Can't remember if it was stop production or stop importing P200s, but that was confirmed last month or something... I think it's stop importing because India still producing P200s, they are making it to look like P220s (if I remember correctly).

 

We get our Pulsars from UM, though you can get it other places as well, but original parts (stock parts) replacements we usually go back to UM.

 

Main difference? From UG3 (basically model number 3 of P180) it has single seats, kickstart, no 3D logo. UG4 (http://psychotic-vegetables.blogspot.com/2009/08/new-p180.html), is modelled to look like P200, with split seats, no kickstart, a faceted 3D logo (diff from P200), but no oil cooling system.

 

See the bottom 2 quoted posts, basically that's the diff for engine difference.

 

Or if you want a Bajaj chopper, the Bajaj Avenger has the same engine as a P180, but is chopper style instead of street bike, so theoretically you should get the same FC, but the frame weight and distribution definitely would not be the same.

IMHO the 200p has extra hp but its a bit heavier and its tires are wide.

So both their top speed and the CF are almost the same la.

Ohhhh... just googled it. UG stands for upgrade. So UG4 is Upgrade number 4

For the P200 I actually think the chrome pipe is ugly. So I wouldn't mind if I didn't have that.

i founf out what was the cause liao

just now after i reached home i wanted to wash my rain shoes then i found out that the zip at the side abit spoiled

so when i zipped up very fast the zip did not totally zipped up left a hole there

i managed to realign the zips liao and now ok liao

but i will still buy one more bigger size one

the one i have size just nice when in this afternoon the situation(rain getting heavier and trying to faster put on my rain shoes) i will tend to force my leg in which is what causes the zip to be mis-aligned hence the hole and reservoir inside

with bigger size will be easier to wear faster

 

Imho ... zip easily to spoil especially when you wear it in a rush ...it's worth to get the boots cover with velcro straps .. expensive but last longer....

Happens if we can get a date with him before Hari Raya, my suggestion is we organise 1 meet up and activate all pulsarians members to unite for CHARITY.

 

What I mean for those who wish to do the washing wil do first and will meet up with the rest pulsarians somewhere and we move together to Geylang in the evening to donate for the Tabung Amal Aidil Fitri (TAA)... later we can gather for makan or kopi session ... what do you all think .. Meet Up cum Charity, SBT.. lets roll out and donate!

 

my suggestion only lah .... we can do this also for other festive seasons charity in future too maybe next Deepavali, Christmas, Lunar New Year ...

 

I know lah it's a bit rushing but if we don't make the first move, we can't even start ...

I am new to sbf as i getting my licence soon but the only bike tat I am interested to get is bajaj pulsar, but before I getting pulsar, may I know what the different between 180 n 200 dsti ? Correct me or wrong is it only due to 20 cc different ?how about fc wise is there any different ? I only notice for 180 come with single seat while 200 come with split seat. Where do you guy get ur pulsar from ? Hi Gennosukes, welcome to the forum !

Like UKnight explained, UG stands for upgrade. The latest P180 is UG4, and it has very little difference with the P200.

The P200 is not produced anymore by Bajaj, hence will probably not be imported in the future by Universal Motors (everyone call it "UM").

The P220 has replaced the P200 and apparently Bajaj are now focusing their marketing efforts on lower volumes: 135 / 150 & 180cc.

 

The P180 UG4 has the same wide tyres as the P200, the same fairing, and borrows the forks from the P220. It has the same split seat and tank as the P200. Look wise, the only thing that differenciate the new P180 UG4 from the P200 is the exhaust pipe: the P180 UG4 has the same exhaust pipe as older P180 models.

There is another difference that I still haven't confirmed: the P200 is oil cooled, the P180 UG4 might still be air cooled like her older sisters.

 

And of course, the P180 UG4 has a little bit less of power as explained in the previous posts from this page. To me, it doesn't really make a big difference, specially for the main use riders make of the Pulsar in Singapore: transportation at "slow" speed.

 

Regarding the FC, I believe no one here has yet heard of feedbacks for the P180 UG4. Maybe on indian forums we might be able to find more information? But I'm not worried about the FC, it should be as awesome as with other Pulsar models.

 

If you are keen to join, I plan on visiting UM shop tomorrow Thursday, if you want to come along. I believe there's no better way of deciding between the two bikes than seeing them and asking questions to the staff there.

Oh I have a question about this by the way: do you clear the customs with the bike or you park the bike somehwere, clear the customs as a pedestrian then get the back and carry on ?

We will just ride our bike in... bike together with human... Bike need to clear custom too...

Well in the event that when i'm finally ready to buy the bike it has disappeared from the SG market , I ran a quick comparison between the Pulsar 180 UG4 and the Pulsar 200, and I have a question about how to read/understand the following about the maximum power:

 

Pulsar 200

18.00 HP (13.1 kW)) @ 8000 RPM

Pulsar 180 UG4

14.09 HP @ 8500 RPM

 

How do you translate this in non-technical knowledge?

What are the HP / RPM values for ?

 

I found the same set of values for the "torque" : what is it and what's the difference between the torque and the above ?

 

Other than these, the specs of the two bikes match I think.

 

Let me try to explain you. Understand this basics first.

 

HP = Horse Power (a scale to measure power)

RPM = Revolution Per Minute

Torque = Torque, also called moment or moment of force is the tendency of a force to rotate an object about an axis,fulcrum, or pivot. Just as a force is a push or a pull, a torque can be thought of as a twist.

 

 

1) Pulsar 200 achieves 18 Horse Power with 8000 RPM.

2) Pulsar 180 achieves 14.09 Horse Power with 8500 RPM.

 

The logic is quite simple over here since P200 has more displacement (CC- Cubic centimetre) hence more power.

 

Now talking about Torque - it is another set of measurement derived with connecting HP and RPM.

 

Horsepower = (Torque X RPM)/ 5252

Hence

 

Torque = (Horsepower x 5252)/ RPM

 

That translates as Horsepower increases, RPM decreases - Torque is higher.

 

So, you might ask - how the torque is useful? It is a measurement of a vehicles ability to pull. It is foot pounds of twist or effort.

 

Hope this explanation helps you to understand. Shoot me with Qs if you are unclear.

u clear customs with ur bike. theres no nd to park ur bike.
