thanks got it already for my fren..but the problem seems to be the wiring which is drawing current even while the ignition is on so we have another flat batt here :giddy:

Have you found out which wiring is drawing current even while

the ignition is off?

Hey guys wanna check with u all if u all know tht does Bandit V comes with a centre stand by default?

Cos mine previously had, another 2 i saw they had. But my fren now getting one frm a shop doesn't have a centre stand.

Bro, I asked around and the banditV comes with a centre stand.

Maybe the owner of the bike took out his centre stand but

why I really don't know.

May I ask who is your regular mechanic? Thinking of

trying a new one.

How to check if it is really the IU? Same thing is happening

on my friend's bike. He consulted a mechanic but he was informed

that maybe it was his alarm.

Yep, that's possible if the bike is retro-fitted with one.

In fact, it'll be good to run through a laundry list of what other equipment on the bike draws electrical current without having to turn on the ignition switch. I've seen bikes (not Bandit) fitted with stereos, cigarette lighter, etc.

His bike got a cigarette lighter also connected directly to

the battery. But I was just wondering how come there are

bikes that got these things but got no battery charging problems.

Hi Skybono,

Usually accessories like cig lighters are usually designed for in-vehicle use.

The contacts (+ and -) of a cig lighter is usually spring-activated, ie the heating element end is pushed in, contacting the + and - which runs the electric current through the heating element.

As the bike is exposed to weather, there is a possibility of rust accumulating at the contact ends, which is usually exposed. When the rust accumulates, sometimes, the + and - ends contact briefly, causing such unwarranted and mysterious current draw.

Accessories designed for motorbikes usually have electrical contacts that are sealed to protect against the rain and dirt. A work-around to protect exposed contacts would be, of course, good old silicone sealant.

Does anybody knows when Guan Hoe (Eunos) will be re-opened again? My bike needs maintenance real bad.

Back in business begining of July 2007. You can still reach Guan Hoe at their usual number for workshop cos Margaret is manning the line at Guan Hoe Sales office. You may want to drop them a call to confirm the opening date and probably they can get the spares ready for you.

Btw, what sort of maintenance does your bike need?
