Im at LTA about my warrant of arrest.

When I moved to my new apt in February I didn't update LTA with my new address. In March I apparently rode in a Bus lane when not authorized, and in April I forgot my cash card for the ERP.

 

They sent the letters to my old address. I updated my address with MOM which is required by law for foreigners on employment pass but assumed all SG Gov bodies would have the address updated as well. At the time I remember looking for info on updating my LTA address but since I received my 2A license at my new address I thought all was good.

 

Pillionette remembers me asking her about it, and we thought it was all centralised just like for Singaporeans.

 

Now I have to pay $200 for the ERP fine and $180 for the bus lane fine.

 

And on top of that I have to see a judge for the bus lane offense to explain why I didn't follow up on the first letter they sent to my old address. I could pay up to $1000, the LTA officer said its likely to be $300-600.

 

I am pissed beyond description.

I have received another fine after April for forgetting my cash card, and it was never mentioned I had something outstanding. I always pay my fines within 48h. Now because all this has escalated to the warrant of arrest, there are all these additional amounts to pay, which I find really unfair.

 

I have to go look at my bike's official LTA paper to see if anything is mentioned there. I hope the court hearing will allow me to speak my case, even the ERP fine amount of $200 is ridiculous, if I had received it would have been $10...

 

 

they will tell you that it is your responsibility to make sure all the details are updated at all the departments...

cause it has come to the point of court order you cannot pay any more compounded fine amount...

the judge will take into account that you are overseas and hence did not attend the court hearing but the escalated fine still have to pay...

btw if you did not update your address at LTA how did they serve your warrant of arrest?

2A is only a piece of sticker to paste over your original one right?

Feel sorry for you. Thats really unlucky and unfair for someone who tries to abide by the law. Me too thought that updating address in EPOnline will update address everywhere, but when I bought my second bike and gave the new address to LTA, they told me they still had old address and I was surprised. But I keep checking the online websites regularly for any fines, so I was fine.

 

There is form on the one motoring site(M19, I think) that you need to fill and send to them, to update any change in your particulars. I wish I had posted this earlier, may be you would have read it and updated your address. Really sorry.

That is not rip off. They are telling you exactly how much CC it is so you decide you want more power/more FC or less power/less FC. The rip off is when someone tells you GTS 200 and it is actually GTS 172

I dont think that pic is genuine. The pic MJ posted is the real bike spotted while road testing. I think the tank definitely is similar to the current pulsar and not the like FZ16 or Duke.

That is not rip off. They are telling you exactly how much CC it is so you decide you want more power/more FC or less power/less FC. The rip off is when someone tells you GTS 200 and it is actually GTS 172

 

really? i tot the exact cc for a 180cc is 178cc? or something like dat. likewise for the 125cc. d excat cc is for this capacity is 123cc right? ?

2-3CC is Ok lah, but this is like almost 30CC. They can call it GTS 175 no problem.

 

BTW, P180 is 179CC

They found my right address for the warrant of arrest apparently because they did a screening. Sort of a last resort thing.. And of course the second they put my passport number in the system my new address popped up.

 

I just paid $380 for the entire fines. Now I have to go to court on the 19th of December and there I could pay from $100 if I'm lucky and the judge thinks I'm a dumb noob who didn't know any better, up to $600.

 

Since I am now on bail, I can't travel overseas so I can't go to the Prides event. I'm so bumped, I was really looking forward to it

Thanks YHang It's such a bad timing as I could've used the money to fix Shadow.. But we'll see maybe I can plead my case and get some of it back..

I added voltmeter, removed cowl, and padded pillion back rest for when I fetch wife, and changed grip.

Not that I recall, I'll go through whatever letters I kept to see. But I usually never keep paper I don't need to keep so..

 

What I don't understand is how come they waited until 8 months later to try and find me? Do people usually never answer notifications and letters in SG that they wouldn't have a system at LTA to contact someone some other way ?

 

I ran through all the government bodies to check, and from MOM to taxes, every single one has my new address. Except LTA. Not to mention the obvious SP Services and Starhub/Singtel. And you're gonna tell me that no one thought of doing a simple research before 8 months?

 

Anyway, I only have myself to blame.

 

I didn't know I was in a country where when I buy a vehicle I have to make sure to tell the ministry of transport where I will move next. As if the police knowing where I lived wasn't enough. Now that I think of it, I can't imagine how charging someone with a traffic offense can work if you can't even pull the latest address attached to the driver's license...

I think even for me if i move out I wouldn't have updated LTA. It's not a foreigner's bad luck. It's just plain unlucky.

You did notice its a flat Allen key bolt and not a screw protruding out? Can ask them to put some silicon over the bolt to add some waterproof-ness and protect against scratches.
