Hmmmmm .. for my understanding AF mixture screw adjustment for 4 stroke are meant to control the fuel ratio while the 2 stroke AF for air ratio.

But looking at our Pulsar using Mikuni BS29 ... the Air/Fuel screw (Volume control screw) is the brass screw is actually related to the Pilot screw which control the Air ratio.

For the Idle adjustment screw which can be turned by hand is for idle rpm and thus not related to pick up or speed ... it's basically just meant for setting the rpm which our pulsar idle rpm is 1400 +-100

Function

The pilot circuit provides the air fuel mixture at idling when not enough air is being drawn through the

carburettor to cause the main circuit to operate.

Construction

The pilot circuit consists of pilot jet, pilot air jet and volume control screw. The pilot jet meters the fuel

and the pilot air jet meters the air quantity. The volume control (VC) screw controls the amount of air fuel

mixture flowing through the pilot outlet.

Working

As the air enters the pilot air inlet the fuel is metered by pilot jet and air quantity is metered by pilot air

jet. The atomized / vaporized mixture is discharged through the pilot outlet. The pilot outlet is located on

the manifold side of the carburettor. Since the throttle valve is almost at fully closed position, air fuel

mixture is supplied mainly by pilot outlet only. Air fuel mixture volume is adjusted by volume control (VC)

screw and mixture becomes lean when volume control (VC) screw turned clockwise and rich when it is

turned Anticlockwise direction.

Dont you find 1.4k rpm idle a little bit too high?

I set mine at 1.2, and even then i feel that i want to bring it lower. 1.1 is possible, but as gunk collects in my fuel filter, it gets harder after a while.

No more mothballs in the tank for me. New naphthelene balls dont fully dissolve in petrol.

Ah. And if you want to know if your afr is running too rich or lean, check your plug heads. Brown like a piece of bbq chicken is the best. Too dark, increase air. Too light, decrease air. Too oily, time for a top overhaul.

The Yamaha 135 LC is a very very advanced bike bro. Its got Fuel Injection, Liquid Cooled engine, compression ratio is 10.9:1(can use RON 98) top speed of 165 kms/Hr :faint:

Because of it high compression ratio it is able to produce the same power like our pulsar 180 i.e. 16 BHP but its weight is so light, only 103 kgs compared to our pulsar's 140 kgs that's why its capable of 165 kms/hr. Thats why I always wonder how come the JB riders with their tiny bikes can overtake me :sian:

Only thing is its design is not macho like our pulsar. :(. I wish they had made it like RXZ shape. It would have been a superb bike.

165 on their meters, or 165 true? I highly doubt that it can go over 120 true.

If you want a really light bike that isnt a kup, try the xcd135.

Like said ... it's stated in the manual book UG3 for mikuni BS 29 carb!! .... lol

manual book is written by the manufacturer as a basic guideline to have your bike in good condition ... however it's up to personal rider preference by feel and explore to have it's own ideal set up ....

what written on the manual book is just a play safe measure !! ....

cheers!

Reason why we need to understand our carb AFR NOT to have any FOULING (too rich or too lean) in the first place to avoid unnecessary overhauling!! ... that's where manual book comes in handy!

A guide book and reference noted by the manufacturer for owners to go for check up during the periodic maintenance and lubrication!!!!

And to All ... please understand the meaning overhaul! ...

Overhaul does not mean bad .. it just basically a periodic maintenance to check, service or repair what ever needed to have the engine last longer!!!

When times to open the engine, it's better to have it open to check if anything need to change or repair before any more harm coming and make it worse!!

In Indonesia .. I was informed average every 40000km, they will send their pulsar bike for 'overhaul' to have their bike work wonders!

And in our manual book .. example stated every 30000km we need to open the engine to (CLEAN) de carbonising and valve lapping

Cheers!

Carb tuning. I have been DIY my self. Try and test. From my experience. Best result it between 1~2 full turn out.

1st you need to turn in all the way(clockise or tighten it). Then turn out 1 full turn and test( 20km/more). No need to waste time and petrol. Test it when you going some where.

Then turn out 1/4 turn at a time test again. See which setting give you best result. Remember to write down how many turn eg ( 1 turn of the screw. 1 1/4, 1 1/2....... max 2 full turn) and the result/performance.

Compare the result. Which give you smooth engine sound, best FC, constant RPM(when idle/riding ), smooth pick up and slow down also gear shifting(smooth or not). Best is to make a chart or simple check sheet eg. rate 1~10 point like question air. To be easy to understand for beginner/amateur. For expert, just need few try and testing to get to near optimal setting they dont need to write down.

From the data you will figure out which position is best. From there may turn 1/8 turn in/out to play with fine tuning.

Testing need long time . Depending on skill and knowledge.

Where have you been all this while??? ....

We have been searching for alternative quality brake shoes for ages? hehehehe

But what's the big problem with front brake pad? .... heheheheh

We did found ours!!! ... so far I'm the only one using sbs front pad on pulsar hehee for what I know lah .. kekekeke ... my verdict it's better than stock and chaeaper than EBC pad!! .. heheheheh

Later Ah Pet will join me soon and wait for his verdict once he has installed his sbs front pad! ...

Oren got a pair too and alvin saka liao bought 2 pairs ...

Now at Dickson Rd left 4 pcs only cos I did take 1 earlear in the late afternoon!!!! .... kekekekeke

Cheers!!

Me recommended by a member to visit SBT in UM when I first time chat with one of the member here. Not sure his name because never exchange name just friendly chat.

What is the front disc brake price. UM I think $20.

Try to find cheaper front disc brake pad alternative maybe $6. It just a metal plate with brake pad. Smaller than rear brake shoe I think $10 or more is over pricing.

>>Anyone have the old front disc brake pad can give it to me? So I can show sample when asking for similar part.

Talk about JB overhaul Pulsar. I think my foreman is the only one who overhaul Pulsar engine in JB.

When the first time overhaul in JB( change clutch pad, change bearing, clean piston, valve). He also never touch the Pulsar before also make mistake(timing wrong have to open again). I help him out in the whole process of overhaul ( because I like to learn) . It take a half day about 5 hour. Now he is more familiar. Can do it faster.

Very daring to let some one touch the engine who never repair pulsar engine. But in the end I save big cost $$$ and less time. If I sent to UM they need 2~3day for overhaul.

Sometime I really piss with the UM spare part price. Labor cost consider Singapore still reasonable.

If you want to have a VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE mech who really understand our Pulsar upside down in JB is AH Heng .. a former senior mech at UM. He opened his own workshop in there. But still unless you have the correct parts on hands, he also can't do much. If you need his address, just fine and contact Nemesis in this the forum and he surely will assist you on that.

If I want to have alternative brake pads that are cheap and performance same like our stock, than I won't be bothered lah to change.

When we talked about alternative or aftermarket parts, we want it to be better than stock and price does not matter as long as it does wonder on our bike.

We are not just talking about a small metal part but basically the quality to have a good bite to reduce the distance stoppage on sudden brake on on wet surface.

So far EBC pad are the best stated but price tag is too expensive. Alternative after asking around on 'branded' workshop, sbs (Scandinavian Brake System) gave a good compaarison to EBC brake.

The Pad quality and material plays a part to have a good responsive and stoppage distance... for most experienced rider, the biting FEEL and Responsive of the brake is what they need for their ride.

As for me too, I want that Feel of comfort on my ride .. reason I too like to find alternative parts for my ride.

So far for front pad, sbs pad have that comfortable Feel compare to stock pad no doubt the material (ceramic) is the same i think.

Check my profile on sbs material comparison for sbs brake pad.

Oh if you are looking for $6 pad than sbs is not suitable for you cost Stock pad at UM is $23 .. EBC pad is $60+ at Unique Motor .. sbs at Motoworld is $45 .. while sbs we got at Dickson Road is just $18.

Like said ... price is not a matter to me as long as not too EXPENSIVE! .. cos

Our LIFE on the road are not CHEAP!!

Cheers

Hyosung to Launch a 250cc V-Twin Motorcycle in India by 2012

http://bikeadvice.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Hyosung-GT250.jpg

Ninja was the first quarter litre bike in India, legally. It created a segment of its own. But the high price turned many people off. Then Honda decided to capitalize on this opportunity by launching CBR250R for less than 2 Lakhs. However as many would agree, it cannot compete with Ninja because it has a V-Twin 2 Cylinder Parallel Twin engine while CBR250R only has a single cylinder.

Now how about a Twin engine at less than 2 Lakhs? Excited? However you need to let go of the brand affinity and settle for the not so stellar Hyosung. From the following words it seems that the price of the Hyosung’s quarter litre will be almost close to CBR250R.

The managing director of Garware Motors, Diya Garware Ibanez said: “We are discussing with SNT Motors (owners of the Hyosung) to see how the volumes work out for our two models. We will follow the launch with the naked version of the GT 650R later in the year, followed by the 250cc models next year. With regard to pricing of the 250cc, we have to be right up there with the best selling models like the (Honda) CBR 250. Other models of Hyosung could also follow, as there is a big portfolio of models to choose from.”

My Dream Bike ... KTM 200 Duke spotted testing at Bajaj India

http://bikeadvice.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Bajaj-KTM-Duke-200.jpg

http://bikeadvice.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Bajaj-KTM-Duke-200-rear-part1.jpg

This news is definitely the one for all those who have been waiting for some interesting and exciting news. Guess what! KTM 200 Duke is at any cost going to be launched in India and in fact the company has been caught testing its new KTM 200 Duke somewhere near Pune. Well I guess it is the most awaited news for all of the rider community and bike lovers. Wait for some more time and Bajaj will launch this baby beast.

Bajaj was spotted testing the new KTM 200 Duke near Pune by one of the readers of Overdrive magazine.

It was being tested with two Pulsar 135 LS and Yamaha FZ-S. Thus one can speculate that Bajaj will price this baby around the price tag of Yamaha FZ-S.

This KTM 200 Duke is powered by 4 valve liquid cooled single that would produce more than 20 PS of power. The bike also sports Upside down forks, advanced mono-suspension, good ground clearance, trellis frame and radical styling are the features which would make this mean machine take on its competitors and it may even beat many of them. The bike has got a weird looking back step seat and this can be a major drawback of the bike.

Hmmm not sure when or will it be launched in Singapore!! ..... sigh kakakakakakkakaka
