5-6 teeth does reduce the pickup drastically but cruising on highway at 100 km/hr will be silky smooth at 7k rpm. SO if you like the pick up and dont travel on much highway dont change the sprocket.

When I was on stock sprockets, I hated the over-revving engine. I would change gears from 1 to 5 within like 30km/hr speed and then cannot change any more as no 6th gear. Now with rear sprocket at 38 teeth its perfect for me at low speeds also and awesome on the highways too :thumb:

hmmmm.. the pickup now i like.. but the highway cruising very slow.. maybe next time i test ur bike den decide ok! kekekek

Congrats @Wonderless for getting a Pulsar. For the oil, I use now the mobile FS, I buy it from LAB. Can't remember the price now, but it's somewhere in the thread. I think 16-18 sgd.

As for the top speed - I'm not sure why you think it's not good enough : have you been riding another bike and you're comparing ? Or are you a P-Plater, in which case, surely a good 100-110 should make you happy the first few months, no ?

I think it's a boys thing, the top speed.. It always makes me smile when in Singapore people talk about top speed. Top speed to use where exactly? And when ? At 3 am on Changi Road ? We're limited everywhere by 90km/h max, and I think TP can close one eye if you go up to 100-110 - but anything above they'll enjoy fining you, and if we talk bike "top speed" we're talking at least 140 and above, then what's the point ?

I can understand how hayabusa owners or big bike riders go every week or day to MY to experience super fast speeds, but seriously, to buy a bike in Singapore and start discussing "top speed" it's beyond me.. To go from one end to the other of the island takes less than 45min riding at 90km/h, haha, who needs top speed ?!

Anyway, After 1 year commuting and riding daily in SG, both on normal roads and expressway, it's now very clear to me that even a 400cc bike is an overkill for daily commutes. The pulsar is absolutely perfect for that: light, fast, reactive and very resistant. And you get to really use the way it's built for !

Anyway, back to your questions, I use 95 for my P200. That's what I put in the tank from the start and stuck with it. I usually pump @ SPC because they have several reductions if you pay using specific cards, and they have a WE reduction as well. I think all stations have similar benefits. I usually pay about 20-24 dollars for 14-15L. (I rarely pump more because I don't wait until I hit the reserve to refill if I can avoid it - I read that it's not very good for the bike. From time to time, yes, to "purge" the tank, but otherwise it's preferrable to refill the tank a bit before you hit the reserve). These 14-15L last me between 550 and 600km - like I said, i could probably stretch another 50-100km more if I went all the way down to the last drop of petrol. This is to give you an idea on when to expect to top up. I ride often in normal roads so with all the traffic lights I consume more fuel, I pillion rarely, only sometimes in WEs.

I don't whack, and I certainly don't whack when picking up, unless I'm trying to avoid getting stuck between cars or trucks. On the expressway I usually ride at 95-110 km/h if all clear, if busy I ride at around 85km/h, if jammed obviously it's below. Hope this helps give you an idea of the consumption and how riding can affect FC - you'll figure it out after a few topups, each of us has a different riding style. :)

Oh another thing to give an idea on your bike's performance, following up on what Revhappy said: my P200 is 1y old, and when hitting 100km/h I'm usually in the neighborhood of 7k RPM. So for me for example, I never stress the engine too much because even at 120km/h I'm barely touching the 8k RPM mark. So Highway trips usually are done at 7k RPM or slightly below, nice and smooth !

Oren, you are using Sinnob right? which has a gearing ratio of 15/39 = 2.6 . The stock sprocket size for P200 is 14/38 = 2.71 so your current setup is undergeared and thats why you are able to enjoy the cruising at 7k RPM :)

Your's is P180 right? 100 speed at 8K RPM is right for P180. Also Sinnob for P180 is 15/40. What is your rear tyre size that also plays a part in the deciding the speed at a particular RPM.

Bro, running the pulsar at 8K-9K RPM continuously is

considered as stressing the engine and normal mineral oils will shear out easily and wont provide the required protection and hence it deserves a good quality Fully Synthetic EO.

Can you tell us how long you have been using the Unclube for? What is your riding style?

For 3 years thereabouts.

Reduced rear sprockets. I hardly have the need to exceed rpm 8k, since that is already 100 kph.

Riding style, I'm a dispatch rider. That should say a lot.

cos below reserve there's a chance of forcing air into the carburator. besides if there's water, it stays on the bottom, u wont want to use that either.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

Oh IC. Will try next time. My clutch sometime gets locked if I slow down from 5th gear by pressing clutch but not changing gear and then when very slow already I try to move from 5th to 4th /3rd then it doesnt change then I just have to rev hard and try to change the gear.

same as mine,

1) clutch plate spoilt

2) dirty EO

usually after EO change, clutch will be smoother. if it get stuck, try half clutch, then clutch in n shift gear. i did a mistake of forcing clutch when i got my bike which in the end spoilt.

steady la..look who's talking...

huh?

Bro, the chain lasted me almost three years. And i clean the chains with wd40 and a toothbrush once in maybe a year.

To have your chains last long, i lube my chain with used engine oil once a week, saturating it until it drips. No worries about fling, the enclosed chainguards reduce mess. Check chain slack everytime you change engine oil. Good to do it yourself, that way i have a neverending supply of chainlube.

How to prevent metal flakes from going to your chain? I let the used oil sit overnight to let impurities sink, and i only use the top 7/8ths of the oil and discard the rest.

What can i say, i am a cheap *******.

lol, glad u know there's impurities, but not all impurities sink, used oil also loses most of it's power to lube, see the colour change.

for me, i dont really wash chain, lazy to take out the guards. last time using EO as lube too, but not used oil. since from time to time i might need to top up EO, so always have a spare open bottle.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

I got a question guys about chain oil(lube) and rims : After rain or bike wash session, I always check my chain to see if i should oil it. I usually do in those 2 circumstances.

I don't put too much, I follow the advices found on the web on how to properly oil the chain.

Now, there's still something I haven't figured out how to fix: the oil splatter all over my rear wheel rim ! It's really annoying, it's like super black greasy marks/thin layer on my golden rims

I don;t think it's because I put too much oil, but could it be because I use that gel type of oil ? (Can't remember the brand.. it's a spay can with a small needle beak and when you spray it becomes like a gel, it's greenish in color).

If I used liquid chain lube, would it still splatter on the rear rim ?

Oh and what do you use to remove the oil/grease from the rims ? Because i tried everything, that Orange Degreaser, Wheel cleaners, and I use a thick brush. But the degreasers don't degrease anything, they barely liquefy the grease, and when I brush it just tends to put grease everywhere even more. I was thinking maybe I should wipe it off while the rim is still dry..anyone got some useful tip for this ? Can I use WD40 on painted rims ? (WD40 is my answer for anything I can't clean lol..)

Im usin tis wetwipes meant for metal. It helps to shine it too..so i will juz sit down n clean e chain like hw u wud wipe ur face..hehe..best ting is..e chemical on e wipes will prevent u ftom gettib ur hands dirty n greasy. Cost $1 onli n gt 40pcs..each time clean chain n wipe exhaust all dat mebbe use up 6-7pcs onli :D

hey guys! gotten my pulsar.. i would say it has very amazing pickup, only lose scrambler by abit (if you wack throttle :D) but the top end speed is not there. very relaxed bike and legendary fuel consumption.. :cheeky:

so anyway! want to ask which engine oil are u guys using? how much mileage before changing the oil? anyway is pulsar more suitable for for 92 compared to 95 and 98? heard it's smoother on 92!

Go to autobay highest lvl n look for chex9000. Cheap n good

Unclube from lab, three dolls per bottle. I change 1.2 liters every 2.5k km. Hard to calculate with the odometer maxed.

Smoother? Cant tell the difference. I use regular when the malaysia pump stations allowed it. I noticed my fc actually increased with a higher grade fuel. Anyway, refrain from adding vpower in your tank. Higher fc, expensive, negligable performance increase.

Ur odo maxed y nt buy koso meter
