Brandon, thanks for info

O'ren, yup he was the 1st owner & installment fully paid up. Aiyah... photo of bike is the same as everyone, moreover there isn't any modification to show off.

Thanks guys for the info on the brake pads ! :cheer:

I've been googling it a bit (It's great to have people give feedback and info and posting articles here, but i sometimes feel I know so little about everything that I must at least do a little bit of research on my own to get up to speed :cheeky)

Read about the EBC brakes, indeed good reviews here and there and they seem like a consistent choice for bikers so I'm looking forward to your reviews and impressions after tomorrow !

The more I think about it, the more I want to get a rear disc brake.. I'm gonna try to find some info about the risks, the options available and all that..

Hey while you're at Unique to change the brake pads, could you ask how much it costs to have them installed, just the brake pads please? So I can compare with UM :deal:

If browse through previous posts during the time i fixed my HEL SS brakehose..stated i fixed EBC front brake pads..the thing is..i never take note of the model number..so..kiraguyver & glyzco..can kindly lemme know the model number so next time can just order from PMO thread..see how cheap issit me also not sure..

EBC front brake pads for pulsar - $50 (Unique Motorsports @ Toh Guan)

Sadly though, NO REAR BRAKE SHOE for our bike drum brake..I even ask the distributor for EBC in singapore. I went on to official EBC website and downloaded the catalogue..found our bike model but stated there (TBA -To Be Announce) & (TBD - To Be Determine).. o_O

Now, im asking a bike shop in sg who does rear disc conversion for mopeds(kup kia's)..still enquiring.

For indo counterparts, i'm not active currently but will do so cause wanna ask about HID & rear hugger..hehehe .

Btw nice meeting u all @ hj.karim just now..my leds not bright hor? o_O next month wanna do some more :cheeky:

COMPILATION OF SBT FAQs

This project (along with creating a website for our group, to serve the local pulsarians and communicate with fellow riders outside Singapore) is still alive, after being repeatedly started and forgotten (by many people including me).

I have been working on it again for a week or so now, and I need your help to review, amend and provide answers to the FAQs I am collecting from this very thread. (I am currently at page 23)

The idea is to come up with a list of specific questions, organized by categories, to answer any new or old pulsarians questions. These questions have been selected from this thread, some are very frequently asked, some are specific and rare, many are related and some need to be added to the list.

The attached file has different tabs :

- Blog Categories: this will help me create the blog/website's structure, and organize it's content

- SBT FAQs: this is the heart of this project, the idea is to compile FAQs to post them online for everyone to read and consult at anytime.

- Articles Material: ideas of articles and content for our website

- Useful files & URLs: links and files that can be useful to Pulsarians

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What do I need your help with ?

1. Download the file, edit what you want/can, you can edit any tab content, or even add new tabs. Re-upload it here. I will compile all inputs.

2. When editing, feel free to correct answers, to add questions or content, to remove, whatever you want and think is best. Some answers need re-writing, some words to be translated in english, some information corrected.

But please ALWAYS ADD YOUR CHANGES IN COLOR !!! (either highlight the cell or use different font color)

3. Don't be shy, if you are reading/posting here, you probably know a lot about Pulsars, so please do share your knowledge. Feel free to suggest anything, to submit topics, to add ideas.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can really add edit anything, fill in blanks where we are missing a question or an answer or the categories assigned is not the right one. AS long as you flag your changes with a colored cell, I can track it and compile the changes.

As I go, I will update the version of this file from v1 to subsequent numbers, so you always know if you have checked the latest one to review.

I cannot do this by myself, I lack the knowledge and the time. But if we all come together, we can compile something that can turn into a great source of information :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Thanks in advance for your help, and don't hesitate to contact me if you need any clarifications.

Like last year, we are doing something special to give back to the community

I am hence calling for all SBT active members, active readers and active lurkers (you know who you are!), currently riding a Pulsar or who have been riding a Pulsar in the past, or who know someone who knows someone who saw a Pulsar one day in the street

Bottom line, this is it, the opportunity to spend a great evening with friends, to make new friends, to give back to people in need, and to learn from others or just tease them because a cat peed on their bike :D

If you've always wanted to join a BTMO but never could, if you are shy or completely anti-social and like this group just fine as long as it's just on your screen, it doesn't matter: this is the time when you decide you want to meet us, you want to see what we look like and most of all, you want to ride together with us !:cool:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What to expect from this BTMO:

- Flawless organisation (Well, will try my best:cheeky:)

- Excellent company (I guarantee you there will be all levels of humour and jokes, from silly ones to very very very silly ones :thumb:)

- New friends (some of them ride Phantoms so you know they are cool )

- Tons of Pulsar and Phantom bikes riding like we invented motorcycling

- Great experience sharing and giving back to people in need, through companionship and brotherhood (sisterhood  )

- Surprise food and surprise drinks (No, I can't tell you more, it's a surprise!!)

So come join us, even the dark side loves our awesome BTMOs !

Now dat ive read it, I cant remember wat prob it is. However, plse do note dat u can tamper anything with ur bike, but dun ever tamper with ur internal engines. Dun even rebore it. If u wana tamper with electricals, be careful with it. Once again, a reminder to all, if possible, avoid tampering the internal engine. It will shorten d bikes lifespan.

so something happened to the engine but u cant remember? and u were cruising abt 100km/h for the trip?

anyway the trip im planning will be with my uncle. he's an experienced tourer so small maintenance problems he's able to handle. but major engine problems would be a problem

fyi... there are no 'experts' here .. we are just the same as you still learning to understand our bike capabilities. Concerning your suspension thingy can share with us more details .. what actually you feel from your bike, wobbling from where .. front tyre, handling, or rear tyre? Which suspension is very soft? front fork or rear shock? ...

my suggestion to you is to go UM (Universal Motor) first and enquire from them what is the source of the problem you are facing... let them test ride your bike and if the answer is the same as your previous mech, then you have the choice to opt for which workshop you want to have your ride done...

wobbling or shaking can comes from many reasons and parts ... thats one reason I ask you to share what's actually you feel when you ride and take corner .. why the 'not confidence exist'? ... can share :)

basic maintainence b4 a long trip, engine oil,(most important!!), chain condition, front and rear brakes, spark plugs, clutch plates, clutch and trottle cable.

so far during my group/ solo trip, the worst encounter i ever exp is broken chain and damaged bearings. (most of them are solo trips.)

keep in mind that if you trottle high speeds at highways, ride around 100-130km, then rest for 1/2hr max. however, wen traveling slow in trunk/small roads, ride around 80-90km then rest. wen u travel slow, ur engine will be hotter, so u need to stop more often.

Hi Lanzer,

I guess the `lack of confidence' occurred when cornering at certain speed, there was a feeling that I'm not able to lean & if I lean beyond a particular point, I would probably skid. The handle seemed to vibrate/jerky at that stage...err..quite difficult to describe.

You're right, I should seek 2nd opinion in UM. When I brought this matter to the mechanic that I mentioned, he took the bike for a test ride & concluded that suspension is too soft, he adjusted the rear to max (hardness) to see if it helps. So far I think the wobble/jerkiness has lessened. Actually I'm starting to wonder if the 2 skidding incident had psychologically affected me, making me nervous when attacking a corner. Btw has anyone changed front/back suspension? If majority are having stock suspension & having no problem with that, maybe I should just changed the tyres only & see if it helps.

When I was browsing through this thread randomly, there's so many interesting riders out there with valuable experience & tips...you guys are expert leh. Riders like nemesis, lindavw, you, sc gaban, suvespa, cookie monster etc are like the Jedi Masters.

Another thing to add, use a proper fully synthetic engine for better lifespan inside ur engine especially on long trips. No harm topping up a bit of the oil. Or pulsar, some pple use agip or mobil 1.

Hi lanzer, u miss ur favourite numbers but not ur pulsar right? hahaha

everything is not finalised yet but most likely just the two of us. he's riding a honda deuville 650. so he's suggesting us to meet at checkpoints during the tour due to difference in speed. sounds scary though.
