G'day everyone,

I just bought a P200 (2nd hand) rather cheaply from a friend 2 weeks ago but already skidded twice in the car park.

Was thinking of a few upgrading. Any recommendation of an honest, reliable bike shop?

I feel like changing the tires, front & back suspensions & probably would do anything to increase the speed.

I really need some input, pls help

Hi,

welcome to SBT

curious how much you paid for the bike and how old is the bike?

is your bike still on stock tires?

front suspension i not sure(anyone can comment on this?)

for the rear there are a few options you can look around

a few of the pulsar riders have already changed their rear suspension

our bike is not built for speed. it is built for good fuel consumption & endurance. however it does not mean that our bike cannot go up to high speeds

but in singapore we do not really need the speed and with better speed = higher fuel consumption.

this is really up to individual. wacking/pushing your bike to the hight limit will not only do harm to your bike but also increases the risks of the rider getting hurt.

for bike workshop if for changing of tires/changing of eo most workshop can do it

but for more complicated servicing/repair will recommend you to go back to UM at Bt Merah...

Hi and welcome to SBT !

Alvin gave you all the answers, I'd go to UM if you don;t already have a bike shop you are used to visit. They know Pulsars by heart and would be able to advise you and do the work without learning as they do.

I have to emphasize what Alvin said about this bike not being a racing bike. Usually people who tried to use it just for speed gave up after a few weeks/ couple of months: as much as it can go up to 120km/h and maybe above, it's not a comfortable zone for the bike. The vibrations, but also the fuel consumption and the stress put on the engine will not make it a pleasant ride for you. Many riders pick it because of it's low maintenance cost, and essentially because it's cheap to gaz up, but you'll probably get more satisfaction riding a sports bike that can give you the speed you are looking for.

That being said, there are a few changes you can make in your sprocket size if you want to increase the top end speed (you'll probably loose in pick up speed), and you can get rid of the rear box if there's one, roll on half empty tank all the time and pick good tires to accomodate your need for speed :)

That looks pretty cool - I did not really understand how by black taping the stock LEDs, you can avoid having to desolder ? You'd still have to solder the new strips to the electronic board, no ?

Yes, it prevents you from desoldering/soldering the stock led strip, but you still need to solder the new strip to your board, and you still need to desolder the stock led strip wires from the board, don't you ?

There has to be around here solutions for additional lights, that we can maybe adapt to a bike...

the black tape will block out the light emitted from the stock leds

need to find a way to connect the new led stip

which they did not state

You mean they had you pay $45 (or less) to replace a part that's not even part of the problem ? Try going to aniother bike shop, sometimes fresh pair of eyes on a problem can help, specially is the mechanic is not used to Pulsars, he might find the cause of the problem.

In general how would you guys rate Pulsar's breaks ?

I'm not a fast rider, my max speed in town is probably 65km/h, on the expressway average is around 75km/h with short peaks at 90km/h, yet I feel that the breaks aren't all that powerful., especially when riding with a pillion. So I wonder if it's me who needs to to some maintenance on the brakes or change something, or if it's the bike .. ?

Other than by tightening the rear brake's screw to tighten the cable, is there anything else I can do to improve the brakes efficiency ?
