I agree with you. After getting my 2b, i need about 1 week to know the behavior of the f**king taxi drivers.

They are the road king. No choice, we are 2 wheelers. We should lookout for them..

I got friend 1 week accidentally already knock by taxi driver..

Not all but most of taxi driver are hazards. I had one taxi driver uncle complaining to me those younger/ new taxi drivers cutting into their lanes, making them almost banging into their back, just to snatch the passenger.

So if anyone of us happens to take taxi and this chap just cut into the other taxi, just walk and board the taxi behind it that was within lane just to disapprove his reckless behaviour. How many would do that?

I hope your friend is fine.

That day I saw a cabby lane weaving on PIE just after BKE, when I overtook him, I saw him rummaging through the car's door pocket. Obviously he couldn't control the wheel well with his body bent to the side.

honestlyyy, I've been stalking this thread for 1 year plus! i didn't join the forum while taking my 2B. i didn't join while looking for my pulsar. ultimately i joined this forum only when i realized that there's no better place for advices about bajaj bikes but here!

thanks to alvin for putting flyers on my bike in JP. and the mechs at UM for constantly reminding me to seek help here. haha. i think i was very shy cos i thought every question i'm gonna post here may sound super noob. (still is! heh.)

so fizhlmocca, don't be a noob like me and just fire those questions away! i've never seen a friendlier team than here. (virtually and physically, cos i haven't met them in person before. I'm sorry but i can't recognize any of your faces! except for your bikes rather. :p)

Enjoy your new ride!

p.s. I'm still stalking. :)

stalking, hehe, i was stalking here when i just passed 2b n wanted a bike, then after getting, i quit, then met nemesis n join, then inactive, join again n inactive, u get the pic. we all come n go sometimes.

do join us for BTMO, BTWO or whatever O, we're friendly bunch, once u're in sure get poison on pulsar  we dont bite n we joke very often. :)

am i seeing things or the video colouring like got problem...

to share i met a nice driver today

was heading home from work

was lane splitting and was stuck with the sun shinning into my eyes cause a taxi stopped too closed to the white dotted line

a black honda airwave on the other side closed his side mirror and inched forwarded a bit towards the side of his lane creating a big enough space for me to squeeze through

yea, encountered such drivers a few times. :thumb:

Wow! that was scary bro. I can't relate to it. Never happened to me. I would have jammed the brakes. I cant look for the horn in such a situation as I have never ever horned in Singapore

That driver is crazy, how can he move from lane 1 to lane 3 in one shot? :faint:

bro, horn is free, just use. if u dont use wait spoilt n u want to use it's too late. i'm using horn almost every ride, mostly tapping. i dont give chance, anything small also tap horn. it's to get noticed if u spot something wrong. better safe than sorry.

Hi guys, I am going to become a rider soon. Registering for lessons soon.

I am just checking up on the bike I should get once I have gotten my license.

I am planning to ride to school everyday.

Hence I need a bike which can give me good mileage and decent commuter speed.

After looking through the forum, I think that Pulsar 135 LS will be a good choice.

Please give me advice on this.

Because I could not find a single second hand Pulsar 135 LS online, I need to enquire about the cost of a new Pulsar 135 LS and where can I get it.

If anyone knows where I can get second hand Pulsar 135 LS, that will be even better.

I am looking for a bike with:

-Good Mileage

-Decent Commuter Speed

-Decent looking ( PLEASE NO KUPS! THEY ARE WAY TOO UGLY! )

-Cheap to maintain

I planning to ride the bike for commuting purpose for long-term. I am not not sure if Pulsar is lasting.

Hope you pros and experts can give me some good advices. Thanks ^^

this is what i heard, not too sure cos we dont get many 135 in SG

fc better than p180/200, can easily achieve at least 60km/h

a lot of vibration during high speed

harder to control in high speed due to its light body

facts:

smaller tank

parts r not really cheap, mainly UM is the only source. however dont be dishearted, there r other ways, just take a look how mjbs mod his bike.

Morning happy lurkers and happy participants ! :cheer:

@alvinyansg : DIYAdventurer because you're always keen to try new things, and to test new ways of fixing things onto your bike :cheeky:

Definitely should do a DIY HAZARD LIGHT session, there's a lot of new riders since last time we did one. Hopefully we can organize it on a WE day, early morning so we can all carry on with our errands ?

Readers of this thread who are not posting much, if you own a Pulsar without Hazard Lights, please join the DIY session so we can help you install them. You will use them very frequently trust me !!

It's very important for when you need to stop in a weird place, or by the road, or when you ride and your bike or another vehicle in front has an issue. It's good not only for your safety, but improves how you communicate your stopping to others.

@speedaddict: lol at the "later emo I leak again: made me laugh out loud hahaha..

Hey I'm glad you avoided that cab yesterday, especially with a pillion. I understand so well how it feels, makes you want to get off the bike and shake the person. I don;t think there is much you could have done to avoid it, but you know how you guys called me the exorcist girl because I check my blind-spot so much ? Well, when I do that, I always check in front of me first: so I look in front to see where everyone is, than quick check behind, than front again. But from what you said, the second txi just decided last minute to come to your lane, so nothing you can do really, even if you check in front before turning your head...

I agree with you, everyone needs to be aware of cab drivers.

- they will do anything to pick up a passenger or to avoid having to do a detour

- they sometimes have been driving for very long hours

- they are complacent and drive with less attention to traffic details because they do this 15h a day

- they are sometimes quite old uncles who don;t always have the best reflexes in the world

- the more than any other driver type, think that all bikes are bully-able

@MuHaHaZzz, welcome to this thread and to SBF forum !

As Alvin said, none of us rides a P135, so it will be hard to advise with certainty. However, Pulsars of all models have lots in common. So I suspect the P135 shouldn't be that far from other pulsars in the way it's maintained and how it works. Pricing, go to Universal Motors (http://www.umpl.com.sg). What is your budget ? I think from what you described is your need for a bike, a Pulsar seems to be the perfect choice. And yes, it is a very long lasting bike, Arthur here rides his since 5 years ago, and he's happy with it still.

It's good that you're investigating this before you take your license. This will give you time to make a sound decision. Join us next Wed evening if you can in AMK for a tea and a chat, you can then see the bike from up close and personal and ask away all questions you have :)

@Lanzer - thanks a lot for sharing. I see this everyday on my way to work or back. There isn't one day when someone is not trying to take someone's lane. But this one is really scary. Kudos to your quick reaction and your confidence, very well done. I can see you're not riding fast, because when the guy changes to the middle lane, very suddenly he accelerates to squeeze into your lane. TO me it's obvious he didn't check his blind-spot, not the first lane change and not the second.

This is a very good example for all riders in SG on what to be very very cautious about. NEVER assume someone has seen you and someone will not do something stupid. Always be ready to slow down or horn or know where to escape.

@Fredd and everyone else: I actually have the whole two seasons of the Documentary series: "Long Way Round" and "Long Way Down".

I highly recommend it to any rider, especially those interested in touring, but even the others, you will enjoy it. There's also a book that's pretty cool to read.

The documentary is well made, and the people in it make it very easy to get attached to them and they really convey the experience in a way that makes you want to get on your bike and ride somewhere far far away ! :D And Ewan McGregor is a really funny guy, he made me laugh several times, didn't know this side about him from his movies - really a great watch.

I'm happy to share the two seasons with anyone who wants them, just drop me a PM and show up at the next BTMO and it's yours :p

Arthur and MJ, bros; I have just opened the front sprocket cover and have removed the gear lever as well inorder to clean it. Actually its not as dirty as I thought. But still its quite a bit of sludge. I brought the cover home and am cleaning it right now with scoops and scoops of washing powder. So far its still sludgy. Haha. I should be able to clean the cover after sometime.

But I am not sure how do I clean front sprocket area. Can I clean it with soap water and toothbrush? Will it be ok to splash water on that area or do I have to be very careful? Dont want water to enter some critical part and damage. I dont want to use petrol for cleaning.

Whatever you do .. do it at the washing bay ... kekekekkee

1: if you can't remove the chain like manual stated .... see my profile.

just spray wd40 around the area of the sprocs and chain.

2: brush with light brush bristles and clean the area

3: if water used .. then used water hose best if not spalsh lah and wipe clean and let it settle

4: repeat if needed which area not clean enough.

5: becareful using soap detergent cos it have chemical that can spoilt the O ring/ X ring and Z ring or wedding ring!! kekekeeke

6: best WD40 for cleaning ... don't hear bull **** story about WD40 can damaged your O ring or even wedding ring ...REMEMBER we are not lubricating but mainly clean it.

7: wipe off the surface the chain and gears

8: Once the sprocs and chain clean and dry ... lube with chain oil or engine oil bt rotating the wheel manually.

9: wipe off the excess and relax a while to have the EO settle in the O ring chamber.

10: once you have your cup of coffee done .. spray your favourite lube or wax or gel or wat ever on the CHAIN ONLY not for 'other' one .... kekekekeek

11: Done ... leave the bike overnite best or few hours settling down before you ride off.

Maybe once I have my GE vid cam or Go Pro cam I video how I wash and clean my Splitfire cprockets and chain ... kekekekekekekekke

sorry lah my ways is very slow pace one cos I like to pamper my bike that way .. I like to spend time with my bike during wash day ... kakakakakakaka

if you want the fastest way then don't bother with this .... kakaakakakakakaka

but nevertheless you have the idea lah as long as during teh cycle .. lube more than wash .. wash only when its too dirty .... your chain will be good and last.

like Oren stated .. if happens I want to sell my bike .. the next owner must be like me .. kekekekekekekekekekekek

Thanks MJ, bro. For now I just used the dry toothbrush and removed the gunk from that area. As I dont have WD40 at home and no access to washing bay. :(

I was successfully able to close the cover and fit the gear lever too, perfectly, and took a round and everything is fine :)

Actually, earlier the gear lever was tilted a bit forward-downwards. I have fixed it to more horizontal position now and feels more comfortable.

The whole chain box is dirty from inside and I think best is if I just take it to JB bikewash and get the whole area cleaned.
