What else..? Oh, I got a parking fine because I parked in Dhoby Ghaut, you know the uphill road that goes from Orchard road to Singapura Plaza, by The Cathay ? There used be tons of bikes parking all the time there, and one Sunday morning, parked there, noticed there was no bikes, but I thought maybe it's because it's early..didn't think twice. 2 Hours later, I found a fine on my tank :cry::cry: $70 :cry::cry:

I felt so stupid... now, I only park illegally if there's tons of other bikes around, because I know it means traffic police kind of tolerate it. I know, I know, I shouldn't park illegally at all, but when you're a newbie, and don't know at all where to park, even with the parking thread here on SBF, it's sometimes difficult to park safely and legally..

That's it from me ! Thanks for reading, and see you on Saturday if you're joining !

Never park anywhere other than proper parking lot, lah. Near my office at Changi Business park, everybody used to park on the footway for the last one year. Then suddenly one day the Cisco Certis guys came and fined everyone. Then they again came the next day and fined whoever had parked. So they came continously twice. Now nobody parks there. I was also fined and it was the first day I had got my bike. But I appealed and it is already 2 months and not got any info from SPF, so I think they have forgiven me.

It is better to park in a parking lot, even without coupon, they fine only 8$ I think. It is much better than 70$.

Hi fellow pulsarians !

Sorry for the radio silence, now you're probably used to it: I'm sent overseas for work, or I'm here in SG but drowning in work, so I put aside my visits on our beloved forum thread.. :giddy:

But I'm glad I came to visit today, and saw the BTMO for this saturday and I can't wait to see you guys again ! :cheer::cheer:

A few news on my part:

Shadow is doing well, I just recently reached 870km, so I'm planning on doing her 1st servicing this week at UM. Not sure yet what day, I need to call and see when is the best time as the soonest I can get out of work is 6pm.

I feel much more comfortable riding after a few months, I feel like everytime I take the bike for a ride, I learn something !

I have not done any changes to the bike, didn't find the time, so I am still very interested in putting hazard lightsand changing my horn.

Being the safety freak that I am, I invested in a pair of 3/4 boots, not too bulky but yet very comfortable and I feel protected. (A female biker I know, riding a phantom, posted on FB her photos after a skid/slide at low speed, she was wearing closed sandals: the foot skin really took a very bad injury, bleeding like mad..).

TCX X-Square Boots: (They look grey but are in fact all black)

http://www.newenough.com/image/path/20708/2009_TCX_X-Square_All_Purpose_Boot_Black.jpg

I also opted for a tank bag, you know how I don't like rear boxes, and I wasn't sure I needed saddle bags for the day to day riding, so I got myself a mini tank bag and a bigger one. The mini is for commuting, it holds a notebook, phone(s),money pouch, a water bottle and camera. The bigger one has amazing space, and I use it when I need to carry lots of stuff, groceries, or gym stuff.

Yeah.. I learned my lesson, now as much as possible I try to find a proper parking space, or I hide my bike somewhere

Yeah it's tempting when there's lots of bikes around.. I think specially on WEs you don't want to spend 30min looking for a parking space, you just drop the bike where ever..

wires, a relay, a beautiful switch that u like to press.

basically that about all, as for the small metal thing (dont know what they're call) basically to clip the wires nicely. it's optional, cos if u dont want just twist the cables together.

Oh ok thanks... *scratches head*..ehm, Arthur ? What kind of wires ? What kind of relay ? and the switch needs specific features or size or anything ?

I can go get this but I need more details to know what to ask at the shop :shy:

well, if u join us, all the things can be bot nearby.

1) wires: not too sure what type also, since it's only 12v, i'm guessing any insulated copper wire will do. pros pls advise :cheeky:

2) relay: bot from LAB, think $4, if they charge u ex, just bargain ur friend got cheaper

3) switch: (ur choice what type/design u like) must be 4 pin type.

also u need to consider where u want to mount ur switch, since it's diy, we dont have any specific place. wire n switch can be bot from sim lim tower, if u drop by there, do take a look, they have a wide variety of switch. also consider water proofing it. advise to avoid those with a stick where u flip up n down.

as for how i do, i just tape up the switch and climp btw my mirror and throttle. of cos i need to adjust my mirror bracket in a bit. as for cookie, he drilled a hole under his signal and mount a box there.

actually still have the connectors to connect the wires to the switch

and the connectors for the wires to the relay

the connectors i bought i specifically ask for those waterproof ones cos your switch will be exposed to the elements

even if your water proof the conenctions as another layer of safety

or maybe we can meet up at sim lim tower 1st and get the stuff then head to the mscp

might also want to get some cable ties and ziplock bags

i have attached some pics of the things that need to get

the pink connector is fromt eh wire to the switch

the yellow connector is from the wire to the signal relay

the switch in the picture is the wrong one that i bought the other time

need 4 pins instead of the 2 pins in the picture

the wire is these red and black ones

i bought the thicker ones, the thinner ones will do also
