4.How much do a regular svcing cost(engine oil,plugs,caburator?where?

It all depends on what type of engine oil you feed on to your bike. I am now using Total 4T which I feel is pretty good and economical, $4.70 since I dont travel so much(3000km for 7 months of ownership mainly for work). Spark plug you can use NGK or denso, NGK is almost 70% more ex than Denso. Carburettor you can go to any reputable shop for servicing. Check the bandit parts price list on the old post.

really good ar? Now u find it good i find it sucks hehehe. Shift gear smooth ar for u?

For the fuel tank its better to send to shop to spray, the plastic is still ok. Because normal spray paint cant withstand petrol unless you use automotive paint and lacquer.

Btw I spray the bike myself and I take extra care not to let the petrol overflow on the fuel tank.

I tink i would be spraying the bike myself.(thinkin tat i would sent my tank to shop).Intend to spray the red frame too...

Here's my RXZ in which i sprayed myself..

kata: From GP, take the KL direction after the toll. Then head straight. Look out for Ayer keroh exit at bout 200km...

After Ayer Keroh head straight all the way. It will probably be straight for like 15 minutes until u reach the town itself. After u pass by those red buildings, go straight somemore. Think u quite familiar with this part oredi.

After the red building areas, the road a bit bumpy as its not tar road, but those bricks ones. Straight somemore u will pass by to two ship museums, one on ur left another on ur right. Go straight then u will see Mahkota Parade(MP) on ur right side. Turn towards the public road closest to MP (which is tar road condition).

Then u see this junction turning to the right. Go around MP as Century mahkota is just behind MP.

If u nit anything, just stop and ask the locals, they are always friendly n helpful :p

Actually i would be back in malaca on 31st dec. if u dunmind we can leave tog :D

Initially I thought the Total 4T sucks, bike heat up faster and gear shifting was hard. I did the oil change after I syn the carb in a rush.

Then I syn the carb again, clean, tighten, replace the missing chain carriage screw and lube the chain. Gear changing and engine was smooth. Its still smooth after 100km

No prob dude, I get stress at work too. I have put 1 headlight bulb and 2 signal bulbs in the carrier. I brought along the air filter but then you say you not going for the trip so I din pass to you that dat.

I put back the original head lamp, there is a few interested buyer calling me up to view my bike, and Datsun King's fren is one of them, so I'm not going to fix back the Raptor head lamp too trouble.

When I got my bike, shifting down gear is very hard also. After I change engine oil & filter, clean, adjust the chain tension properly and lube the chain it improves. Also with the aid of chain oiler, shifting gear is so much better.

Scraping the exhaust over hump, your rear shock is soft already. Its a common problem for old bikes, you can set it harder, #4 is the standard preload setting and 7 is the hardest setting. If its already the #7 setting and its still soft then its time to change the shock because its non serviceable. I know for sure the gsxr750 (1992-1995) will fit the bandit because I have done this mod before or you get the original shock from KS motorcycle.

The bandit4 will heats up real fast and fan will starts to spin if caught in traffic jam, especially in the noon, but once on the move it will cool down. You can try water wetter, it cools down faster than conventional coolant I used, but it will heat up as per normal coolant.

To handle lock, turn the bike handle bar all the way to the left or right, press down the key and turn 2 clicks. Dun overturn all the way else your rear and lic plate lamp will lit and drain off your batt after sometime if its not switch off.

Hi,

I have a rarely used a year bitubo shock and brand new ohlins springs for the bandit 1200 which i crashed. I am not sure it will fit the B4 but the B6 I am sure it will fit as well.

I have been looking at a used Bandit 1200, so I can reused these parts but I am now also considering an enduro bike with complete upright posture for the comfort.

PM me if keen.

I think it will be helpful in your sale if you can take some readings of the shocks, and I;m sure some B4 riders here will be interested to know.

As far as I know the 1st gen B12 shock is shorter abt 300mm center hole to center hole, 2nd gen B12 is 315mm and the B4 is 305mm. A slightly longer shock will work, but it will raise the tail higher.

His one is aftermarket shock, something equivalent to Ohlins, adjustable and serviceable.

Cool!!! you are spraying the frame yourself. But there are alot of work to do cover the engine and parts you dont wana spray. Take a pic of your completed project.

And i will post a completed pic of my project when its done..

First check the airbox is sealing properly to the carburetor, mine was not when I first got it from the previous owner, resulting the bike unable to idle properly just like your case.

The correct idling speed of the bike is 1300rpm when the bike is fully warm up and yours seem to be high at 2000rpm.

I suggest you to strip, check all the carb parts are there (esp the o-rings) and the jet size are correct, clean the carb after that and get it syn, it will idle properly.

Before that you may wan to check the valve clearance first as your carb syn will not be correct if the clearance is not set properly. Most owner will neglect checking the valve clearance, and the risk is burnt or bent valve if there is little or no clearance when raming at high rpm.

The procedures are as follow

1. Check valve clearance

2. Change new spark plugs

3. Carb synchronise

To check the steering cone, put the bike on centre stand. Have someone to press down the rear of the bike to lift the front off the ground. Then you swing the handle bar left and right slowly to feel if there is any binding or not smooth while turning. Also spraying some WD40 ard the cone area will help to free up things abit. Other factor for the steering cone not to turn smoothly are tire pressure, the manual says pump the front to 29psi, but you can try to pump till 30psi (at your own risk) for quicker turning.
