If it does roll out by 2011. Im gona wet my pants wif excitement. Although I got some issues with UM personally, I wish they would bring in the 400 if it does come out. We shall see…….

I think it makes sense for UM to bring in 400cc cos of Class 2A.

The electric hybrid scooter... yummy.

yea, i know, but the exact location?

Cross road of Lavender and Bendemeer , you know there are many bike shopes there all around the crossing.

do u have heat problem wearing jackets?

Not really. Of course, right now you go out at noon with a Jacket, regardless how mesh it is you'll cook under the sun at the red light. But to be honest with you, I rarely have heat issues: When I ride during the WE, I don;t really care because I enjoy it so even if I ride around noon when it's really hot, it's alright, I'm usually wearing casual clothes like a t-shirt so it's ok.

During the week when I have work clothes on, I don't ride at noon unless I have an urgent errand that can't wait, and in that case you learn to stay in the shades :)

Honestly, now mesh jackets are really really light and very well ventilated. To the point where at night you actually get cold with a jacket on..

Another thing to note about heat and protective glove: the body will adjust. A bit like when you've lived all your life in cold weather and arrive to Singapore the first time. You just can't even breath! After a while, you get used to it, your body regulates itself. When I first started wearing gear yes I was worried about the heat, but now I don;t even notice it !

My advice to you is get a cheap Mesh jacket and see how it feels. Easy to carry around, easy to store and very light. Once you get used to wearing protective gear, you can;t ride without them anymore !

If it does roll out by 2011. Im gona wet my pants wif excitement. Although I got some issues with UM personally, I wish they would bring in the 400 if it does come out. We shall see…….

Same here.. if it has the FC the Pulsars have, then I'm sure to get one !

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

3-in-1 OWS for engine flushing >> $30

since u mentioned engine flushing, i went research mode and in most article, the 'experts' recommends that unless ur engine has low milage n u've not done regular oil change, then a flush might help. however in high milage vehicle, a flush might hurt ur engine n transmission more than it helps, reason being there might be more residue that the cleaning agent can handle, and if u know what flush does, it forces the particles up n blocks or tears open ur valves. (a flush does the opp of the regular flow of fluid, where in most vehicles, valves are only one way)

If you do get a flush, I recommend you do it when you can afford to replace the engine or transmission.

Jackets :

Yes ... heat does matters but to a minimal depends on the material and objectives. There are varieties of jackets with different material and quality to choose for daily ride. Mesh jacket with protective gears are lighter and breathable but not waterproof since the jacket need the mesh for ventilation. The waterproof jackets are slightly heavy. Leather jackets good during night or cold weather but not during sunny day. Windbreaker are just normal jacket but without protection. So the choice is up to individual needs. You pay for what you want. If you have some time, drop by at Motoworld and have a try on the jackets available and no worries if you are not buying it, they are flexible...their staff are flexible for you to have a feel. RS Taichi and Komine brands are quite affordable in terms of the pricing with quality workmanship. Few of us here are wearing them.

End weights dampers >

Vibrations occurs from the engine when starts and the vibrations will travel along the body frame up to the handle area. Stabilisers, balancers, weights and dampers are needed to reduce the massive vibrations and also to eliminates the smaller frequency of the vibrations. Handle bar is also a balancer and stabilser. The longer the handle the better the balancer ... see why off road bike have longer handle bar than road bike but sad to say because it's hollow, it cannot kills the vibration as a whole. The handle bar need the some weight to stabilise. That's where your end weights and dampers comes along. Weights and dampers absorbs the loose frequecy of the vibrations and also to stop it. But due to the engine power, there's no way the vibrations can totally dissapeared. These stabilisers and dampers can only minimise the whole vibrations.

Ok for stock end weights yes.. it is very heavy because our pulsar have massive vibrations due to our 2 spark plugs engine. The needs for heavy end weights air because weights and dampers absorb vibration faster. Since the handle bar is a hollow tube, the vibrations will travel along the the handle and once it reac the end of the tube, it will travel back and forth. This will cause the handle to wobble. To reduce the or kill the wobbling, the weights come in handy here. The weights act as a dampers will absorb all the loose frequency and try to kill the vibration as much as possible. But do note that the end weights have limitation due to its size.

Motovation vs stock dampers

Both are basically same and do the dampening better. Materials plays a part too. Stock are made of cast iron while motovation are stainless steel.

Yes stock are slightly heavy reason why it is on our pulsar which have massive fibrations. Both do the job well compare to other brands since we are talking pulsar here not other bike. I've tried Rizoma end weight, look nice but don't do the dampening job on our pulsar.

On your question why we changed the stock to motovation, it is just basically preference and also the look. Motovation are much nicer with the slider to protect the weight if the bike fall. The sliders are changeable compare to stock which easily dented, chipped when fall.

Hope my long boring typo here clear your doubts. Oh one more thing to add as stabiliser and balancer is the handle brace. I'll explain later since I have briefed on the handle brace on my previous post. But if you need to, than I will explain on some other time ... now I need to go and accompany Speedaddict to 219 for see see only and later to motoworld @ lavender ... anyone wanna join us .. just msg us ... hehehe

Are you sure the rear tyre you changed is 110/70 ? Is your bike P180? If yes its stock is 100/90. With this tyre change your rear tyre circumference is significantly smaller than stock and hence your gearing will be very short, 94 KMs/Hr at 8k RPM :help:

Can anyone please tell me how to remove the headlight fairing to access behind the dashboard?

I removed on each side of the dashboard:

- screw below signal light

- screw above signal light

- screw on top of dash board

And freed the main metal plate below the headlight so the headlight assembly is not attached to the frame anymore.

Yet I can't figure out how to open it. There are screws inside the fairing but even with a very long screw, the angle is impossible to manoeuvre. How do you guys open it?

(don't tell me to send it to the bikeshop and have them do it please..)

Ok figured it out: bolts on the side, going inside after the dashboard, about 5cm below the signal light. Damn it. That's the kind of stuff they should be putting in the manual!

In case anyone is thinking of buying Alpinestars MP2 gloves. Just took mine for a ride in the heavy rain. The gloves is great in hot weather (my hands don't feel sweaty even when riding at noon) but gets totally drenched in heavy downpour.

Yeah it's hard to tell. To be safe, if it's not included in the official maintenance checklist I would say it's not needed. I'm sure the manufacturer knows their own bikes best.
