what's bugging me .........

my "new" bike.

took it over from a childhood friend who lives a few blocks away.

i'm just the subrider of the bike due to parents disapproval.

1 -

at first he ask for 500. then up 700 because of the insurance. okay nevermind. then after buying my insurance, he asked me to top up 1k. claims that his father "scold him for letting go of his bike so cheap"

2-

before getting his bike, he told me that his installments are left with around 12 months. only when making payment at NTUC, then he said that he didnt realize that he still have 18 to 19 months of installments left. WHAT .. THE .. HECK !!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 -

the sum of money that i gave him, he used it partly to service his bike. when i asked him, he sayd that he serviced the engine. what does this mean? this IS a question, coz i dont really understand by "service the engine" part.

4 -

since he already did his servicing, i thought everything is okay. until i start to ride the bike on my own. the fuel meter was faulty. nevermind, can gauge from odometer maa.

5 -

checked the condition of my bike with another friend. turns out that ....

- FORK OIL LEAKING

- CHAIN LOOSE

- SPROCKET MUST CHANGE

6 -

the bike died down on me twice today. and luckily i was few traffic lights away from home. i thought it was because i ran out of petrol. so i switched to reserve. after which, the bike slowly died on me again. and then i thought, maybe 2t finishing. slowly ride to shell. open fuel cap, inside still got petrol. check 2t, 2t still got half.

so i'm wondering, what other factors can cause my bike to die out?

and my nsr is pretty high rev. and it doesnt help that i'm travelling 100km each day to work and back. :faint:

what luck! kena carrot by own friend. my fault too fr trusting him too much.

i rub on medicated oil on my chest bfo going to sleep and it kinda helps.

Go to Kallang Ave Industrial estate and look for Abboy, my race mechanic. His shop is directly opposite Lim Ah Boy's workshop.

He was an ex racer of 2 stroke bikes and is now a very good mechanic for 2 stroke bikes. He is a friendly guy and in my opinion, his charges are pretty fair. Sometimes I think he undercharges instead of over charge.

Tell him I recommended you to go there... you will be satisfied with the service. I am pretty sure of that.

What's buggin' me?

New job role is stressing.

Work is pilling.

I have 4 annual leave to clear by the end of this month or else is forfeited. Which is virtually impossible due to shortage of manpower.

Have submission for 2 subjects due this end month.

Damn need to cover 3 chapters in each book, lagging behind.

Bike needs a performance parts upgrade.

Phew, feel better=p

whats bugging me ...

i just let my parents know about me having a bike just now.

as expected, they were disappointed, and angered by my stubbornness. (but i'm surprised i wasn't asked to pack and leave).. sometimes i feel what i'm doing is wrong, but what is wrong with buying the bike just for transportation to work? i still abide by the curfew, i still listen to them. all that i did was to go against what my dad disagreed on me having. yes, i know losing a son to a fatal bike accident play a part in this trauma he's having, but life and death is in god's hands. people die everywhere, anywhere, any time.

i felt really uneasy riding behind my parents back today. i dunnow, the feeling just sank in. and it affected me at work. that was when i decided to tell my parents after i got back from work.

daddy says from now onwards, whatever i do is none of his business, he doesn't want to know if i'm covered by insurance, doesn't want to look at the bike, and doesn't care if i got my first full time pay or not.

so riding behind their back, is wrong ... (obviously)

telling them about me having a bike, is also wrong ... so what's right?

but i seriously didnt have the heart to continue riding secretly. they've taken care of me for all of the 20 years that i'm living, obviously indebted by all that they've done to raise me, without them i won't be where i am today, probably i'll be roaming around the streets like those typical mats & minahs with no life.

all that i'm feeling are regrets and more regrets. but no doubt that getting to work is pretty much a breeze.

i'm tired of having to please everyone but myself, and when i do get the chance to have that single hope of pleasure, i disappoint the others around me.

*sighs sighs*

Chill.

U did mention losing a sibling to a fatal RTA. They feel the pain as much as, or more than you. They fear losing you in the same manner.

Hence when you told them that you were riding, it's the shock factor setting in for them.

Give them time to recover. Then talk it out with them. You can only do so much.

So do your part by riding safely. Or you can quit entirely and please them.

There's no right or wrong. It's a matter of choosing.

You did the right thing.

It probably came as a shock to them.. also your dad's reaction is normal, albeit abit harsh. But then again.. all fathers who love their children would react this way.

Give them time they will come to accept that up to a point in time... you will have to make your own decisions and be answerable for your actions.

In the eyes of parents... their kids will never grow up... no matter how old they are.

On your part... ride safely to lessen their worries.

I remember the first time I told my parents that I am going to buy a bike for transport purposes, both of them were shock.

My mum ask me to save more money to buy a car instead.

At last I assure them that I will ride safely and then they relented.

Your father loves you too much therefor he objected to you riding. If he doesn't care about you, he would not have said such words. Deep down inside him, he is afraid and hurt because you do not heed his advise.

Ride safely as what the others had said. I know it is difficult to do because you are so young. I am once also young and thinks that I have the skills to do anything and tackle any corner that comes my way. I enjoy bending low at traffic junction corners too and squeeze between traffic.

But one thing I always do is slow down at traffic junction to check before I go through.

Traffic condition now is totally different from 20 or 30 years ago.

Show a good riding record to your parents.

It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

Saw some people on the road riding with cotton gloves, wonder why do they do that.

Cotton gloves will only cause the grip on the brake and throttle to be slippery.

For protection? What protection can a pair of cotton gloves gives?

I think the riding/test centre should not give out the message that as long as it is a pair of gloves, it is alright to use for riding.

I belief these type of riders do belief that since the riding/test centre "approved" such gloves for riding, therefor there must be a reason for it.

So they just continue riding bike with cotton gloves. :faint:
