u got put alarm b4?

battery got flat?

where is good to install the alarm? i think i buy the alarm from rabbit and install some other shop

a few of us in SBT using spy alarm

if you tap correctly it should not zap too much juice

of course if you planning to leave the bike alone for quite some time

it is advisable to disconnect your battery and/or just take out the fuse from the alarm system

ask rabbit to install for you if you get from him

if not motoworld charge $20-30 for installation

lol.. true, it was super tiny, but alamak just stomped on it until he screamed his lungs off , made me jump and I was 5m away !

I will upload the entire album if that's what you mean - and I always make sure the photos are accessible to all, you can even get the original resolution if you want to save a particular photo. (Under the photo menu "Action" -> View all sizes).

Is that ok or I misunderstood you ?

And can you please let Oni and Niaa know it's been uploaded and they can go check it out too please ?

Can you upload your photos and ask Oni to do the same ? Lanzer, you took some pics too ! :shy:

Edit: Photos of the accident are now coming through one by one.. refresh the above link to see them..will post when all done.

Well, you know how it is, we don;t want to make a big deal out of it, but yeah I was the bike following him, and it didn't look good at all. I'm glad we kept a long distance between us and I'm glad we always try to stay well behind the bike in front while still keeping on eye on cars trying to squeeze in. I think we can still improve our convoy riding in that matter and make sure everyone knows how to keep a safe distance.

Of course when we came back at night, I had to stay close enough to Gaban because he was helping me see better with his bike's lights and he was great at leading us through the corner and the dark streches of the road: I was shocked at how POOR the headlight beams was ! both high and low and pretty much totally useless in non lit roads at night. And it was like all MY vehicles had super powered lights so very blinding.. But thanks to everyone sticking together and to the advices I got half way from the other bikers on how to position my bike when riding at night like this, I felt safer and could carry on until JB where there's lights so much easier.

His gear definitely saved him a lot of injuries: have a look at the helmet pictures, the visor and chin side took all the scratches and hits, and when I got to him, his helmet was still very much fixed on his head and protected him even when he fell on the ground - I was so glad he was wearing a full face when i got to him because I thought if there's no hit, he will be fine because the helmet was still well put on his head.

As for the jacket, we took the pictures to also show everyone here who rides without an armored jacket. These jacket have cordura textile which helps take the abrasion and the hit, plus the armored pads protect your bones from breaking and sometimes prevent bruises. More importantly, it protects your skin from small rocks that can go through the textile. The jacket saved his shoulder and elbows when he fell.

And for everyone's sake, please not that this happened at average speed, just before the accident, I saw 85 kmph on my speedo (I always check regularly to control myself and not go above certain limits I force myself to respect on road I never been on). So by the time he fell he was probably doing less than 70kmph because I saw him break and he lost a lot of speed entering the side road. So for people who think they don't need a jacket because our bikes don't go above 120kmph or whatever, please think again.

Honestly Harmonia, when I saw you had the jacket, the gloves, I was so relieved, and went to check your legs first after your head, because I knew that the bigger risk was there. The gloves protected you well, you can see on one picture how the finger tips were "eaten" by the abrasion, and the left hand globe is scratched all over the palm.

I agree with MJ these accidents are part of the learning process, but you also did your part by wearing gear, and protecting your body with the right equipment so kudos to you for that, very rarely young riders go and invest in all this because they want to look cool but you did the right thing.

And I also think you did the right thing in controlling the bike and managing to slow down before you hit the ground. Maybe next learning will be around "jumping off" the bike like Oni said haha :cheeky:

As for a learning for us as a group, I think we should have a rule to not take riders with less than 3-4 months riding experience outside JB. I know it can sound harsh but it's also to prevent bad experience that might lead people to dropping our of riding ! I hope Harmonia you'll still want to ride after this (well I know you will because you wanted to ride back to SG :slapforehead: !).

The other thing is probably do a 65-80kmph speed when we have new riders. It seemed to me like this was doable with the traffic without creating hogging effect. But most importantly I think we need to share and talk before the ride: Gaban obviously you have the most experience riding these roads and a lot of what you learned can be used by others. Lanzer too I thought had an excellent riding style: I followed him most of the way to Mersing and it was really great. He anticipates a lot, never takes risks, never let himself be trapped in a situation where he is pressured by other cars, and he never rushes in his reaction. This is where I saw how much riding experience plays a big role: he had a much faster more powerful bike, yet I found he was the most cautious.

The most important thing to take from this accident is that we acted naturally as a team:all the bikers quickly arrived at the accident, everyone helped to make harmonia feel better, take care of his things, provide all sorts of assistance(from talking to the police, to advising on the bike towing, to giving him water). Everyone discussed the best options and we all sticked together until we all reached SG together. This was truly inspirational and heart warming, a true bikers brother/sisterhood and a true human bond between people who are literally very different from each other in all things, culture, religion, race, shape and... sizes !

So there was an unfortunate incident, but everyone reacted as one and that was for me the best part of it and I am glad I went on this trip with such an amazing group ! :thumb::thumb::cheers::thumb::thumb:

like what a instructor at BBDC told me when i was taking my 2A, after we saw a lady learner lost control and skidded in the circuit, he dismounted and ran over to help her...we as bikers need to stop to help fellow bikers in need/accident when we see them on the road...

i think maybe for newer riders can still go m'sia but on shorter trips such as normal petrol trip or short makan trip...

where they can first get use to the customs and traffic conditions in m'sia...

Oren, Very nicely written post! Just to add, even if a person is an experienced rider, if he is riding a bike that is new then he needs to spend time on it to get used to it to expecially stuff like breaking distance.

Just back from Cameron.

Harmonia - sorry to hear about your accident. Wish you a speedy recovery.

For our side, both infarctive and me made it back safe and sound. 1360 kms in 4 days - fingers are still ringing!! Infarctive's clutch screw broke in Cameron and he cable tied and taped it up for the return journey. My bike seems alright uptil now, except for super worn out rear brake pads. Personally, an excellent trip - except for infarctive's lame jokes :p

yesssss .. glad to hear all safe and sound hehehehe .. welcome back bro!

About the fingers ringing hehehe maybe time to consider to add more weights on the handle bar to minimize the buzzzzzzing feeling felt on the hands during long ride.

Option to consider : change to heaviear end weights like HVC using (500grms each), handle brace with DIY extra weights add on the brace like mine !!!! .... hehehehe

Tested the DIY brace weights (motovation) today .. superp feeling riding around JB with Gaban via 2nd Link .. we just came back after having light dinner at Pandan, pack that crazy huge murtabak and also Nan bread , then scouting some parts for my Project Ver:4 for my SplitFire at AhGua Lane ..... hehehehe.

Yes, my list of things to get has just doubled. I am one of those people Oren mentioned that does not use protective gear, but now I will get all of it - riding jacket, knee guard, riding boots, disc lock with alarm for touring. Need balancers, handle brace, Sinnob, better hand grips for daily use.

Immediately - gloves! My current gloves have 3 big holes in them now.

Alright - lucky enough we didn't need it. I was told by some experienced tourers that if my bike ever breaks down in Malaysia, I should look for the nearest railway station, get the bike to JB and then call a Singapore tow truck - that is the cheapest option. Hope my bike never breaks down in Malaysia!!!
