In some countries overseas, definitely not worth the try. But here i think it's pretty safe if you park in a good place: i.e avoid back alleys, empty MSCP, or weird hours (late night - early morning). Of course, overnight, take the helmet with you.

I have thought about buying this:

http://www.pac-safe.com/media/product/product_image/medium/1953_27_1538_27_LidSafe_with_Anti-theft.jpg

Check out the video on their page, ppretty convincing...

http://www.pac-safe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&_action=detail&id=27

The advantage is it's slash-rpoof, and you can use anykind of lock/chain to lock it. I wouldn't leave the helmet hanging on the handle bar, but most probably put it on the ground under the bike and lock it somwhere very troublesome to get to for a thieve (i.e he'll have to bend or squat or smthg..)

Should be enough to leave the helmet when going for food or shopping or even the movies..

Reviews I found:

"I bought two LidSafes for my wifes and my helmets. This product is fairly easy to use and provides protection, both from thieves and the elements for those times when its necessary (or more convenient) to leave the helmets on the bike. My helmet has already been left on the bike during an afternoon downpour and it was nice and dry when I got back. I cant say that I have any experience with the security of this product, but it looks like it should deter all but the most determined of thieves."

Great Idea - This bag is just what I needed. It protects my helmet from the rain and secures it from interested eyes. Many Pacsafe products come with small key padlocks. I prefer small brass combination locks. Those are easily purchased anywhere. All of the Pacsafe products are worth the time, effort, and money to obtain and use.

Very practical - I just bought this bag and love it. I don't want to carry my helmet, but I don't want to leave it hanging from the side of my bike either. This protects my helmet from the elements and from theft. My only disappointment is that it doesn't fold up smaller when empty. Definitely won't fit in my pocket.

i know about this product

in 1 of my previous post i asked about the pacsafe tank bag which is slash proof and can stay attached to your tank when u need to leave the bike for awhile

but i think this is not sold in singapore

and it is not cheap to bring in through singpost(Vpost got sell)

i think you will not want to leave your helmet under your bike in case someone accidentally kicks it

Oh it was you :cheeky: I remembered reading about here on SBF but couldn't remember where exactly..

How much is it through singpost/vpost? Sometimes overseas online shop can surprise you: if Vpost is too expensive for me, I email the shop and sometimes they quote an international shipping fee that's very much acceptable, maybe i can try with pacsafe. Or check it on ebay ?

If you leave the helmet on the bike, people can also kick it or drop it no? Unless maybe if you secure it closely to the handle bar? Hmm...

the product is retailing at USD$59.95

so expect to be $100+ by the time u get your hands on it in singapore

someone selling it for $105 on SBF brand new

thats y i considering covering my helmet with the helmet bag that came with it when i buy my helmet and then using a steel bicycle chain to chain my flip up on my bike by going through the D rings(if i were to leave it there)

I see.. Well, here's a page displaying a few options :

http://www.bmwrt.com/faq/helmet_locks.htm

but I think the D-ring solution isn't one, 'cause the thief can just cut the straps and take the helmet..

all those options in the pictures the helmets are all held to the locks by their D Rings

if the thief were to cut the straps then the helmet will be loose and without the d rings to tighten liao

How many people got their helmet stolen like that, there are tons of stories on SBF about this.. Makes one want to ride from home to work and work to home and always have their gear with them :(

Safety tips:

Always STOP at the STOP LINE!

Don't rush. You're not racing for a record.

Always look in front, especially when trying to change lanes, the vehicle in front might jam brake.

Don't be easily offended, a**holes exists, mingling with them gets you sh*t.

Why not put it into the box?

I know that although a box has a lock, it can been sawn and broken into easily.

Maybe if i have silverboi's box then can...

His box is huge can put 2 FF easily with space to spare...

What i mean is when i m out with my gf n i m wearing my flip up then got 2 helmets...my box only got space for my flip up,my gf's helmet no space to put...then i will just keep my in the box n lock hers on the handlebar...have to think n plan for rare occasions where shop for long then box full etc...but then also this situation will be quite rare unless we go shopping for a long time etc then box oso full etc...have to plan n think of this type of rare but can happen occasions...
