join the VSC. Volunteer Special Constabulary. That wan actually got power. Got serving allowance. Must go thru part time training, not stay in. Must do IPPT and so on. Carry guns and they do have a team of 100+ VSC serving with TP.

 

Shiok meh? Volunteer? Carry gun? Power?

 

I carried a frakking rifle for 2.5 years and couldn't wait to get rid of that piece of crap. Can't imagine why anyone would wanna volunteer just to carry a gun and feel some sense of power.

jobs jobs jobs... can one advice how to pick a career?

 

1) Sales with a MNC in IT industry - Basic + Comm (Okay-okay interest)

2) Project Consultancy with a Semi government SME - Quite a high basic for poly grad (Strong interest)

3) Insurance with a promising career path - Purely Comm (not so much interested in scope of work, more interested in sustainability)

 

24 now, poly grading in 15 days,

Short term goal (1 year) : Clearing of all short term liabilities + debts

Mid term (3 years): Building up a nest savings of >10k + Completed Degree

Long term (5-6 years): Have a port folio that generates at least 20% of my yearly basic

 

I'm also giving tuition on the side which nets me rough additional 500/mth

 

any inputs?

I pick choice number 2. Gahment job can bring you far and net you a sustainable carreer and income in the long run. But cannot be complacent. You need to acquire better degrees and other skill set.

 

You can still do insurance for its training, will stand you in good stead in your future, should you decide to move out of the gahment sector into private sales or insurance later.

Babe arh.....if the older ones dont care, we wouldnt be reading or advising(nagging) you young ones what. (Sounds familiar? Because its only now, then I understand.)

 

The issues & perspectives of you young ones are different. But your future is brighter, bcause you have so much options nowadays. Dont restrict yourself. Push yourself to learn from different sectors even though you arent moving into those directions. Some of us older ones, are struggling to keep up.

I agree. I should have studied better for my 'O's instead of working so much part time, and expecting that my 'future' hubby will feed me for life.

 

Now I am stucked, middle age, 'desperate' & being a nothing. Always attempting to restart my life, with classes, new environment and whatever and still not getting anywhere. Even worse, that now, I have the experiences, but the young kids think they know better and I always be the good person and get shot down.

ooofffftttt.......cramming with anime watching for weekend nights.

 

So next two days, have to cram my studying a bit. Basket....if cannot be top of the class, at least must try to get within the top 10%. And I am still struggling! Certificate level niah!

 

And that basket important portion of the course turns out is a throw back to my 1990s programming language that is the predesessor of Access/SAP Purchasing stuff. I nearly die there!

 

And that reminds me of how a biatch was ever complaining about how the new secretary at the office with a computer diploma dont know how to use excel worksheet....I was trying to tell that biatch that comp dip, does not mean will know how to use excel shortcuts. She still insists that Comp Dip should know.

 

I diam diam on that issue liao, but in my heart, I was actually laughing my head off at the biatch....that a legal aka litigation secretary in a legal office, uses excel worksheets to print documents.
