need help from bandit brothers here.

where to get a competitively-priced bandit400 CDI? Mine died a few days back. Cheapest shop I can find is Mah Motorparts, $400. Any recommendation? Guan Hoe is too ex, $480, at Eunos. Didn't expect a small hardware to cost so much. Got second hand one better still. btw, mine bandit is 10 years old. bought recently for $1500, machine price. Quite well kept, though it's a accident bike, a skid case.

Also, any recommendation for spark plug coil? $70 is the cheapest I can find.

Thanks in advance.

If ride is one's sole intention, why pay more - choose COE bikes. And if there has to be a pair of equal partners in a love relationship, it's me and my bikes.

It would be similar to asking 'wat is the difference btw a Super4 Version-S and a Super4 V-tec ?'

The general answer to that is: one has VTEC, the other one doesn't.

I hope that answer your question n gives u a rough idea. :p

k anyone tell me which tyre is good for daily use and its price where to change. how much does the chain and spocket cost for bandit. thanks.

I had a pair of BT090 (paid about $220 for them last yr) from HKL, I am very satisfied with its performance. :thumb:

For chain n sprocket, it depends wat kind/type u want. I got my original Bandit sprockets(1 set) + DID X-ring(gold) chain for about $300(last yr) from Guan Hoe.

There are cheaper non-original ones out there. :goodluck:

bandit brothers, avoid guan hoe if can. things there are expensive. bought my bandit CDI from Mah Motorparts. Guess what, I called up guan hoe a few days ago, was quoted 480 at Enuos wksp and 700 at their HQ. See the price difference.

btw, just got my bandit running after changing the CDI. maybe want to change the ignition coils and plug head. then I'll have totally a new set of ignition system. mine is a 10 year old bike. any comments on what coil to get? what brand- original or after market. And which shop has the best lobang.

did you guys noticed Bandit is small compared to Super 4. I like the super 4 handle. I feel it's higher. anyone got any recommendation.

Finally get to check my valve clearance last night. Didnt managed to do it last week due to 2 rounded allen key & broke a plastic wrench (becos of 2 overtighten nuts)

Took me 1.5hrs to open up the stupid cover (after discover got to take out a few things for more clearance) 3hrs to check the valve clearance (spent lots of time on pushing the rear wheel to turn the cam/shaft and double checking on the clearances) 2hrs to pack back everything due to some wrong nut positioning (guess too tired so just take n put without checking) Went home at 2.30am from my office. Tired! :giddy: first timer mah.

It was fun but tiring (to me) cos my valve cover got stuck halfway through by the cam chain (manual say can just slide right out, my foot ah! the spark plug recess got block by the cam chain and got to clear alot of things to lift it high up to take out  )very tiring to turn the cam/shaft by rear wheel cos I didnt want to open the signal generator. quite fun to discover the mechanism internally. headache to decide on the clearance (in the end choose the middle range), keep on tightened n loosen to set the clearance. changed the spark plug gaskets n cover bolt gaskets, all were already harden and had to be knock out by hammer. Discovered that all my 8 exhaust valve were too tight, I couldnt get the feeder gauge in, they werealready kissing each other. Intake abit tight on some valves.

It was tiring but i think i will do it again. Makes me abit more appreciative on the mechanics job. But i would feel better to know nothing is been pinched internally (gaskets) But I would be more prepared this time. Radio, cold drinks etc :cheeky: kekekek

PS: But then hor, I think my clearances may be abit loose as I can hear more tapping sound now. but then suzuki bike are rough fellows. power wise not sure yet, need to observe for a few more days. :cheeky:

Next thing to do will be carb wash n tune. haven decided to do myself or send to Guan Hoe. :cheeky:

I just realised something.

checked the bandit forum. guess im safe afterall. most of the fellows after adjusting their valves had louder ticking sound. no sound means valve too tight and no good causing valve seat burn. mine was having no or very very soft ticking sound compared to before adjustment, so no good. exhaust valve all were too tight hence no sound at all.

Now I can hear 2 different tone, one is the loud ticking and the other could be the air intake or exhuast sound, a deep hollow sound. the deep hollow sound could be after I had recheck the air filter cos when i install the knn filter, somehow the bottom side is not covered up properly, so causing a small air leak.

next is to change engine oil too, as after i saw the internal of the engine, I finally understand why they say oil is the blood of the engine and how important it is to keep it supply with fresh oil.

I just realised something.

Silver very impressve work, next time can help me check and adjust my valve clearance.

Do you have the tool for making the clearance adjustment as describe in the manual?

If I can get the carb syn tool from Rocket today then I will be able to do the carb syn on sat. Maybe ya wana join me then.

Went to KS yesterday, the fella insist I buy the whole rear brake piston set because they come as a set, where I'm looking for the dust cover and and seal. Went to MAh motorparts, they say can help me search for it if I give them a sample.

On further riding of my bike, I found my steering cone is gone too, when I jack up my front wheel the steering feels slightly stiff.

Also my clutch pad needs replacement as the bike gear change becomes stiff when the bike is hot.

When u got the CDI from elsewhere, did u see it in its original sealed packing?

At Guan Hoe, they let u break the seal yurself.

I do not deny, or rather I have to agree with u that the parts at Guan Hoe are more costly than elsewhere.

But they are all in the 'Suzuki Genuine Parts' packing, and every time they make sure I see the parts in the original packings before they start to work on it.

That is how they manage to earn my trust. I belif honesty is the best policy.

I dun mind paying more (not ridiculous amount) for a trustworthy n honest shop/mechanic.

Would U ?

When we talk about workmanship, yes they do make mistakes sometimes(which bikes shop/mechanic doesn't?), but becoz of their past track records and personal experience with them, I will still go back to them.

When u go back to them and tell them that u r not satisfied with their work, they take a look at your bike n rectify the problem at no cost, if it is their fault.

I have had experience from other shop that some mechanics will just brush it away, saying: 'aiya, it's like tat one lah, dun worry, just ride only'. I bet most of us have such encounters before.

My conclusion, my bike n money will go to a trustworty n honest shop/mechanic.

kekeke.......tiring work you noe. I thought you did before on your 750?

anyway, i use a 8mm socket and long nose plier to adjust. Mine is the square head nut. discover can actually turn by finger but need something to hold the fellow while tightening the locknut. feeder gauge i had quite sometime, finally get to use it. can lend you the feeder gauge if you want.

my bike is seriously inneed of a wash n tune of carb. very out of tune and strong vibration. but can sense engine more responsive after clearance check. easily go up to 8k compared to previous it is reluctant to go above 6k. and at the same speed, my rpm seems to be lower compared to previously. there is still a slight hesitation from idle to 1.5k but much better now. suspected due to air leak from air filter previously, cos my plugs are still more white than tan. engine less hot now.

maybe can try go the Guan Hoe (is it?) at rangoon rd for your seals?

Got took some photos last night but haven upload yet. maybe tomorrow. :p

I didn't do the valve clearance myself for the 750 because Guan Hoe says $65 for valve clearance inclusive of all parts.

Which I think is cheaper than I do it myself if I need to replace the shims ($8 per shim, 16 shims altogether), and its more troublesome for the 750 which I need to remove the cam shaft to acess the shims.

Since you do it before, then you can just guide me to see if I do the wrong steps.

Mah motorparts also dun have dust cover and offer to sell a second hand rear brake caliper to me for $20, which he says there are no leaks. I check the caliper he offer me, the dust cover also have the sympton of coming off soon.

Now I'm going ask and see if some motorshop can match the seal and dust cover if not then have to pay $48 for the seals and piston.

yes, the CDI was in sealed original packing. btw, didn't know my colleague who was riding a bandit has lobang for a second hand working bandit 400 CDI. sh*t man, already spent $400.

should any bandit brothers here needed a second hand bandit 400 CDI, can PM me. I was told the CDI has no problem. He took out the CDI when he scraped his crashed bandit a year ago.

S750WP, the caliper seal can change one. I used to change my bandit 400 rear brake caliper seal a few years ago. Look around, I believe you can find. I think the seal should be some pretty standard item that you can find in the market. good luck.

bandit brother, what happens when you throttle up at neutral gear. Does the neutral indicator light and head lamp dims very slightly. Mine is like that. Anything wrong. Was told by a friend it is normal for such bikes as compared to a Goldwing.

Thanks in advance. Btw, where to get a second windshield for bandit. Got any lobang? I did a search here in Singaporebikes.com but nothing is on sale.

yeah, crazy isnt it? somemore do untill 2am alone in my office carpark :cheeky: i just got 'itchy' fingers

i tot it would take me a few hours didnt know took me so lone. somemore its not somethig which you can put aside n do later.

I went through a few bandit fourms and they advise that it can be easily done on your own with a manual on hand. the difficult part is not the checking, its the removal of everything to reach the internal that is tiring. so i just wack lor. they did advise a few things to look out for.
