there's only one screw that doesnt require u to use any special tools to turn it. kinda like a volume knob that u can turn. its definitely at ur carb area.

2 adjust e compress/rebound by e shock spring of ur bike rear shock by urself, get a C-spanner @ hardwareshop/ur bike shop/diy store n a WD-40 (just in case e teethed nut got seized/difficulty in turning), then experiment urself by turning C-wise/Anti C-wise. Don wanna get dirty or get cut/bruise ? Go 2 ur bikeshop n had e mechanic 2 adjust 4 u.

Hi pals,

I recommend all new bandit riders do carb tuning n clean, change new spark plug like NGK cold type n buy gd plug cap to prevent rain gng in.Cos if carb dirty or spark plug problem idling will be bad.

To check if ur 4 pipe is running, pour water on the exhaust below radiator if water dint evaporate fast.one of the carb not working. If worse case Ignitor,CPU might be faulty.cost EX$$$ find 2nd hand

My idling is smooth and gd after gd maintenance.

I seen a 1250 @ Mah Showroom a few mths back. Machine price was 17-18k if i remember correctly. Physically almost identical from the 650 other than the 1250 indications.

BTW didnt know Bandit riders other than the 400s frequent this thread.

I'm riding a GSF650K5. A sweet ride i share between myself n my wife...

Cheers guys.

I didn't know the c-spanner was such a common tool? I'll check it out. Thanks!

There are different sizes for C-spanners - according to their diameter/key. Better to test the spanners on the bike before buying, if there's access.

and best to put the bike on centre stand with rear wheel off the ground. it makes changing settings much easier.-due to lack of load on the suspension itself, u can make changes more easily.

U mean the 650 k7 is there as well??

Frm pics online 1 difference i spotted was the metre panels the 1250 has a chromed ring ard each speedo n techometre.

Comparisons were based on the 650k5 which i ride. Actually bet the K5 n K7s, form the pics differences are difficult to spot unless u are very familiar with it. If you're sharp, u shud be able to spot the EFI where the carbs were n the ABS(most K7s come std with ABS in europe).

Between the 650s n the 1250s, as said differences are only certain indications.

Dun think there will be many who'd choose bikes like the GSFs with most prefering the GSRs or FZs. I chose my 650s bec of 2 reasons:

1. Simplicity - being a variant of the prev bandits 600s, need i elaborate more with the carbs n oil cooling...

2. Real usable power - Power stats isnt fantastic(due to its simplicity) but its @ where u need it 95% of the time, the MIDRANGE. I dun tour @ crazy speeds and it returns ard 21-22km/L 2up fully loaded when ridden

Cheers!

any reccomendation for aftermarket suspension for bandit400?

if yes, any idea how much it roughly cost?

another question, the coolant water, can top up ownself?

if yes, where? how? use tap water? or got special distilled water etc?

PROBLEM is not serious, if it can be solved with MONEY ... the PROBLEM comes when you have NO MONEY

confirm? guan hoe not bringing in huhz? muz be not enugh demand bahz...

CS- i'm not sure if bandit uses water coolant or oil coolant. but if it is water coolant then:

to top up coolant, u need:

1.the same brand of coolant. (premix or concentrated)

2.distilled water if it is concentrated coolant.

3.hands and a funnel.

so u open the radiator cap pour in the coolant straight if its premix or mix the concentrated one with distilled water urself 50/50.(use the funnel so no spills)

then close the cap back slowly. dun spoil the cap seal.-if not the coolant will leak/pressure lost/radiator wont work well.

erm..how long has it been since u last replaced coolant? mabbe its time for a flush and a change. time to replace coolant is ARD 1.5/2 yrs. have fun playing with ur radiator!! i did. and the radiator cap caused me some problems. hehe...

For coolant flush, i rem ter used 2 b a product (3 cans) for it, 1 is 2 flush out rust n coolant induced deposits, 1 for preventive coat, 1 i 4got wat 4 liao.:cheeky: Quite a useful product i say, wonder still in market? i still go 4 90% water 10% coolant (not concentrated type) provided e cooling system sealed good (water won't evaporate in sealed n pressured cooling sys). 4 mi, coolant juz a mean 2 detect any suspected leakage esp when e engine is wet with rain water.

2007 bandit will not be in.

Hmmm.......tats a pity. Quite true lah, no much demand, no much supply, biz 101.:) If really wanna get 1, i guess got 2 tag along with otr shipments from bikeshop if put in request n a long wait.

That is a nice bike, want to get one, but saving up for something more important so I guess will be sticking with the bandit for the next few years.

how bout u take out the plugs with the cable still attached, then test for sparking? if not sparking, then might be ignition coil spoil. if sparking, may mean the carb's having trouble.

For tis, u need 2 remove e spark plugs causing e foul. C whether e spark plugs r wet n soothy or not. 2 rich a mixture (fuel vapor/air ratio) can cause plug fouling resulting in piston knocking sound. Bear in mind u had left e bike 1 wk without starting, mayb u wanna take ur impluse 4 a ride, sumtimes this will helps 2 clear of e wetness of e plugs n e engine will b running smooth again. if not, then off 2 ur bikeshop.

hey

upz man, i have found the idling thing, and well , it works, THANKS peepz

anywy, would like to ask somethin else

for bandit 400

1) there is a coolant reserve pump/box/reservoir or something below the seat

can i ask, how does it work?

and also

2) my bandit, when hot, the coolant water will drip drip, coming from the arear near the side stand (there is a sort of box thingy there), is tt the coolant pump? if yes, means spoil ah? any rememdy? or must replace?

ok CS, to what i know, the coolant reserve acts as mainly a overflow chamber and oso to hold spare coolant. when the bike is running, the coolant will flow in ur radiator, this will generate suction to ur coolant reserve,

hence, the spare coolant will be sucked into ur radiator if it is low on coolant..oso, if the coolant becomes too hot and expands or something, the excess coolant will run into the coolant reserve chamber and if too much, will overflow as mentioned the drip drip u experienced.

however, if ur bike is constanly dripping coolant, then i guess the water pump seal might be leaking already. replace oso is replace the seal. dun think will cost much.
