hey guys! gotten my pulsar.. i would say it has very amazing pickup, only lose scrambler by abit (if you wack throttle :D) but the top end speed is not there. very relaxed bike and legendary fuel consumption.. :cheeky:

so anyway! want to ask which engine oil are u guys using? how much mileage before changing the oil? anyway is pulsar more suitable for for 92 compared to 95 and 98? heard it's smoother on 92!

I use the rear part of the lever to find neutral from 1st gear after stopping. The front part is not that precise while pushing up, too much force it will go to 2nd gear. Its easy to use both front and rear to make that precise tap to bring it to neutral.

yes! i second that! using the rear is easier to find neutral from 1st gear! the front part i always go back gear 2 one. haha

Something's wrong with you.. who chops parts of their bike anyway ?

i assume u were joking :p

A few of us do. I installed them right after I bought Shadow because the stock horn seriously is like a bird chirping.. Zero efficiency.

With the Hella horns, it's a whole other story. I completely understand what you mean by "cases" of lane bullying: the hella horns will put the car or truck back into their lane !

Arthur, I don;t know which model you say is not loud enough, I'll take a pic of mine later this evening, i still have the box so Dejaxx can see. The one I use is good enough.

You need a relay and a fuse, and to know where to wire it, but it's fairly simple. Cookie Monster helped me do mine, but I'm sure many here can tell you where to tap the wires. Doesn't require anything special other than that, and again, it's very simple to install so you should definitely ditch the stock horn.

Speaking of horns & Cookie, I think if I'm not mistaken he put a car's horn on his Pulsar. Now that's a bit of a stretch, but everyone must leave him alone in his lane

how much was hella?

Thats why I like the original pulsar set up of closed chain cover and standard chain. Standard chain is lighter than the o-ring chain in the new pulsars so better FC. The only advantage of the o-ring chain is the looks as it can be left open. But standard chain is also much cheaper. :)

So did oring chain and enclosed chainguard equals epic win? The standards lasted me almost three years, and i only use expended engine oil to lube. With oring, lets see if i can make it last four.

Congrats on your new bike!!! If you want to trade off the good pickup with top end speed change your rear sprocket to smaller size with atleast 5-6 teeth lesser. BTW P200 or P180? Used or brand new?

Unclube from lab, three dolls per bottle. I change 1.2 liters every 2.5k km. Hard to calculate with the odometer maxed.

Smoother? Cant tell the difference. I use regular when the malaysia pump stations allowed it. I noticed my fc actually increased with a higher grade fuel. Anyway, refrain from adding vpower in your tank. Higher fc, expensive, negligable performance increase.

that's because u're not "feeling" ur bike.

initially when i get my bike, i had that trouble, but after a while, u get used to how far the cluth go, so just kick up a bit, it'll go neutral. if the clutch is locked, rev the throttle, or half clutch go a bit n immed kick, dont force it or ur plate will spoilt faster.

I guess so. I believe standard chains need much more frequent lubrication than O-Ring chain and hence they are enclosed to prevent the rain etc taking away the lubrication.

Bro, the chain lasted me almost three years. And i clean the chains with wd40 and a toothbrush once in maybe a year.

To have your chains last long, i lube my chain with used engine oil once a week, saturating it until it drips. No worries about fling, the enclosed chainguards reduce mess. Check chain slack everytime you change engine oil. Good to do it yourself, that way i have a neverending supply of chainlube.

How to prevent metal flakes from going to your chain? I let the used oil sit overnight to let impurities sink, and i only use the top 7/8ths of the oil and discard the rest.

What can i say, i am a cheap *******.

hmmmm. i love the pickup.. but by using smaller sprocket, will pickup decrease drastically? btw mine is P180 UG2 old one, the rectangle tail. FBA plate 2nd hand. scouted at sgbikemart. bought for around 1.7k. (manufactured 2005)

Oh IC. Will try next time. My clutch sometime gets locked if I slow down from 5th gear by pressing clutch but not changing gear and then when very slow already I try to move from 5th to 4th /3rd then it doesnt change then I just have to rev hard and try to change the gear.

5-6 teeth does reduce the pickup drastically but cruising on highway at 100 km/hr will be silky smooth at 7k rpm. SO if you like the pick up and dont travel on much highway dont change the sprocket.

When I was on stock sprockets, I hated the over-revving engine. I would change gears from 1 to 5 within like 30km/hr speed and then cannot change any more as no 6th gear. Now with rear sprocket at 38 teeth its perfect for me at low speeds also and awesome on the highways too :thumb:

Bro, running the pulsar at 8K-9K RPM continuously is

considered as stressing the engine and normal mineral oils will shear out easily and wont provide the required protection and hence it deserves a good quality Fully Synthetic EO.

Can you tell us how long you have been using the Unclube for? What is your riding style?
