Bonus all went to the insurance and road tax for my car already. See big bikes very 'gian'.

I just did engine oil and filter change, tightening chain, and syn the carb today. So no activity on sat.

Sell you the suspension too troublesome already, need to take out and install again, might as well you sell your bike and take over mine. Swap the CDI, coil, wind shield and three box and everything will be new

When you want to pass me the old coil, my mad scientist collegue is looking forward to doing his sci experiment.

Test CDI?? You mean you want to experiment with changing the capacitors and see if it revives the thing.

No problem just cut open the old CDI and see what rating are capacitors, go SLT to buy then I go my company to solder can already.

do you ppl, Bandit riders meet up on weekdays? drop me at mail if you guys happen to meet up on weekday evening. I will be very keen to join you ppl for coffee and discuss all things about Bandit. i ride a bandit too for about 6 months now. thanks.

If ride is one's sole intention, why pay more - choose COE bikes. And if there has to be a pair of equal partners in a love relationship, it's me and my bikes.

The bandit rider here seldom meet, so far I only met one tourer bandit, Chee Teck, a few time for getting our hands dirty on our beloved bike.

Meanwhile keep logging in to check the latest update here and you can read some old post on the bandit4 to know more about our bikes. Hopefully we bandit riders will have one outing one of this day.

Dream_machine,

I'm gonna b getting a bandit 400 soon..(a few days time hopefully).I've got some questions to ask abt.

1.Wat to look out for when checking the bike?

I think mostly the general things like fork, steering, suspension, tires, electrical and engine condition.

2.Any paticular problem abt the bike?

Here is what I had on my bandit, rectifier fried, radiator leaking, 1 coil not firing. Simple fix but can be quite annoying if you dont know how to diagnose and solve it yourself, mostly bike shop will chop you asking to to change this and that. The notoriously no.1 killer for the Bandit4 is the CDI, and a new one cost abt $400+ to replace.

3.Wats the average petrol consumtion?

I got about 21++km per litre of petrol, avg speed 90-100

4.How much do a regular svcing cost(engine oil,plugs,caburator?where?

It all depends on what type of engine oil you feed on to your bike. I am now using Total 4T which I feel is pretty good and economical, $4.70 since I dont travel so much(3000km for 7 months of ownership mainly for work). Spark plug you can use NGK or denso, NGK is almost 70% more ex than Denso. Carburettor you can go to any reputable shop for servicing. Check the bandit parts price list on the old post.

5.How many types of bandit are there?wats the diff?

In singapore there is Bandit400P, Bandit400VV, Bandit600, Bandit1200.

6.heard tat bandit overheat easily,is it true?

Mine used to overheat in the hot afternoon, after flush radiator and changing to a new radiator, thermostat, housing, rad cap and sensors now its so much better. And it all depends if your previous owner is taking care of the cooling system periodically.

Hope it helps..

I presume you got the bike from a private seller normally shop charges more. Price is decent for a well mainteained bike.

You will start to learn more when problem arises, or you can be more adventurous and start to take things apart to explore ard. And a service manual will comes in handy when troubleshooting, it can be found in the older post.

Welcome to the bandit club.

For the bandit4 rider who wants to upgrade the rear shock here are the other option which may fit.

I say may fit because I found the information from US bandit forum website and its not my responsibility if it doesn't fit, try it at your own risk.

Here is a cheap 2002 katana rear shock, not sure if it can fit B4. The original bandit 4 rear shock centre hole to centre hole is 305mm, a slightly longer shock is ok but not shorter.

Well..thinkin of spraying the bike, but not so soon lah..gotta sent my RXZ for repair first, sell it off, only then will b spraying bandit..got spray lobang is it??thinkin of D.I.Y.

For the fuel tank its better to send to shop to spray, the plastic is still ok. Because normal spray paint cant withstand petrol unless you use automotive paint and lacquer.

Btw I spray the bike myself and I take extra care not to let the petrol overflow on the fuel tank.
