Problem:

I have to leave SG for six month, overseas Industrial Attachment (IA).

Solution:

1) sell the bike

2) lay up the road tax but pay for parking charges

3) add a sub rider and he maintian

was thinking of laying the bike up but anyone knows what care to be taken for the bike:

1) battery need to be removed?

2) 4T engine oil removed or new?

3) petrol tank kept full or empty?

4) etc?

Thank you for the advise!

ask Guan Hoe

Anyway, I personally think that one should never lay up a bike, not healthy.

1. Remove the battery, charge it when you are back.

2. Engine oil just leave as it is, change it when you are back.

3. Full and add fuel stabiliser(not sure if it avail in sg) because fuel will turn bad overtime and clog up the jets in your carb.

4. Drain the float bowls.

5. Oil the metal parts to prevent corrosion.

6. Lock your bike and cover with canvas to prevent theft of your motorcycle parts.

paint scheme looks good:thumb: looks italian. Still, what can be done to make it go faster? Besides pipes, filters, & small fixups....Are there any devilish parts around? In Thailand for instance? I dunno...maybe racing camshafts or carburettors?

You can install a factory jet kit, 4-1 full system, high flow filter, Rev derestrictor, change the cams shaft and sprocket to gsxr400. Use gsxr 400 carbs or simply swap in a gsxr400 engine.

Bigger rear sprocket, shed some weight(rider) and remove unnecessay part on the bike e,g centre stand to make the bike lighter.

hmm drain the float bowls..... if drain liao the crab inside no fuel later gets mouldy, get algae or rusty how? enlighten me if i'm wrong.... And i notice the suggestion for mods mostly changing parts from GSXR400... But last time i got several friends riding GSXR400 and i must say their pickup was rather slow compared to bandit400... But their tops r higher....

Fuel will turn bad if left unused for a long time, in this case 6mths. Imagine the fuel in the float bowl all gum up with the bad fuel. So its better to drain the float bowl. The carb parts will not rust unless there is water in it.

Maybe your fren GSXR condition has deteriorated, I have tried a gsxr400rr a few years ago(5 year old bike) the pickup was better than bandit. Beside the bandit can pulled to a miserably 20km/h max at first gear only.

Think its the market rate for bandit at $1.2-1.3K, dont worry your bike in good condition definitely will fetch a higher price. :thumb:

Cheeteck you might wana check your static and racer sag because you added quite a heavy load on your bike. Hopefully adjusting the spring preload will make your ride less bouncy.

I already paid the seller for the gsxr750, should be shipping in abt 2 weeks time. Read from the bandit forum. they actually grind the cushion lever slightly to fit in the gsxr shock. I'm thinking to grind the shock instead, because from the picture the bottom of the shock is quite thick.

http://webpages.charter.net/wmjohnsen/auction/parts/31.jpg

After installing the gsxr shock I will need 3 strong man to help me to check the static sag and racer sag as well. 2 guys to stable my bike, me sit on the bike and third guy to measure the sag.

Maybe your fren GSXR condition has deteriorated, I have tried a gsxr400rr a few years ago(5 year old bike) the pickup was better than bandit. Beside the bandit can pulled to a miserably 20km/h max at first gear only.

Hmm 20km/h max on 1st gear.... Today i went to try liao easily can reach 60km/h on 1st gear without much drag leh.... ????????????? ur bandit got problem? I think there should not be much problem going beyond 60km/h.... anyway 20km/h is really worst..... RXZ can do better......

Yo brudder, this is the term they use in motorcycling suspension term, no other words for substituition. How about compression, spring preload and rebound, how to interpret to you?

You might wana try to get a Hagon shock(frm UK), last heard it was about $400 or was it $700? Maybe you can check with the black rubber specialist IL4 also the king of suspension tuning.
