hi guys, sorry to crash in... but hope to know more about this bike

i saw a thread selling the bandit so went searching for some info on the net. but nothing beat the real life experience review from other riders.

so wonder if your can advice me on the performance and maintenance of this bike say, compared to super 4, xjr, or the newer gsr 400?

anyway i saw 1 review on the net that the tank area is big and higher so resulting in a higher CG?

if an unhelpful reply is required, here is mine.......

the only S4 i have riden is the Spec 1 in SSDC

Xjr, no experience

Newer GSR, obviously newer bikes tend to be better (i assume, if being cared properly for)

comparing Spec 1 to Bandit

Bandit fuel tank is slightly longer than S4, so u stretch a bit more.

and in my own biased opinion, outlook wise, bandit looks nicer (that's y i got myself a bandit, not S4)

and based on my own assumption (hear-say from bike mechs and frens)

inline 4 engine, 4 sprak plugs, 3 bottles of engine oil... quite standard

fuel consumption wise, depends on ur riding style

if u want statistical breakdown, older bike, due to wear and tear, fuel consumption will be slightly higher...........

BUT

i dunno about S4, my bandit 400 (FM plate) is running at a healthy 20-21km/L range............ (it lose out about 1-2km/L... as what some ppl tell me about S4)

but

i am pretty happy about my bike

in short, bandit rules, as long as i ride it

until i change a bike

my bandit is the best

PS: this reply is totally subjective, nothing near a fair comparison

My GSF400 Bandit also has a Fuel Consumption of about 21km/l for normal city riding, and FC of about 18km/l if riden with fast acceleration.

In my opinion, I prefer the Bandit to Super 4 in terms of outlook and handling.

I've heard of the higher centre of gravity too, but it doesn't affect me. I'm below 60kg, for your information. Probably due to the weight of the engine as well.

why would it be unhelpful? any comment and opinion is useful...

i also only rode super4 when i learnt 2a... but currently riding pulsar and super4 look almost the same to pulsar. so would like to get some fresh change.

somehow the frame look abit like ducati m400, at least that is what it look like to me.

apart from the fork, engine set up... how would u rate their identical appearance?

so u used 3 bottle of EO every servicing? what other things to take note or has to be done during servicing?

anyway 20km/l is quite a good range... but what is the average speed and rpm u travel in to get that?

and err... so many models of bandit, any easy way to differentiate them? i googled for some image, some got 1 front disc, some got dual... got confused.

1) thanks

2) good decision

3) ducati = 80/100 , bandit = 99/100

cos ducati looks a bit bulky, bandit is more styled with curves

4) 2.5 bottles, normal oil change, with oil filter, 3 bottles

5) if i rode like 4-5k rpm, it can actually go up to 22km/L

well, +/- depends on ur whacking and engine condition

6) generally, bandit P and bandit V for 400s,

differntiated by the fuel cap, P is off center to right, V is in the middle

for bigger bandits, ask Diddy, he knows better

 why ans till so formal...

1) err, welcome. see, i told u, ur opinion would be good. let me know something new again...

2) good decision but provided i am able to get my hand on one.

3) hmm really? i haven seen a bandit in real life but i shown pic of both bike to my friends and they say ducati more curvy leh.

4) so this bike is oil cooled?

5) 4-5k rpm... say at 5th and 6th gear, what speed do u get?

6) i only got 2a. and i think 400cc for sg road is enough liao. so both V and P is single disc brake? and err... wad year production are them?

thanks zac.... anyway any pros and cons between oil and liquid cool?

Hmm... from the net, it state that bandit has 59hp and a dry weight of 168kg while super 4 has 53hp and dry weight of 170kg. clearly bandit has a stronger power to weight ratio and i know the valve timing and etc counts too but...

how come super 4 top speed like much higher than bandit? i often see people boasting they hit 180+ or clear meter... but bandit only around 150?

Point is: we only hear what others say. Who speaks louder usually gets heard more. If you were to look around, how what's the ratio of Bandit riders you see as compared with S4 riders.

If you had read earlier threads in this forum (much earlier), you would have read about the GSF400P Bandits blowing off S4 VTECS in terms of acceleration and top speed. I know this will surely invite flames from other quarters, but the Bandit was built by Suzuki to compete head-on with S4, and of course, the specs put the Bandit at an advantage.

Theoretical top speeds for the Bandit puts it >180 kph (6000 rpm gives >100 kph and cut-off is 11500 rpm, the maths will tell).. The rest is up to the existing engine condition, the state of upkeep of the bike, and of course, the rider skill. The bottom line for comparison for raw, straight-line acceleration and top speed what you had said: horsepower-to-weight ratio. Please do not forget to include the weight of the rider, too. . . .

Cheers.

139 pages to read... is quite abit to catch up. but i will read it after my exam. :)

anyway i do know bandit population are much much smaller compare to s4, that why i decided to not go along with the crowd. it's consider a casual question as i won't be hitting top speed anyway. license too precious to lose.

the bad thing... it's much much harder to find a bandit to a s4 also.

but i do want something more powerful which i think this bike will give. my bike travel comfortably around 80. but take it up to 90-100... the engine like screaming liao. always cant help but to think the whole engine will explode into pieces .

hmm, the only bandit i see are pictures online so would like to see it in real life first before i can tell u i am keen or not. but most likely this would be my choice since it fit my budget.

but i also promised my parents to finish my exam first then think about bike, so now is considered "research period" for me. i think i will be holding on to my next bike for quite a few years so don't wanna get into an impulse purchase.
