If you want to have a VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE mech who really understand our Pulsar upside down in JB is AH Heng .. a former senior mech at UM. He opened his own workshop in there. But still unless you have the correct parts on hands, he also can't do much. If you need his address, just fine and contact Nemesis in this the forum and he surely will assist you on that.

If I want to have alternative brake pads that are cheap and performance same like our stock, than I won't be bothered lah to change.

When we talked about alternative or aftermarket parts, we want it to be better than stock and price does not matter as long as it does wonder on our bike.

We are not just talking about a small metal part but basically the quality to have a good bite to reduce the distance stoppage on sudden brake on on wet surface.

So far EBC pad are the best stated but price tag is too expensive. Alternative after asking around on 'branded' workshop, sbs (Scandinavian Brake System) gave a good compaarison to EBC brake.

The Pad quality and material plays a part to have a good responsive and stoppage distance... for most experienced rider, the biting FEEL and Responsive of the brake is what they need for their ride.

As for me too, I want that Feel of comfort on my ride .. reason I too like to find alternative parts for my ride.

So far for front pad, sbs pad have that comfortable Feel compare to stock pad no doubt the material (ceramic) is the same i think.

Check my profile on sbs material comparison for sbs brake pad.

Oh if you are looking for $6 pad than sbs is not suitable for you cost Stock pad at UM is $23 .. EBC pad is $60+ at Unique Motor .. sbs at Motoworld is $45 .. while sbs we got at Dickson Road is just $18.

Like said ... price is not a matter to me as long as not too EXPENSIVE! .. cos

Our LIFE on the road are not CHEAP!!

Cheers

Cheap part doesn't mean poor quality. In India part are much much cheaper. The dealer profit margin is few time the original price. So what I want is reasonable price. Now think of using Shinko tyre. Price reasonable but quality not sure.

Price par with Duro but from the look and personal opinion I think Shinko is better than Duro. So far try Duro, Michelin,Dunlop tires.

Duro >> budget, quality still ok

Michelin/Dunlop>> Price about 20% higher but quality not bad.

Qns : Usually before the petrol pump, do you switch back to on if your on reserve or switch back to on after the pump? After my pump, the red light indicator had been on till now and the fuel indicator bar remain empty....weird. I switch back to on after the pump. Any difference ?

chances are 2 things

2) fuel sensor float in the tank

uncle mj, wanna apologise for not replying to your message. was outfield ah. yup yup. still defending the country. but i have no maid to carry my fieldpack though! huahua.

anyway, was at um yesterday to fix my bracket for the signal lights and number plate cos the whole thing fell off! didn't realize anything throughout the journey from jurong to bedok cos i was blasting my ipod. when i went back to my bike, found the whole thing stuck in between the chain and rear tyres. lucky no major damage. and um didn't charge me anything for the fix. heh.

but when i was there, had the intention to change tyres to battlax. but it cost $125 for rear and $95 for front. reasonable? or can i find quality tyres elsewhere? been using stock for almost a year now. unsure wanna compromise safety to cost.

btw, is it too late to submit requests for the feb mo? or do i have to wait for the next one? :/

Brandon, is it still on promo now? how bout the comparison to stock?

I dun think so i bought quiet long ago. Stock is the worst tyre of all rubber LOL. Pls change to any brand but not stock tyre pls pls pls. Super dangerous can skid on dry weather on multi story carpark surface, just imagine if rain / wet / oil / other slippery sauce LOL

Anything is better than stock. Stock is hard compound meant for long lasting and better FC and less grip. In India people change bikes but never change tyres haha. It will last atleast 40k kms.

I am using Dunlop TT900 made in thailand and is pretty good and grippy. But then I never lean even a bit while taking a turn so can't say what will happen if I lean. It cost me $50 for front and $75 for rear with installation. In JB it will be even cheaper.

Very good alternative too.Where did u change those TT900?

I had changed at a bike shop in the tampines industrial area, behind the Tampines Safra. The thread pattern on the TT900 looks very nice just like the Bridgestone battlax.

Not planning to go there, but I could make a small detour, I'll text you beginning of the afternoon to let you know how. If cannot make it, then maybe you can join at AMK get togther next Wed evening ?

You've been riding with something stuck in your rear wheel ? wow... Thank god nothing happened !

For the tires prices, battlax is going up everywhere in SG. I bought mine 1y ago with the bike, sliiightly cheaper. I love these tires, zero problem in one yar and the grip is great even when it rains.

Now a lot of other brands are competitive, Dunlop and Michelin a pretty popular, and you read the latest on that cheap Shinko tyre Brandon is using. To be honest, I don;t think any tyre that is used by other riders is going to compromise your safety. If a tyre isn't good enough people will talk about and the word will spread, like for the Pulsar stock tyres. So I can think you can pick whichever without worrying about that. After that, the choice highly depends on your budget and your riding style and what you think you really need. (For example, me I prefer tyres with a good grip especially on wet roads, and I don;t mind if it slows me down or isn't as easy to "corner")

I went yesterday to pump, wanted to go to wash the bike but the afternoon heat got to me, I feel super lazy :cheeky: Will wash the bike tmr morning.

BTW, thanks for your directions to find the meeting point at Causeway point, I found the exact spot but was a bit early so couldn't see the guys yet, but what you said about the loop helped me eventually catch up with them.

Gaban of course tells you the meeting is near OCBC but from the road, you can't see no OCBC. So you have to actually know that there is one inside further, hidden from the street, to understand where the meeting point is :slapforehead:
