Guys, I want to get new spark plugs!! Whats the best place to get them from? I think I will get the NGK iridium plugs. Should I mention any specific model number? I am clueless when i comes to after markets as I am still on stock.

NGK Iridium is CR9EIX/CR8EIX. The model specified for pulsar is CR9EIX whihc is a colder plug.CR8EIX is a hotter plug. You can use either shouldnt make much difference. Best place to buy Lim Ah Boy as always, haha

If you want denso iridium :

CR9EIX -> IU27

CR8EIX -> IU24

ah boy ..... $12 per pc after nego (unique motor selling $20 last time I enquired)

CR9EIX NGK Iridium

just take note of your AFR (air fuel ratio) after you intalled the iridium ... like said iridium is good but very sensitive with the AFR

check the spark plug after few rides and adjust if needs too ...

if it's too rich (too much fuel) .. will wet both the center electrode and ground electrode which affect the spark and combustion

if it's too lean (too much air) .. will covered with carbon powderish hence affect the spark and combustion

http://www.ngk.com/faqmain.asp?mfid=1

happy exploring! ... and safe ride!

edit: ... btw it's better a bit rich than lean but if either one AFR is incorrect (too much or too less) than get ready your wallet koyak!!

Dats ur answer irah..haha..dats y i posted here coz der are a few pulsar ppl usin osram..oren..if u wan i can bring it down to wdld taxi stand b4 u guys go jb

I may not go to JB today as they are leaving at 10.30 and I cant make it til 11.30. So, can I pick up earlier or later some other place?

But if you want to pass to O'ren [if OK with her] thats fine too.

AFR- How to change it? I am not even sure what this means. Should i safely get it installed in UM? Sorry keep asking basic questions.

it's ok .. you can do it your self to change and check the spark plug condition.

After installed the both plugs, start the engine as normal.

Good AFR will ignite at first ignition without using choke... but if your bike is quite old than choke is necessary lah... at this point don't worry so much.

During warm up check your rpm at idle .... standard for pulsar is around 1400 +-100

Once engine warm up just ride as normal playing around with your rpm lah during your ride .... don't be too constant.

End of the day .. checked your spark plug condition. As long as the center elctrode area is clean then it should be fine and continue your ride as usual.

During every ride.. feel your engine temperature .. if you find or feel it's too hot from normal .. it's a sign of AFR too lean...

End of the day .. removed the plugs and check the plugs condition again.

How to adjust the AFR ...

will continue after you have installed your spark plugs and feel your ride .. ....

most of us here will later advice you on how to adjust your AFR ..... kekekekek

happy riding and stay alert! .. cheers!

Can someone please post pics on where are the spark plugs on our bikes. i can see it on one side but not the other..

Hari, if this is all new to you, my advice is get the sparks from whichever shop you prefer (I got mine at Motoworld), then head to UM and ask them to change them for you (best to do it when you do your servicing if it's coming up soon).

Don't bother with lean/rich and all that stuff.. if the stock sparks are weird, the mechs will tell you.

If you're curious then by all means, do all this yourself. But if you just want to make sure your bike is taken care of and you don't want to know all the details and to worry over things that are a bit confusing, then just let the guys at UM do the job for you, they will take care of it perfectly :thumb:

bros, i went to some shops to survey for 2nd hand bajaj. cheapest is 2.2k for 180cc. but condition( outlook) quite bad. then i saw fbc plate selling at 3.5k. condition (outlook) ok. btw how to tell its ug1 ug2 ug 3 etc? very confusing. and internal wise wat should i check for? thinking of getting 1st hand but coe? *slap forehead*

roughly how much is a 2nd hand bike? so i wont get chop by them.. and this bike shop even recommend me tvs brand. say its better than bajaj. better fc and better top speed. 6k plus including coe.

i think i'm in love with a Bol'dor.

on the left side you can see the spark plug protruding out...for your right plug,it is exactly at the same spot on the right side...

but this time there is a rubber cover over the plug hole...once you lift up the rubber cover you will see a deep hole and your right plug is sitting inside it...

you will need a size 16 deep socket to remove your right plug...left one size 16 open wrench/spanner can remove already...

FYI the AF ratio we can only adjust the air part...the fuel part is controlled by the pilot jet...unless you can change out the pilot jet(which means open the carb, and in sg even UM has only 1 size for PJ) you can only play with the air side...

adjust more or less air to go into the mixture...

i think knowing how to change your own spark plug is an essential knowledge...

especially if you want to travel into m'sia...
