QUESTION OF THE DAY.

 

I'm really confused about the reserve fuel gauge lever.

There's three labels i can turn to!

1) ON (6 o clock)

2) OFF (9 o clock)

3) RESERVE. (12 o clock)

 

which one actually means im not using my reserve fuel?

Does the fuel bar on the speedo includes our reserve tank petrol?

Usually when red light on (2 bars left) how many litres are still inside?

a few questions first before jumping to conclusion that your bike is not fully utilized...

box set up?

daily loading on bike?

traveling speed?

normal or fast pick up?

servicing interval?

tire pressure?

braking habits?

 

for the 50km/l or more mileage, can be done...

travel constant at 50km/h-60km/h...slow pick up and no sudden braking...

When ON not on reserve.

Excludes reserve petrol

3ltrs if im not wrong..but go topup la when RED alrdy..u wudnt wana push ur bike to petrol stn..so paiseh

sum ppl love their bike..dey service every mth or 2mths..but usuali its 3000km(i tink pulsar 5k uh? i not sure) hehehe

My P180 is FBB plate, so i guess its 4 years already? and i bought it 2nd hand. mileage when i bought it is 23k now its 36k.

Really sucks that my pulsar aint fully ultilized

rarely is how rare?

servicing your bike and keeping it in good condition for it to serve you well is very very important...

check your EO level regularly...

on the manual it says every 5000km change EO...

but most do it around 3-3.5k...

next check your tire pressure,shock absorber if they are adjusted properly,your spark plugs,change your throttle habits and braking habits...

these stuff should help you get 40+km/l...

i ride with 3 boxes with them 75% full and pillion 80-90% of the time and i can hit 40+km/l...

50+km/l and above is pretty hard in singapore with the brake stop traffic and the speeds we normally travel in...

most of us gets 40+km/l...

for the fuel tap,

the pulsar fuel tap is designed to have 1 short and 1 long tube...

when its at 'ON' position, you will be using the long tube

when its at 'RESERVE' position you will be using the short tube

when the light turns on it means your main tank is low on fuel...

you can ride till you feel your bike like choking then turn the tap to 'RESERVE'

how much you can travel till your fuel totally dries up is different for each individual bike

due to what is on your bike

like boxes and height of your front fork and suspension...

this will change the CG and angle of your bike hence the amount of fuel you can use etc...

My Vehicle is giving low mileage, what can I do ?

 

Possible Causes / Remedies

 

1.Check the idling rpm. It should be specific

2.Air filter might be clogged. Get it cleaned from authorised dealers workshop.

3.Check freely opening & closing of chock lever / knob. If sticky get it repaired.

4.Check both wheels for free rotation

5.Check all control cables for free operation.

6.Get the carburettor tuned for optimum performance.

7.Confirm that there is no leakage / theft of fuel happening.

8.Always fill the fuel at reputed fuel pump.

9.Maintain correct tyre pressure & check it periodically

10.Never park the bike in direct sunlight to avoid evaporation of fuel.

11.Drive the bike in economy zone displayed on speedometer.

12.Avoid sudden Braking & Acceleration.

Troubleshooting :

• Malfunctioning of the Reed switch assly will not harm the engine, neither it will give any physical

indicators like starting trouble or misfiring.

However checking of proper functioning of Reed Switch Assly at PDI and at every service

is essential.

• Following symptoms may indicate as malfunctioning of Reed Switch Assly as one of the cause.

 

Symptom : Sudden drop in mileage & power lack in mid range rpm

Cause: The igntion systems is working only in 2nd map due to reed switch is stuck in open circuit

Remedy : Replacement of Reed Switch Assly
