $65, and did break bleeding for the three calipers $15x3. did it for maintances/safety sake. haiz , 110 spent this month, thought of doing up on some accessories for the bike... got to postspone already..

 

i am looking for a normal alarm, usually the expensive ones are very sensitive right? any suggestion, or should i just get one from the MO forum?
