@elim, take care & speedy recovery. as for ur case, it really depends if u got reason to fight, i got into quite similar situation as u, now still waiting for outcome. as for damage, just wait 4 his repairs n claim ur insur, ur insur will send u the claim amt. if u find it's what u can pay, call ur agent for pte settle, i think that can be done. if u need help can always call any of us up.

@elim, i just called my agent, it's better u dont do the settlement private, let the other party bring up to insurance, (unless those small case like a scratch), then from there ask ur agent if it's more worth if u settle pte. cos 1 thing if u settle pte direct, there's a lot of hidden cost which might occur, also i doubt u hit the other party, he only suffer a scratch.

Guys,just got into an accident at CTE(SLE).I bang head on to a Nissan Murano. My mom was the pillion and thankfully the both of us were okay.She has aches and pain on her knee though coz she fell.

 

I wasnt going very fast(60-70km/hr) on the 2nd lane. I wanted to lane change to 1st lane(extreme right) when I checked my blind spot,looked back and I was 1 second away from hitting the back of the car because he braked hard. I think because a taxi wanted to lane change from 1st to 2nd lane. His car's bumper plate had a few scratches here and there and we agreed on a private settlement.(Is it the right thing to do for a minor accident?)

 

Details of contacts were exchanged and he told me he would call me 2mr to inform me of the charges.Any rough idea?If it is too expensive then if he were to claim me it would be more expensive right? My bike's front fender has scratches,head cracked,handle bar alignment gone.I think my fork alignment is okay but will have to go UM soon to check it out.Im still sticking to aftermarket parts(handlebar,head) because its cheaper and it looks waaaay better.

Settle privately, trust me. Write up a contract stating what can and cannot be done. Get him to sign once both agree, in any cases of breach contract your black & white is there to support you. I rather u fork out your own $ than allow him to claim your insurance plus u P plate the price jack up freaking high. I got into accident and was hospitalize, my insurance is 1.4k I can buy a kup....

 

Lastly to all riders pls ride safely.

I almost kiss the rear of a merc's while exiting CTE --> AYE a few days back while speedin thru the tunnel (was not in a good mood so i speed around on that day). Luckily my front brake EBC pad saved the day . Out of point a bit here but dont ride with negative emotions on the road..just inviting accidents..

2) Always keep a lookout for car infront/behind even at your side.

3) Develop a habit of looking at your mirror before lane changing

4) Turn your head to see the blindspot when lane changing.

5) Maintain an awarness of your surrounding traffic.

6) Dun do lane changing when you notice a car traveling very fast from behind.

7) Keep a safe distance from the front car.

8) Give way to those impatience driver

9) Better late than neber arrive.

He quoted me 4k!!!! Bloody *O&^$ His workshop told me that the back bumper needs to be replaced and the exhaust has an internal dent that cant be knocked back(you kidding me?) I told him to go to my workshop and get a quote from them but he refused(I think because he wants to carrot me).My uncle's friend told me +- $500 only. He refused that option then he told me he would claim insurance and told me to do the same too.I need to make a police report soon.

WHat to do in when involved in a Road Traffic accident.

Minor accident without injury

 

1) Get Witness contact ( Name / Contact / veh number)

2) exchange driver paticular / Contact / Nric / Veh number.

3) take photo (If possible)

4) Shift to the shoulder lane and talk there.

5) Private settlement - Ensure there a written black and white.

6) Report to IDAC / Report to workshop

 

Minor accident with injury (If you are at fault).

Same as above

 

Minor accident with injury (If you are NOT fault).

Make a police report for record purpose and not for using against the other party.
