I did my valve clearance a few weeks ago, last sat notice some oil stain on the left side of the engine. After confirming the leak was from the valve cover, I opend it up again, check and clean the mating surface and the gasket, did not found any nick or cuts. I reuse the gasket again, partly the gasket is very expensive, putting more RTV sealant this time.

Reinstall back everything, check no more leak, I did the carb syn. Carb was badly out of syn, took quite a while to do as the centre carb syn screw very hard to reach and adjust also its very sensitive.

Somehow after carb syn the tacho sticks, when reving the engine, if idling speed is set more than 1000rpm. Before carb syn, idling set 1400rpm as per manual, no sticking.

Any idea where to get silicon sealant remover, because I has a hard time removing the old RTV sealant which I applied during the initial valve clearance on the gasket.

I'm also painting the bike myself, using RJ London quick drying mark paint, choosing signal red. I experiment on the carb cover, the effect iturn out is quite good.

Gona paint the rest of the parts soon, anyone knows if I can remove the front fender without removing the wheel?

I painted my bandit, able to took out the front fender w/o removing the wheel.

I would say not bad for a $16 paint job, 3 can of paint + 1 can of laquer. It would have been better if I have scraped and remove the old paint on the fuel tank and get stickers rather than paint the words.

Check every 2 years together with radiator flush and coolant change, since the radiator needs to be remove in order to slide out the valve cover.

Mine valve clearance were still ok after 11 years, but I adjusted all to mid range.

What top overhaul did you do?
