If you look at the manual for pulsar ...

 

P180 - grade or superior SAE 20W50 of API SG+JASO MA

subsequent every 2,500 km.

 

P200 - grade or superior SAE 20W50 of API SJ+JASO MA

subsequent every 5000 km (max)

 

I ride P200 (July 08) using Mobil 1 Full synthetic since my 2nd running in .. change every 3000 - 3500 depends on how I whack my RIde... average speed limit 90 - 110km.

 

Till now ok but who knows when the time will come ... still praying for the best.

 

Like Eliminator stated .. yesss it's all about your EO!

Know which EO work best for your ride and stick with that ... me who cares what others used .. my choice still Mobil 1 FS. .. hehehhe

 

oh btw ... talking abt engine heheh have a try on Xado products .. you will nevr know hahah .... poison here!

UM's Mobil 1 EO is mineral? I thought is semi-syn? The next EO I wanna try is Bel-ray! Unique Motors topup to extra 200ml to 1.2L for free!! So you pay the price of 1L for 1.2(or 1.5 if p200).

how come you need to top up to 1.2L?

P180 even overhual needs only 1.1L

Alvin, Do you notice any difference if you use XXW40 instead of XXW50 EO on our pulsar?I am thinking of trying out Maxima or Motul Semi-synthetic XXW50 next time. Do you know their prices in AGL?

WELCOME TO SBT ................. heheheh ............ remind me of someone here too with the same curiousity of our Pulsar fuel tank when he first bought his P200 black karrerr .....

one day we can have BF together at Jurong West Ave 1 Teh Tarik ..... hmmmm talking abt Teh tarik .......

yeah! quite awhile since Fasting month I have'nt take a sit with a nice fresh Teh tarik and Prata.

 

Wanna join me and HVC tmr for BF .... anyone ???

actually depends on individual bikes

for me my 1st bar will drop in the range of 120-170km

my fuel guage bar drop is quite propotional to the fuel inside my tank

after calculation will still get the superb fuel consumption:thumb:

some of the riders the fuel bar will not drop until 200-300km

then the drop will be fast but the fuel consumption is still superb:thumb:

you should still be able to see the fuel inside the tank when you open up your fuel cap at 200+km

Time 10am since HVC finish his nightshift at 9.30pm. Maybe can ask Glzco and Kira too to drop by also .. need to see his Fazer to book what accessories he got if he want to change his Ride again hahahah

mine is due to wiring problems. The mech sctually snapshot the problems. he really help to check and go into it. He claims those whole bunch of cables actually quite fragile and tend to break if not place properly when turning handle bar left and right might press the cable. After times it will cause intermittent problems to electronics problems. Some choose to change whole set of wiring for the bike which cost about 90 plus.

naked pulsar riding with 80-90km/h, seldom sudden brake,seldom suddenly open throttle should not have a problem hitting 40+km/L

 

petrol wise as long as you don't pump V Power can already

whichever grade of petrol we pump in sing/m'sia

our diagphram will still go expand over time

with v power, it will spoil faster

Bro .. the best guide is to look at both sides .. what your engine requirement and the brand of EO meant for bike. .. Most branded EO stated and meant for racing cos the word racing means fast, power, oh.. my idol racer used this and that ..and etc...

 

Our bike are not Racing bike just to remind you .. Pulsar engine no doubt are very powerful but yet very 'fragile' on the parts in it. This bike are very powerful at low and mid rpm but very fragile at high end rpm.

 

So you should take this as consideration as most branded EO are meant for racing and not endurance long ride. Please google and read about racing bikes or cars ... their powerful engine are very powerful and sad to say it last only for that particular race event.. after the race they have to overhaul for the next race!!

 

So using their so call EO branded for our bike, do you think our engine can take the load if we whack the bike as like racing engine bike? ..

 

I did not say the branded EO are not for our bike or something like that but truely consider our engine .. do our pulsar engine meant for racing? Common sence will tell and know but to some riders the mentality are corrupted by the Racing factor.

 

So to end my bubbling and wasting time to some .. please understand our engine and use what ever EO that suit the purpose.

 

The life span max for every EO stated on the manual guide.

 

If you like that particular brand, don't just by hear say by other riders but read the brand article and know what it suit best and compatible with your daily ride.

 

Yes .. engine sometimes you need to ride relax and at times you need to whack whack whack (borrowed gaban's word) .. this to have balance on the smoothness of all around the engine area for best performance.

 

Mobil 1 for me ... yes till now I have faith with the EO performance... max 5000 miles = almost 8000km but to play safe with my engine I change every 3000 - 3500 km ... to have a go for 4000km or more hmm not sure of pulsar engine capabilities but for current 3500km ... my bike said all.

 

See you one day for chit chat .. tmr if ok with you BF at teh Tarik ... by then SAFE RIDE and take care of your Ride.

 

 

Hmmmmm.. oh almost forgot .... yesterday there was a Fatal Accident along Jurong Town Hall Rd X PIE .. motrcycle and a car ... Rider died on the spot!!!! Very Sad and SCARY indeed.

because of the higher octane rating

our diaphragm will become softer with higher octane rate petrol

changing of the diaphragm if you do at UM is $25

anyway our bike can take Ron 92 which is already a higher grade than our recommended grade Ron 87

most of us normally will cycle between 92 & 95

but if go m'sia pump then no choice only 97

In this case, why do pulsar riders choose a range of eo pricing that is varies from $8 - $24. will pricey eo performed better? But ultimately they still gonna change eo like max 2.5k to protect the engine of pulsar.

 

In my memory, for car, they will tell me change $50 eo good enuf if you seldom drive for max mileage at 5k, or you change better eo $100 that can go for 10k for your car. Thats y i got the mentality that better grade like fully syn can clock further mileage for the next eo change. Dosen`t this apply to pulsar bike also?
